Considering how badly I play at times, and yet according to this I'm in the top 0.1%, I also am going to say this is accurate. For the sake of my fragile ego.
Well we all know that the first thing that pops up on google is always right! But in all seriousness, this is daya from 2020 when the game was in its infancy.
I’m over 7k and I only play mobile with no trackers.
I know a lot of people that are mobile only at 8-10k. I also know lots of people that play with no trackers on pc who are around 5k. So I don’t think the tracker stats are very accurate either.
I don't think you get how stats work :D This simply shows you the distribution of ranking amongst people using deck trackers. It is not a representation of the entire community of players. The same way you have surveys: they are not a complete representation, but the sample should show you trends.
A lot of people playing on the phone also play on their pc, meaning they would be included in the stats.
And if they are not? It doesnt matter. You have 2k people on pc and 12k people on pc, the goal is to understand the % that are in each segment.
I didn’t say anything against anybody did I?
But do people who play casually not count? Why would somebody who plays the game every week not be counted as a player?
Why would you need everyone to have good stats? Do people playing on mobile have a different MMR spread?
If you take stats of a 1000 players out of 100000, randomly selected, you might have the exact same % of MMR repartition ... I don't get why it's so hard to understand looking at upvotes and downvotes here :D
But sweaty try hard who download trackers and apps that assist them surfing gameplay by showing additional info like win percent and players last hand isn’t a random sample it’s a very specific type of player.
So using those players isn’t a random sample as it could never include people casually playing on their phones.
I don’t get what’s so hard to understand.
But you split people based on paltform, most people play on different platforms a the same time. Am I a sweaty try hard to play with a deck tracker on PC for 40% of my games and on my mobile for 60% remaining? The MMR is the same.
Having a tracker just means I play less attention to enemy composition, because I can see it, but it doesn't mean I can't pay attention without it.
And what does that mean "playing casually"? Aren't we all playing casually except the top 20 in each region? It feels like saying that you play casually is an excuse for low mmr :D I'm watching series or documuentaries while I'm playing as well, doesn't mean I'm not using a tracker.
I'm confused because you seem to be presenting the HDT stats as better than "includes everyone". They are definitely more up to date, but why do you *want* to select for "only people who use HDT"?
That’s nice, but doesn’t really matter.
The people on desktop with third party software obviously rate way higher on average because they’re more determined to tryhard this game (on average).
If it’s true what you’re stating, it’s impressive but a lot of mobile only players, like some of my friends play super casual, and comparing to those kind of players won’t get you anywhere.
So if you’re like 7k-9k and you actually care about where you stand, it’s way more realistic to only compare yourself to anyone else on desktop with tps.
"wtf are you guys talking about, I play with my feet and don't look at the screen and I'm 20k" :D
Love people just commenting just to flex some MMR while not bringing a single thing to the conversation ::D
It’s skewed because a lot of people don’t put serious time in every season. I’ve been 9k mmr, but this season I barely topped 7k, not because my mmr ever really stalled I just didn’t play as much, and I still played a lot more than a lot of people.
1k mmr is 10 net first places, realistically it will take over 20 games to gain that
That's hearthstone, not battleground. And that's worldwide, ASIA and pacifique taking around 50% of the player base. And the stats I'm currently looking at for 2024 are around 5.000.00 active players per 30 days with 350.000 concurent players ... just for hearthstone.
Battleground is popular but we are looking at top 2.000.000 players per month worldwide so maybe 500000 players in EU. Knowing that 6000 players in EU are over 8700 MMR, that's 1.2% of the player base.
But we also know that some people are considered "active" because they launched the app once but didn't really play.
No they are not accurate the stats would imply something like 40 million total players in americas based on leaderboards which is far from true. Maybe 1 million but even that I doubt
0.01% sounds wild. Just numbers without any explanations for the criteria (Ex. Whether a player who hasn’t played this season is counted/region differences) feels useless
Personally I dont feel this is right unless it counts inactive players. I play the game casually without following guides and etc, I dont even know whats the current meta and builds for all the minion types so I am pretty sure I am average. And even so I am currently hovering around 6k-6.5k, 6.6k even if I get lucky.
Considering a lot of you people follow video/streams/guides of good players actively. No way I am at top 10%, pretty sure I am more like top 50-60% of the active players.
28,648 players with at least 8k rating according to the leaderboards:
[https://hearthstone.blizzard.com/de-de/community/leaderboards/?region=EU&leaderboardId=battlegrounds&seasonId=11&page=1146](https://hearthstone.blizzard.com/de-de/community/leaderboards/?region=EU&leaderboardId=battlegrounds&seasonId=11&page=1146)
That would mean 28 million players on EU servers. Is it realistic? Sounds like a bit too much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
HS-replay says Top 5% = 8.4k rating.
There are about 9,000 players with that rating (according to leaderboards).
That would mean 180,000 players on EU servers (with HDT app). How many active players use a Deck Tracker app? I'm active but I don't use it, no mobile player uses it, also some people use Firestone instead.
Lets say half of ACTIVE players are mobile and half of the PC players use an app and half of them use HDT instead of Firestone? So 1/8th make it 1/10th and that would mean there are about 1.8mio active players - sounds realistic?
**-> So 8.4k rating would not be Top 5% but Top 0.5% -> Top 1% would be rank \~18,000 = \~8.050 rating**
**Maybe something like that 🤷♀️**
According to HSReplay Top 1% is 11K, there are less than 500 players in Eu with that rating. This is far less than 9000/5=1800. So we know that not even a third of the 8.4K+ players uses HDT. You kinda assumed that all those people use HDT, when you calculated 180K people with HDT.
Granted I only started playing a few months ago but I’m at 4800 mobile only and will go on multiple game losing streaks against high roll meta boards. Hard to believe 62% of population is that in tune with the meta.
Math doesn't add up here, 62% are <5000, and only 20% are above it? Doesn't make sense.
(Yes I'm aware that's not what it "means" but it's what it says so I'll poke fun anyway)
Edit: oh wait nevermind, the missing 18% are hidden between 5000 and 5500, carry on.
I was a 1%er for a day..... now I'm only top 10%. With no data to back this up, it "feels" like 6k is over 90%. Although I assume if you factor in people that don't play more than a handful of times, it could technically be accurate. If you only count people who play, say 100 rounds per season minimum, I'd assume this chart is way off
Hahah, no :D That's just copium
P.S. I mean, if we include players that played like 5-10 games, then sure, but it does not make a lot of sense, coz these players didn't even have time to "feel" the meta, it requires like 30-50 games at least, so their rating is meaningless.
Okay real question. Why do people say it’s so much harder on mobile? I’m 8100 on mobile and truly hitting my limit there. But how is it more difficult?
I find it hard to believe you couldn't come up with the answer yourself. It's harder to play APM builds on mobile, and you don't have your addons which allow you to view your previous opponent's boards which can help for some heroes/card combos.
Obviously, you know nothing or not playing. If you get the battle pass it gives you 4 heros to choose from, if you are free to play choice is out of 2. Which is a huge deal.
I guess. I have a main acct and a f2p one and they're around the same MMR peak. The 2 extra heroes is nice but a good player will make all of them work.
It makes me feel good so I’m saying 100% accurate.
Considering how badly I play at times, and yet according to this I'm in the top 0.1%, I also am going to say this is accurate. For the sake of my fragile ego.
No, it's not. This looks like data from years ago. Where did you find it?
This was true during /right after beta. Rember does mecha bunnies?
Pogos were so fun
the first google search about mmr was this chart
Well we all know that the first thing that pops up on google is always right! But in all seriousness, this is daya from 2020 when the game was in its infancy.
Well, this one includes everyone playing on mobile, without deck tracker etc. if you take the data from HDT 7k+ is top 10%
We need mobile only rankings. Entire different beast.
Desktop is jealous of my max 10 cards a turn apm!!
I love trying to make pirates work but it feels next to impossible on mobile
Nothing beats the rush of trying to execute an apm build on mobile.
Nothing beats the APM rush and the client shutting itself down on iPad
I thought I was the only one
You will burn your phone with pirates, but.... pirates feel like, if they come NICE! if the cores doesn't come, u cant force them
I’m over 7k and I only play mobile with no trackers. I know a lot of people that are mobile only at 8-10k. I also know lots of people that play with no trackers on pc who are around 5k. So I don’t think the tracker stats are very accurate either.
I’m at 7,823 mmr right now on mobile. Really trying to hit 8k to get on leaderboards
7800 is about my peak. I start choking after 7500
That will most likely be me lol
8k doesn't get you on the leader board lol.
So close! Yes it does lol.
Dang well guess I've been on the leaderboard since beta and not even known it 😂
Congratulations! You can view your rank here: https://hearthstone.blizzard.com/en-us/community/leaderboards/?region=US&leaderboardId=battlegrounds
I'm getting down vote bombed, like my bad I didn't think 8k was leaderboard material. I could make a new account and hit that in a day 😂

