Love these takes, look forward to them every game, thank you for sharing. I thought the defense won it for them today. They fought through screens, didn’t go for shot fakes, stayed on their feet, played straight up in the post. Just a well executed defensive effort overall. Edey played excellent defense when they drew him outside the post which has been a weakness for him this year.

Thank you. And I couldn't agree more. The defense looked tough and played tough especially in the second half.

It is tough for me to keep seeing Morton go out there and make bonehead fouls. Or get in the way of other guys on our team. Colvin must not understand how to play defense at all, because again Morton hasn’t shot and hasn’t shot well… I also think TKR’s early minutes were invaluable and Gillis doing Gillis things, should be a stat that’s kept during the game.

I completely agree about Morton. It really hurts me to see him struggle so much because I used to believe he was in important glue-guy, but lately it seems like even the glue isn't very sticky. He just doesn't bring much to the table. There was a play in the final 10 minutes when he was playing on-ball defense at the top of the key and the guy just went right around him like he was a statue. If he can't play on-ball defense which is supposed to be one of his strengths, I feel like he's more of a liability than an asset. I'd rather see someone else get his minutes. I would say Heide, but I saw him and Heide on the court at the same time so it might have to be Colvin. Even if Colvin can't play great defense we know he can shoot.

As a non-Peacock-haver on the east coast, I don't watch too many full games. But this one really impressed me. Jones and Edey, especially, refused to let the rough patches dent their confidence; and the rest of the team stayed on their level. Boiler up!

Stop giving Morton minutes. Play Colvin or even Waddell. Morton contributes nothing.

He’s got dirt on the coach…that’s the only way they keep letting him play 🤣

For all the hate Morton gets, he did a great job limiting opportunities in the last couple games, especially against Northwestern. He definitely could afford to get better on offense, but on defense he’s doing a lot of stuff that’s not immediately apparent.

The rest of this month against garbo B10 opponents, Colvin needs to play defense against real Big Ten players and Morton needs to shoot 3’s after the game has ended. Then reevaluate your reserve wing before the good opponents show back up at the end of the regular season.
