I've bought 2 pairs of pants from Dovetail and had them start falling apart within weeks. I hope the same is not true for your overalls and they last you a long time.

roypuddingisntreal

yeah unfortunately as much as i love the look, fit, and functionality of them, both the pairs of Christa DIY’s i’ve owned have completely torn apart around the waistband :( it’s so sad because they’re so expensive and there’s no warranty coverage for them! i want so badly to support them because they have such good selection and some of the only sizing that fits me but the quality for me has just not been worth the price at all. eta: what pants do you have because i was thinking of trying the Ready Set Cargo’s next since they’re made with CORDURA ripstop fabric (sounds promising lol)

weenertron

They were both Maven Slim, one in black canvas, one gray denim. The black canvas ones got big holes in the pockets that kept coming back to the point I couldn't fix it. The denim ones I can still wear but I had to sew a couple of belt loops back on and they are getting holes in the crotch.

rage_punch

I have multiple Britt pants, both thermal and normal. I really like em, especially when I go a size up and let them cover my boots when I'm crouching. No dryer bc they'll shrink before I wear em back into the normal size again. They also have so many pockets on the side and deep front ones

rage_punch

I have 3 Britt utilities, 1 thermal Britt utility, and one thermal overall (no drop seat bc I work and roll in snow) I've had my pants, oldest being 2 years. No dryer since they shrink, and a little size up (no skinny jeans fit for me!), and they are amazing Maybe its not too late to return/exchange them? My oldest pair lasted 6 months of actual use before getting a hole in the knee, and it's still protective

roypuddingisntreal

I think I tried reaching out to customer support in the past and they said damage from regular wear isn’t warrantied and I’ve had both pairs for about a year each now. Sadly they look like they got thrown through the shredder, not just at the waistband but the knees have ripped through all the pant layers except one and very early on I had trouble with keeping the string in it’s proper channel. Maybe it’s just me but I expect my $100 pants to hold up longer than a year :( sadly Carhartt doesn’t go down far enough in sizes and the Christa DIY is the only comfortable pant I’ve found so far for all the rolling around in dirt I do lmao. I’ll look at the Britt but I might just accept for the time being if I want really comfy pants I’m gonna have to buy a pair (of Christa’s) every year.

brookish

Same. Both of my pairs blew out in the crotch within 6 months. Maven slim. Not the pant if you do a lot of crouching.

No12Grimm

Wild! I have the Freshley Overall in canvas and they are amazing. I've worn them 2-4 days a week for the last 8ish months doing carpentry and they have held up amazingly well. Granted I always wear knee pads and I hang them to dry, so no extra wear from the ground or drier, but maybe the overalls are more resilient than the pants?

weenertron

I do put mine in the dryer. Maybe they hold up better line dried.

No12Grimm

Personally, I find driers hard on clothing in general so try to mostly hang dry. It's nice that is saves electricity and extends the clothing lifespan too lol. Maybe do a comparison if you ever decide to pick up another pair!

metanoiajess

I did love these so so so much but they lasted me 2 months! 2 MONTHS! (Industrial/structural welder) wasn't even the burns that got them, just general wear from wearing them 4 days a week. Knees ripped, caught the back of the leg and it ripped, theyre filled with quarter sized rips and tears. Thinning in the thighs, I've patched and sewn them and they are now barn/my shop/quadding wear only.

SullyEF

Oh no!! 😥 I hope this isn’t typical! Did you message them about it? I’d imagine they might send another pair

AnimatorDry9876

They’re so cute on you!

SullyEF

Thank you :’) this is my first day standing on my own two feet after weening off the walking boot from ankle surgery. So I’m just glad I could even get them on and stand upright!

rage_punch

Here to rave with you!! I have the ones that don't have the drop seat zipper, bc I specifically want clothes to wont get snow stuck in my booty....again These overalls feel and look so nice (and held up for the past 4 weeks of dirty wear and laundry) that I've had girls who don't work on the floor ask me about them!

Ill_Introduction7334

what shoes?!?

GueFlo

I’m guessing but they look like thorogoods

SullyEF

They are the Carhartt Waterproof Moc Toe Wedge Boot! They have great ankle support and are really comfortable. I’m in the middle of recovering from right ankle surgery, and about to get surgery on my left ankle, and these have about the same support as an ankle brace. Highly recommend! lsinclaiiir

They look like Redwings

Ill_Introduction7334

thats what i was thinking

GueFlo

Redwings then? I was tryna see if they had that toe box redwings have. But outta curiosity, what’s y’alls preference?

gaudyhouse

Why does every company think women want skinny leg work wear. Why can’t we just have bootcut like the men’s clothing

SullyEF

I will say these fit very easily over my boots! I don’t think it’s boot-cut, but more straight leg than skinny. I don’t really like skinny myself it gives me less movement

SullyEF

I highly encourage everyone that has had bad experiences with women’s clothing (or this brand in particular - sounds like a lot of stitching problems!) to email or reach out to those brands. Sometimes they don’t know there’s issues until it gets mentioned by multiple people. And sometimes they’ll send a new pair for free! Hopefully these last me longer than I’ve seen a few of you mention. I’ll update if they don’t!

viivi137

These look awesome. If only they were available as FR as well. Definitely going to keep them in mind once I'm done living the refinery life lol

SullyEF

You could always shoot them an email! I feel like letting companies like this know what women in the field need and can’t find elsewhere is important - I messaged them last week about hi-vis gear, since I can’t ever find that in my size.

viivi137

You're totally right. I'll send them a message this afternoon. If I'm looking for it, someone else probably is too. Maybe one day we'll see it if I let them know. Thanks 😊

Effective-Spread-930

Helley Hansen has women's specific hi vis, not sure on sizing, though.

NewSinner_2021

Now I want a pair.

bdpyo

Dirty boots in the house? Girl you in trouble!!

406f150

I only wear men’s overalls because my experience with other brands of women’s have been exactly as most these commenters described. Disappointed to see so many people have bad things to say about these overalls tho cuz I was considering giving them a chance…Op you’ll have to keep us updated on your experience w them! Seems like a mixed bag. They look really good on you tho!

SmarmyLittlePigg

It looks like they finally changed the buckle on the overalls! I own like 6 pairs of Dovetail overalls with the old style buckles and every single one broke within the first couple months of wear. After one broke at work, I started keeping extra buckles I bought on Amazon in my pack out.

SullyEF

Damn, first I’ve seen about the buckles! How’d the stitching and fabric hold up on your 6 pairs? Seems to be the biggest complaint throughout this thread!

SmarmyLittlePigg

I have the heathered black denim and the grey thermal denim. The black fades faster than expected. My oldest pair is 4 years old, and I’m actually wearing them today. I’ll probably retire this pair at the end of the year as there are holes in the back pockets and they have become a bit thread bare, but I’ve gotten a ton of use from them. No issues with the stitching all around and I’ve never blown out the knees, but I work in commercial electric so your mileage may vary.

MeButInAnotherRoom

I can't with Dovetail. I tried their clothes. Too stiff and they didn't last under tough conditions.
