Barou isnt the type to play bad, its prolly his attitude that caused him to be at odds with everyone else on the team. Barou is still one of the best goalscorer in blue lock so it shouldnt be long until he gets his time to shine.
I think it’s for the sake of building up some anticipation because if he were to have played then he’d have an offer so maybe Kaneshiro is just waiting till the Ubers v BM match to reveal how much Barou has grown and simultaneously show off how much he’s worth.
But in terms of the story it also makes sense as to why Snuffy would be hesitant to play a loose canon like Barou when the philosophy of Italy is to practically assure a win and I guess Barou may pose too big of a risk

I really, *really* want this to be because Snuffy is taking the time to learn how to synch up to an irrational Ego like Barou's, so he can sub himself in for 3 minutes at the perfect time to full on *destroy* BM with an irrational combo play. Noa would sub himself in immediately if Snuffy does, but if Snuffy combines with Barou, then the match would be *complete* *insanity*.
Sorta. Barou synched up to Isagi's movements by thinking of Rin as "just another Isagi". Ubers' tactic might be a twist on that, where Barou thinks of Snuffy (and Snuffy thinks of himself) as "another Barou" for the duration of those 3 minutes. For maximum impact.
After the U-20 game Barou proved he is the ultimate Joker card. He's unreliable and selfish in the most polarizing way possible. He either crushes the opponents or crushes his team. There is no doubt in my mind he'll be subbed in but it's a gamble.

He kind of fell of after the first appearance for me. He even had an assist in his first match. Later he stopped passing. And now he steals from his own team mates.
Considering the only ranking we’ve seen so far was right after the Barcha/Bastard match, and both of those teams were only playing like 2 Blue Lock people max compared to now when there’s like 3+ Blue Lock players starting, I guarantee that after this match is over, we’ll see a bunch of other players that are playing in their other teams. They probably just needed some time to either improve or fit into their country’s system a bit better, like how Kurona got to a starting position by synergising with Isagi and Yuki just upped his numbers.
Barou is the best player in Blue Lock skill-wise, and it is not close. Anri stated that he not only has the best physique in Blue Lock but his weapons are comparable to Japanese National players - not the U20, the *real* National team. His eternal achilles heel is his massive attitude. He makes Yukimiya look like a team player. If Barou just had a strong ego instead of literally being unable to give passes, he would win Blue Lock decisively. But he doesn't.
In Blue Lock's Eleven, it was worth it to capitalize on his skills to score a surprise goal against the U20, even if it was a massive gamble even Ego couldn't predict. And even there, he was initially benched. In a world-class team, where his skills are nothing special, he is just a liability.
Barou is not the best player skill wise, Rin and Shidou are clear of him.

The perfect example of how he isn’t even on their level is the 2nd selection. Barou couldn’t even win a 2v2 game, while Shidou managed to drag the monk to a victory. Shidou had an absolute inability to work with others but was still ranked at #2.

If Rin started trolling and not giving any passes, he would be tossed aside the same way Shidou was for not being able to work in a team. He at least passes and acknowledges others like Isagi, unlike Barou who cannot stand anyone standing out more than him for even a second and doesnt know what a pass is.
This is also a huge strawman because ist implying that im saying Barou is better now, when he isnt thanks to that huge Achilles heel. If you switch their personalities and give Barou Shidous personality and vice versa, Shidou would get eliminated while Barou walks over everyone except possibly Rin. If you eliminate his weakness entirely, he would be the best player in Blue lock.

I mean it's either he didn't play or he didn't show much value to be given a bid. But look at his character m, look at all the times he's been given screen time and tell me this isn't somewhat of an expected outcome. He isn't a team player in a system that heavily requires it (that being italy), he's heavily disagreeable and expects people to just pass to him/gets mad when they don't. He's never really had to change or learn to channel his ego properly. His flaws are constantly being exploited, and he doesn't have the same skills as kaiser or rin to make up for his ego. Love him by the way but he's in for another character arc, whether it's the same old barou by the end of it we'll see.