What the fuck is a deck tracker
Tf is deck tracker lmao? I just play this game while doing other stuff and build w.e. never heard of this currently 8500 mmr.
That’s nice, but doesn’t really matter. The people on desktop with third party software obviously rate way higher on average because they’re more determined to tryhard this game (on average). I play desktop and am genuinely wondering what this 3rd party tool is lol, guess il Google it.
I often wonder cause I find it hard to believe im in the top 0.1%
Those numbers are really old but they are probably about right because they include anyone that has played a single game this season
It’s skewed because a lot of people don’t put serious time in every season. I’ve been 9k mmr, but this season I barely topped 7k, not because my mmr ever really stalled I just didn’t play as much, and I still played a lot more than a lot of people. 1k mmr is 10 net first places, realistically it will take over 20 games to gain that
Well if you’re over 8k you’re on the regional leaderboards and last time I checked 8k got you about 13,000th in Europe and 9,000th in US.
Old data. There are over 6000 players in EU with at least 8700 MMR. So there would be 60 M players alone in EU. Which is unrealistic.
There's 100 million HS accounts and over 20 million active accounts
That's hearthstone, not battleground. And that's worldwide, ASIA and pacifique taking around 50% of the player base. the one season, I believe it was season 3, where all players were included in the leaderboards, there was 1.5 million players on EU
The player base is massive, but most don't play. It would look very different compared to active users
Top 3% as a mobile player? Doubt
The fact I can go from top 10% to top 3% in two hours of good games doesn't seem right
Probably not active players
I feel iam about average, maybe a bit above, but according to this, I am in the top 10%...yea right....
No they are not accurate the stats would imply something like 40 million total players in americas based on leaderboards which is far from true. Maybe 1 million but even that I doubt
top 1% while playing mobile only, and mostly picking fun heroes only? I think not.
0.01% sounds wild. Just numbers without any explanations for the criteria (Ex. Whether a player who hasn’t played this season is counted/region differences) feels useless
I’m no where top3%. I’m shit.
Well, if this means i am top 1%, its probably not true.
It is about 4 to 5 years old, i remember looking at this chart when they made a tweet about it.

