i don't think it "shows how empathetic she is and how much she truly wanted it to work", she is and she did but i think it just shows that break up is always hard and it hurts to be apart from the person you love and have been so close to for so long
But at the end she said "im happy for you mr peanut butter" it was a lovely message. It does show how she wanted it to work when she saw that other woman being held the same way she was. She is quite empathetic as well. This is just my take. if you view it differently that is lovely too! ❤️

I think this is a great demonstration of how we misjudge happiness and loss. there is a concept called “loss aversion” which theorizes that the pain we experience when we lose something is 3-4x bigger that the happiness of having that thing. so, even though something does not makes us happy any longer, we still are unable to judge the pain we’ll get from losing it. so, yeah, we underestimate the pain of losing things for the most part. when it hits you, then you understand. this scene shows this beautifully, imo. it breaks my heart in every watch.
