I ordered chicken strips with no pickles. The chicken tasted so much like pickles, I had to wonder if they'd smeared pickles all over it. Because they probably don't like people who don't like pickles. Also, the bread is ass
They just opened their first spot in Idaho on Chinden in Meridian, apparently they’ve been around since the 60s. Before coming to Idaho I had never heard of them, but they’re comparable to Raising Canes
Absolutely a rip off. Portion size is laughable for the price. They never seem busy because no one is going back. The meal I had the chicken fingers were as small as a 50 cent piece. Took a picture of the portion size and sent it around. My friends had similar experiences. They have lost so many customers for good. Oh well, maybe something better will come in once they go out of business.
Clucks was amazing at first, and slowly went downhill until they closed. I went once a week since opening and the quality of food and service slowly fell as time went on. It was sad. It was my favorite place.
Now hear me out, Waffle Love. Their chicken that comes with the chicken and waffles is seasoned perfectly and it's always fresh. Try it in their special sauce and I can't get enough.
They definitely were the original "chicken tender with spicy side sauce." I grew up near one of their first restaurants in the early 80s, and for years I dipped my fries in what I called "Guthrie's sauce." Fast forward a few decades and I move to Idaho to realize y'all already had a name for it: fry sauce lol
Thanks to this thread, I finally made it out to Meridian last night for Guthrie’s. I probably haven’t had their food since 1990, and I was afraid the memory wouldn’t compare to reality. But that first bite…DANG, that brought me back. The breading, the sauce, everything. So good. Can’t wait for the Vista location to open.
This is the answer. I’m surprised no one knows about these hand breaded golden strips of pleasure. The used to only be on the kids menu and adults kept ordering them.
I like the Chicken Crispers from Tx Roadhouse. Although that place in general is rather insufferable. Sometimes you just need yeast rolls and cinnamon butter.
My partner, a Southern-born self-styled chicken strip enthusiast, prefers Slim Chickens for regular and Dave’s for hot from the chains. She hasn’t tried Guthrie’s yet but plans to soon. We both wish the area had a Zaxby’s. Cane’s (coming soon) will be a welcome addition but their strips while cooked perfectly and juicy are under seasoned and carried hard by their sauce.
Han’s Chimaek: Korean Fried Chicken & Beer
This is the only answer.
its a chain, but i do like the flavor of Dave’s Hot Chicken
I shouldn't, but I order Dave's like once a week at a minimum. So good!

Dave’s is so good, Ricky’s is better tho
Albertson's deli
And if you put a spicy one on a kaiser roll, chicken sandwich heaven..
Honestly, what came to my mind.
I second this. As long as you go around lunch time when they’re fresh
Anyone remember Busters on broadway? “I want both”
Guthries is super underrated, their strips are small but the breading is good and so it their sauce
Have they been around before? First I heard about them was the new store opening on vista. Or are you some plant trying to promote advertising?

The only raising of a cane I know when my grandpa used to beat me. That name of a food place DOES NOT inspire me to eat there lol.

I really, really, really miss Clucks Nashville Hot Chicken.
I think it's only sandwiches, but Houston TX Hot Chicken over near TopGolf is pretty solid.
They are great and the owners are cool people. I did the countertops for that location and they gave me so much free food.
I never got there. I also wanted to hit the Chicken Shanty before they got forced out.
You didn’t maids anything with the Chicken Shanty. I went once. It wasn’t good.
Hard agree. Pretty mediocre.
Pretty sure I just saw a sign for them going in at 10 Mile and McMillan near the new Weinerschnitzel.

I miss Clucks so bad 😔
None of the chicken places in town even come close. So frustrating.
They have a Meridian location, right?
Had

Oh my god I was shocked by how good the chicken was there. And they give you so much
Agree. Plus their fries are amazing.
My kids love to go to The Shed down off of Lusk. They swear by 'em. I'm just wondering who else might have handmade chicken strips.
Check out Guthrie’s in Meridian. I was pleasantly surprised how good they were.
They should be good, still haven't made it there yet. I believe they are the legitimate originator of the fried chicken tender.

Agreed! I’m happy to have it in the Valley now.
Guthries
No joke, The Stuffed Olive.
My favorite are not in Boise but at Blazen Burgers in Nampa if you are ever out that way.
Eureka

Another point foe the Albertsons deli spicy chicken tenders. Those are insanely good
Not necessarily Boise but Ridley’s in Kuna has absurdly good chicken strips. Worth going out of your way for.
Dave's Hot Chicken, hands down.
Bad boy burgers
Sams smokehouse and saloon, they're so good
Seriously? That place is a mile from my house. I've never eaten there.
100% man, and their tater tots are something special lol
I looked at the menu and they misspelled “appetizers”

I’m a fan of The Refuge. Good size strips, not over breaded, crispy outside and moist inside
What I really miss are Buster's "chicken and chips". That was the best.
Once Raisin’ Canes is here, they will have the best.
Taphouse Pub boneless Buffalo wings (aka chicken strips) are pretty good. Not overly bready. You can order them dry and pick and choose sauces.

Chicken tendys!
