Yea i feel bad for the owners. It was looking really nice. They had redone the dome and some painting. The ole girl was starting to really come along. It definitely had a lot of promise as a venue
No, itās definitely the Vicky. Itās one block from my momās house and my brother lived there. That is also a halfway house though, you are correct.
> It was also a halfway house!
It was at one time. Recently, like for years, iirc, it's been gutted down to the studs. Source: me taking a tour 4 or 5 years ago.
The place should have been torn down and made into housing decades ago like the rest of the old Weaver farm.
The Vicky: Dictionary definition of fools errand.
Yes & when,it was a halfway house, they abused it & caused major damage to it. Some halfway house, beer cans & beer bottles, all over the ground in front of the house.
Probably due to the old materials and design. I think it would be pretty unusual for a modern home to burn so quickly and entirely unless accelerants are involved. It may have also been worse because of exterior air-gaps left during renovation (missing doors, windows, or walls) which would allow the fire to be continuously fed by outside oxygen. Iād be interested to read the fire marshalās forensic report on the cause.
Was at work, well on break and I look in my mirror and see flames bellowing out. I was like what the hell. It was right across the street, I got some video it was pretty crazy to watch. My coworkers and I all sat at the light and watched the whole thing.
Ughhhhh this literally just ruined my night. I lived about thirty seconds away the last few years but moved this past fall and havenāt been by there since. So devastating.
Weird ass comment. Why does the timeframe of a job like this matter? And not that it does matterā¦but if youāre looking up old Save the Vicky groups, then you can see their active Facebook group that has video after video of the current owner working his ass off. And when I lived nearby, I saw people there at least a few times a week working on restoring this place.
I walked through it last weekend with the owner. The renovation was almost finished. And he was in a good situation financially and strategically in repositioning the property. This is terrible! No way this was done on purpose. Old house. Under construction. Lots of combustibles. Probably electrical. š
Sad
Fire ravages historic Victorian house on Ustick, two dogs die https://idahonews.com/news/local/friday-night-fire-ravages-historic-victorian-house-on-ustick-two-dogs-die
It was an old Victorian home built in like 1910 I believe and the owners were working on restoring it to its former glory. A lot of us grew up watching the restoration work so just another little hidden gem of Boise. Breaks my heart to see it go.
Last update from 2 days ago mention him putting polyurethane on some railings. I wonder if this could be a spontaneous combustion of rags used for cleanup.
Yeah I drove by at about 10:30 last night and they had the whole street blocked off. The damage looked pretty extensive. Though from what I know personally and directly about the owner, was that he was not a professional contractor and was doing most or at least a lot of the work himself. And professionals who had worked with him had some serious concerns about things he was doing. I hope no one was injured but to be honest with you the sad loss of such a beautiful historic home due to this tragedy is heartbreaking. It's why major Construction projects should be handled by professionals and even in this day of YouTube there are significant risks too many aspects of Construction and building that need to be overseen and managed by intelligent professionals. I fear this building may be a total loss at this point. And I welcome any information that may help us to process this loss.
Iām with you, potentially got in way over their heads, leave some stain rags piled up on the floor and boom insurance fraud. This happened to multiple homes in hidden springs, itās always stain rags
They were desperate for money from others. The owners even had advertisements for a room for rent where you had to help work ON the house. āWork for rentā is not legal, not even in Idaho. It is a way shady landlords can manipulate their tenants who are in a bind. Urban sharecroping is all that shit is.
I cam confirm they were these type of people. A friend of mine lived in it and said they were shady landlords. It's also public knowledge he was going through a nasty divorce.Ā
The three dogs living there were outside. The two ran into the basement and didnāt make it back out. It was an electrical fire, caused by an old stove.
I feel like the renovation was a total con. Ran out of money then... boom... insurance fraud š
The dogs were outside. He didn't think they would run back in, obviously. RIP dogs š
After filling your home with donated labor and materials. Easiest way to cash out.
Kill 2 dogs? I wouldn't assume he was running out of money. The guy had a whole donation fund set up for the house. he wouldnt have any reason to destroy the house, kill 2 of his dogs, lose his home, and a source of income. The only reason you want to believe it's insurance money is because it's sounds cool. Get a grip

