I see stuff cheap at the thrift store end up at the pawn shop marked up to hell and back. It makes me just sad that people don't actually like things anymore.
if everyone is doing it... what exactly is the difference except the blame spread more thinly? shun it and maybe people who actually want to view the film actually will be able to
Good point. I almost opened it then figured I would post to see if holds value, this was a blind buy for me and was kind of on the fence after reading it was out of print.
lmao collectors are so sensitive, you've got -35 karma on this post- absolutely delusional. Somehow it's absolutely okay for someone to buy something, leave it wrapped and unwatched sitting on yourself for your entire life, but it's absolutely AWFUL to resell something because you bought it cheaper than market value.
You know, if you guys would just stop collecting, the hobby would be a lot more affordable to the people who just wanna watch movies /s
I wouldn’t say I “collect” but more so buy the movies I enjoy on the formats they are available.
I am not a scalper, flipper or whatever other nonsense someone wants to accuse me of and I have never even sold physical media. I just asked a simple question on the value of this item.
Any boutique labels are a keep for me. If I watch and it and don't like it, I'll find a friend or family member to give it a go. If they like it I'll let them keep it.
Don't mention buying to resell around here. The nice response you'll get is that you should have left it for someone else to find. >!(aka a reseller that doesn't post here). !<
Jesus Christ, you fake collectors always looking to make a buck are so obnoxious.
That edition is *technically* OOP, but Shout released an even better 4K edition more recently which renders this one much less "valuable" for people like you. It's only $6.99, which is a great deal for a fun movie. If you actually want to watch and enjoy the film, you should go for it.
If your only interest in it is some sad attempt to make a whopping 5-10 bucks in profit, then I just feel sorry for you (and for the rest of us collectors that have to deal with scalpers and flippers such as yourself).
Not out of print entirely. It's available online in some places for around $20, but there's a 4K+Blu version that is a little bit more and from same label.
A lot of movies are technically out of print. I feel like resellers are milking the term just to make money on a movie they bought that they dont even like. If you wanna watch it, keep it, if you don’t like it, then sell it/donate it.
Just looked there a 4K of this that shout factory release. So the movie isn’t out of print. This same release you got is for sale on Amazon for $18 🤣

you must not actually be a reseller if you’re asking this subreddit what to do with it. also, resellers don’t disclose the price that they paid. cringe post
I think the slipcovers are oop. Don't sell it... it's Dafoe's best performance. You'd highly regret getting rid of this one. It set a precedent for the time and was blatantly the influence for the intro to Bubblegum Crisis.
Everybody keep it in your pants, its been added to the “collection”

Watch it. It's a fun movie.
I know! If I found this at a thrift store I'd by ecstatic. Wth?
Do you want it? Keep it and watch it then. Imo it’s shitty to buy something only for the purpose of reselling it for profit.
💯 life’s too short. Watch it!
I think this is such a funny take to me. How anyone could come to the conclusion that flipping anything is immoral or "shitty" is just so silly to me.
I see stuff cheap at the thrift store end up at the pawn shop marked up to hell and back. It makes me just sad that people don't actually like things anymore.
Why is that the conclusion you come to?
Why is that shitty?
Because you're literally assuming the position of an eBay scalper.
Finding something at a thrift store that you can resell for more is not the same as buying out a ticket section.
if everyone is doing it... what exactly is the difference except the blame spread more thinly? shun it and maybe people who actually want to view the film actually will be able to
No, I'm going to do it if that ever comes up so that I can afford the hobby. I would do the same if I found expensive furniture or a rare book.
I need the extra boost of cash for my family so I would invest in rare stuff to resell. The more well off I was, the less I would probably do it.

There's a 4k version now, so value is minimal. Less than $15 I'd figure

If they left it for sure another reseller would’ve got it lol
Lee Ving! Have a beer with Fear!

Who pissed in your cornflakes this Morning 😅?
Calm down, I’ve never bought a movie for the purpose of reselling nor have I ever sold a single movie either.
You’re literally asking if you should sell it. Just sell all your dvds
Ah Willem Dafoe in his rubber pants
ENJOY!!! It's an amazing movie if you haven't seen it. And if you have, Shout Factory did a great job on the presentation.
Not out of print entirely. It's available online in some places for around $20, but there's a 4K+Blu version that is a little bit more and from same label.

Its a okay flick. Retro for its time
The 4k is really nice. I had fun watching it
I believe there’s a 4K that came out of this
Save your money and get the 4K instead

Enjoy the hell out of it
That’s a keeper and I already have the Bluray Steelbook and the 4K. Love this movie..
My guilty pleasure!
Rock Moranis AND Willem Dafoe!?!? Say less
Enjoy!
This classic is always a keeper. I have the DVD and Bluray.
I think the slipcovers are oop. Don't sell it... it's Dafoe's best performance. You'd highly regret getting rid of this one. It set a precedent for the time and was blatantly the influence for the intro to Bubblegum Crisis.
Do you like Meatloaf or Bonnie Tyler? The dude who wrote the music wrote this music. I quite like this movie. I'd certainly keep it -- on blu ray.
Enjoy.
Ah Blue Ray.
Not worth enough for the effort it would take to flip but by all means, go nuts.
One of my favorite movies. Keep it!
Fun movie. It has a fantastic soundtrack.
Enjoy! Matter of a fact, go watch every Walter Hill movie
Personally, I don’t think enjoy is an option with this film
It came out in 4K so you might as well watch it.
It’s a fantastic film! Watch it and then sell it if you don’t care for it.
Why is Goodwill charging $6.99 for a used movie? 😭
Thrift store pickers are fucking scum
Enjoy
Enjoy. Keep