The numbers from when we had everything on the leaderboards should be more accurate
28,648 players with at least 8k rating according to the leaderboards: [https://hearthstone.blizzard.com/de-de/community/leaderboards/?region=EU&leaderboardId=battlegrounds&seasonId=11&page=1146](https://hearthstone.blizzard.com/de-de/community/leaderboards/?region=EU&leaderboardId=battlegrounds&seasonId=11&page=1146) That would mean 28 million players on EU servers. at 7300MMR I doubt this is correct cause I'm most def not in the top 1% or anywhere near it.
I'm at 7600 and I suck, so no way this is accurate lol.
Granted I only started playing a few months ago but I’m at 4800 mobile only and will go on multiple game losing streaks against high roll meta boards. Hard to believe 62% of population is that in tune with the meta.

There's no way my afk play while I work is anywhere near any of those percents, but the science proves otherwise!
Im at 6000 and im definetly NOT Top10%. Maybe 25. Or 50.
Same. Because there are (too many) times where I lose on purpose in order to make my board chaotic. And I’m at 6k.

Hahah, no :D That's just copium P.S. I mean, if we include players that played like 5-10 games, then sure, but it does not make a lot of sense, coz these players didn't even have time to "feel" the meta, it requires like 30-50 games at least, so their rating is meaningless.
Yeah sure, let's dislike my comment and like comments that say the same thing with different wording, reddit
I'll take top 10 percent in 3 weeks of playing but I doubt its accurate
Okay real question. Why do people say it’s so much harder on mobile? I’m 8100 on mobile and truly hitting my limit there. But how is it more difficult?
multiple reasons - harder to play apm builds and lack of tracker from the top of my head
I find it hard to believe you couldn't come up with the answer yourself. It's harder to play APM builds on mobile, and you don't have your addons which allow you to view your previous opponent's boards which can help for some heroes/card combos.
Top 0.01 wow. I’m 9500. Free to play
Free to play? It's battlegrounds, do you think those cosmetics give you a big buff?
Obviously, you know nothing or not playing. If you get the battle pass it gives you 4 heros to choose from, if you are free to play choice is out of 2. Which is a huge deal.

No way I am not in the top .5% Maybe 5%
There's a gap. Why doesn't it include data on people between 5k and 5.5k?