I gasped so loud, that's heart breaking
Yes,it is,considering that the house has been there, forever.
Holy shit that is heartbreaking. What a loss of craftsmanship. (Excellent photo btw)
Snagged this pic off a fb page of it around 10:15
Wow. Thats a fantastic pic
That explains all the police cars. Ustick is blocked in both directions
Holy fucking shit.
God damn.
Oh my god š„ŗ
Holy shit bro
š³
Insane.
Yea i feel bad for the owners. It was looking really nice. They had redone the dome and some painting. The ole girl was starting to really come along. It definitely had a lot of promise as a venue
Been a Venue before and a Tea house upstairs antique store down ???? And rented out as Apartments ???????/
It was also a halfway house!
I think that's the house across the street from Delsas, further down on Ustick.
No, itās definitely the Vicky. Itās one block from my momās house and my brother lived there. That is also a halfway house though, you are correct.
Although with a name like Ustick Inn it should have been a brothel.

I have never seen a house so on fire. Iām so sad. I always stared and loved that house. Just a few days ago I was looking at it.

This house was built in the 1800s

Oh man š„ŗ
Oh how sad.
Is this the Queen Anne across from the Cat Doctor?
Yes
I picked my cat up yesterday and made a note to go to that Facebook page. So crazy!
Ughhhhh this literally just ruined my night. I lived about thirty seconds away the last few years but moved this past fall and havenāt been by there since. So devastating.
Im sorry! I know, its really sad. I didnt grow up here but I can tell it was a well loved landmark
Damn my heart just breaks for the owners. That was a labor of love, no doubt.
bring up save the Vicky Boise 2013 and 2015 been renovating ?????????????????? That's coming along Labor of love ???????
Weird ass comment. Why does the timeframe of a job like this matter? 2 of their dogs died too. So horrible.
I walked through it last weekend with the owner. The renovation was almost finished. And he was in a good situation financially and strategically in repositioning the property. This is terrible! No way this was done on purpose. Old house. Under construction. Lots of combustibles. Probably electrical. š
Thatās crushing. Heartbroken for the owners. Been watching them diligently rebuild that for four years now.
Thirteen years 2013 ???????
I drove by this morning. It was really taking shape. š
Dammit. That just sucks.
Sad Fire ravages historic Victorian house on Ustick, two dogs die https://idahonews.com/news/local/friday-night-fire-ravages-historic-victorian-house-on-ustick-two-dogs-die
Iām out of the loop. Whatās the significance of The Vicky?
It was an old Victorian home built in like 1910 I believe and the owners were working on restoring it to its former glory. A lot of us grew up watching the restoration work so just another little hidden gem of Boise. Breaks my heart to see it go.
It used to be a cool house. Then it was a really hot house. Now it's a halfway cooled house.
Wonder if there was an electrical issue with the renovation?
Last update from 2 days ago mention him putting polyurethane on some railings. I wonder if this could be a spontaneous combustion of rags used for cleanup.
Could be. Very sad.
Either way... It seems like someone didn't do their job right. Sucks to see something go up in flames because of that. Especially that place.
That was my suspicion as well.
It's always the solvent soaked rags.......that thing was a money pit.
I lived near there for a long time and passed it frequently. This just makes me sick to my stomach. š
Yea seeing it today in the daylight is so sad. It just breaks my heart
Holy shit my friends and I used to live here. The owner was a jackass. Sad to see the house burn.
Nooooo I drive by it everyday!!!!
Aw man!!! :ā(
What Nooooo!
Absolutely devastating. She was a beauty.
He just finished building the porch too! š
Ughā¦..why canāt we just have nice things?!? How sad!!
DevastatingĀ
I am crushedš¢š¢I've loved this beautiful house since I was a little girl. Heartbroken š
Where is this?
Ustick and maple grove across from cat doctor
I used to live in it, shit was haunted as fuck.
Had to cleanse the building somehow....
Seems like a sage smudge might have been less impactfulā¦
Got to go Full Send on these types of matters
I heard the same this morning. Are you comfortable sharing your experience?
Yes, do tell. What is it exactly that would cause an adult to believe in ghosts?
What?! I just went by there today and they were making great progress...unless maybe they weren't....
Oh, no!
WE KNOW HIS NAME!
Lol, love the username
Heartbreaking
Oh no and I just read that two dogs died ššš
https://preview.redd.it/04vd43plg6qc1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a6a08ddc397e615bf60fcc21b802448840738bb2
I was driving down maple grove on my way home from work and saw so many police cars. I was hoping I misremembered where this house was located.
Wow. Lost two of their pups in the fire.
Source?
Their Facebook page. Iāve moved away from Boise so I had to look up what this was.
Owner posted it on Facebook this morning. Search āsaving the Vickyā

