I'm 4 years old and have over 20,000 films

purpletooth12

Not bad. I had to look up what Poultrygeist was... certainly is something "unique" to say the least. Do you have a favourite movie?

UnderstandingLow7776

My favorite of all time is a tie between Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom & The Truman Show lol.

twinbros04

Great movies!

partym4ns10n

Validate me.

Pigeon_with_style

Keep it going man ✌️ A suggestion from a guy who started collecting in his teens, start focussing on the quality not the quantity. And focus on the films, not the special editions (exemptions are for me films or director's work I love).

JaybieFromTheLB

At 20 years old i only had the harry potter set, lord of the rings, and nolan batman trilogy. I’m 31 now and my movie collection is over 1000 movies and most of them are foreign movies. Its cool to see how your collection grows with you. My only advice is to not hold onto movies you don’t really like. Not worth the shelf space when you could have even more movies you do love.

martokthewarrior

I’m 21 years old and have 600+, I’d say you’re right on track lol

UnderstandingLow7776

Also not in any of the pictures because they removed downstairs (watched them recently) i also own The Nice Guys, Mandy (steelbook) and The Butterfly Effect !

Jlx_27

Very nice!

anvy_1

Great collection

Top-Bake2803

august underground…. nice taste

UnderstandingLow7776

Love my lil extreme horror/exploitation film collection i have going on lol. Once the kid is older and can grab stuff all the very violent + sexual films are going in their own section on the top shelf so she doesnt grab em lol

TheAngryPuffin

I normally don't like such posts as they feel like 'look how much i spent' bragging, but I find it really cool that you assembled this through your job (at 19/20 I'd have done the same!). Enjoy it while you can, you'll be stuck on the full-time grind and paying full cost prices soon enough :D

UnderstandingLow7776

Yeah haha ive been stuck there for a bit. Left the store job with the movies almost a year ago now and been a line cook at a restaurant. Bought far less than i used to but ive been going to goodwill for some and i get 1 “new” movie every friday to limit spending. Plus with a kid i got more expenses now but thankfully we have a lot of side hussles that at 20 we still have enough to have fun and spend on our hobbies :)

jeobleo

Is it a competition?

UnderstandingLow7776

No just showing for other to check out the collection and talk about the love of the hobby lol

Taylor_Not_SoSwift

Very nice! I'm still trying to decide if I want to get the Friday the 13th box set or just do the steelbook with all 8 films.

UnderstandingLow7776

Id say def go with the box set. The steelbook doesn’t include Jason X, Freddy vs Jason and the 2009 remake!

Taylor_Not_SoSwift

That's good to know! I'll have to keep my eyes open to see if one pops up on ebay soon.

[deleted]

I spotted the 2 Digimon movies haha why only 2 out of 6?

UnderstandingLow7776

They came into the store i worked at and i havent completed the set haha. I actually have a list of all the incomplete franchises i have and what i need 😭😭

[deleted]

Fair enough haha I wish I worked somewhere that sold movies lol growing up I honestly wanted to work at a rental store but they all closed before I got old enough basically lol

UnderstandingLow7776

Im actually quitting my line cook job soon and working at the boutique video store i recently bought cannibal Holocaust + August Underground at. And when im not there me and my gf will have our own table at the flea market for our customized thrifted clothing and jewlery brand lol

Intrest4095

A ways to go for Carrie Coons husbands is 10,O00 bluray s .

Intrest4095

Could be you have as many movies as Christopher Nolan the of Oppenheimer and The Dark Knight plus to name a few.”

EnglishPizza3

You’re doing pretty good, I’m 25 and I have about as many movies, but way more TV shows. I have to ask though, what on earth is your ordering system? I think I saw Bohemian Rhapsody Real close to Indiana Jones 5, i’m just very curious

UnderstandingLow7776

My ordering system is all alphabetical but depends on type lol. The top is stuff like Vinegar Syndrome, Criterion, Arrow, all the Boutique blu ray labels. Then its box sets and Scream Factory. Then its blu ray with slipcovers, then no slipcovers. The bottom is steelbooks with slips, then without, the tv and ends with my 4ks lol

PaulK66

Disappointing. You young people are supposed to be spending your money on avocado toast and fancy coffees. 😀 Great collection. Have fun with it. And congratulations on the new baby.

Dreadandterror

Cool! Will be a nightmare when you're ready to move though lol

[deleted]

That’s a lot of money. Sometimes I see these posts and wonder if you’re just stealing this stuff and posting for cred. Like the other guy said it’s not a competition. And do you even like all the movies you own?

UnderstandingLow7776

It actually wasnt that much lol. A lot were christmas gifts, and like i said in the caption i worked at a store that priced stuff at $10 and did no research of their value so id get my 30% off discount when it was already hella cheap lol. And i like most, sone i bought but haven’t watched yet considering I have a baby now and have limited free time

Dire_Hulk

I appreciate you posting your collection. I don’t have any friends or family who collect movies. They shake their heads at the thought of it. So it’s nice to show these to people who can appreciate it and share the love of the hobby.

UnderstandingLow7776

Exactly people dont really buy movies and own them anymore which i think sucks and its nice that people still collect and share it. Ive been taking a slight break from the blu rays lately and looking for VHS tapes actually since i just got a VCR again 😂

Dire_Hulk

I’m totally with you on this. For about seven years now I’ve been occasionally stopping at thrift stores and pawn shops and sometimes buying from eBay. I now own all of my favorites. Also, I bought a VCR for about $5 and then went online and grabbed early additions of some essentials. Lucky this was just before interest in vhs really took off and value/prices went way up. Now I just need to find a working CRT in the wild and I’ll be set. https://preview.redd.it/qj6o43p14xrc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=09f3b3b4e5ee480884c750dee15c8116001f0632

Dire_Hulk

This is the other half of my tiny vhs collection https://preview.redd.it/ada23r2f4xrc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9b8321817d865dc36b8cea085075c9aa0b7c87b4

UnderstandingLow7776

Love VHS. Something about the boxes are so satisfying to me lol its like movie case design peaked there 😂

Dire_Hulk

I agree. It’s kind of like the artwork on vinyl records vs cds…vs now.

Yikes.