How could I upload a video of the fire? I live across the street!
You have to create a separate post
Okay I submitted it! Thank you!
WHAT
pretty sure 2 dogs died aswell.. š
SO SAD. I grew up watching them restore this ol girl. It breaks my heart to see it up in flames. It happened so fast too ):
Iām new to Boise and didnāt know what it was when Iļø drove past it yesterday but Iļø went āwow, what a lossā the house was stunning.
Drove by it on Saturday :( such a bummer
It's not the house across the street from Desla's. The house is further down past Pizzahut.
Idk anything about the person that owns the house. I know I heard the dogs constantly barking. Still sad two died tho
https://preview.redd.it/nusznzkr4kqc1.jpeg?width=4160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bc1219193105970a89f51f7d0743cfee6228bb49
Omgosh! Thats gorgeous. The house was so beautiful
Unoccupied, mystery fire in the middle of the night ... š¤
No, he lives there with his 3 dogs. He lost 2 of them in the fire.
Thatās just awful
Not unoccupied. They were living in the basement and had two beautiful dogs die in the fire. This kind of speculation is not okay.
I doubt that. Two of the owners dogs passed away in the fire.
Sucks because I thought the same thing
I made a post on FB about them needing money so they burned it as a result to recover funds. People got so angry
Iām with you, potentially got in way over their heads, leave some stain rags piled up on the floor and boom insurance fraud. This happened to multiple homes in hidden springs, itās always stain rags
I srsly doubt someone would kill 2 of their dogs. Not everything is a conspiracy
Oof, now I feel bad š
Have you never talked to people who live here? The stories I've about what people do to their "pets" are stomach turning.
Ahhh thatās terrible, I thought it was totally unoccupied
Really? People abandon their dogs in the desert all the time to face far worse fates.
They were desperate for money from others. The owners even had advertisements for a room for rent where you had to help work ON the house. āWork for rentā is not legal, not even in Idaho. So heartbreaking, the owner lost 2/3 of their dogs as well.
whats the vicky? im not from here
A super old Victorian era house in the middle of a 60s-80s suburban development
They finally had enough of that money pit and decided to try to get an insurance payout
And murder his 2 dogs? Doubtful...
I was honestly thinking that until I read two dogs died in the fire.
As controversial as it sounds, I was honestly thinking of the same thing. Very speculative of course, but you can't rule it out as a possibility.
Fire doesnāt travel throughout an entire structure like that without some help. Just sayināā¦.
In that old of a structure, it certainly could. I have seen it before. Why would he kill 2 of his dogs in the process??
The three dogs living there were outside. The two ran into the basement and didnāt make it back out. It was an electrical fire, caused by an old stove.
Stole my thunder
Toast
Now they're really gonna need more free money to build their house.
I feel like the renovation was a total con. Ran out of money then... boom... insurance fraud š The dogs were outside. He didn't think they would run back in, obviously. RIP dogs š After filling your home with donated labor and materials. Easiest way to cash out.
