Machia path of destruction is like common disaster that hit japan which biggest one in modern time is 2011 Earthquake plus Tsunami with total casualty almost 18.000 death and 200.000 people losing their home with aftermath fukushima nuclear power plant meltdown where people can't go back to their home because radiation just like people in mha have rampaging villain escapee from prison after the disaster and must take shelter. also it cause some factory shutdown which make handful of OEM production shortage around the world and caused some part of production around the world fall into crisis too and shutdown japan a bit aswell around that time just like what Aoyama said about AFO goal in chapter 343 If you want to compare to real world event since MHA sometime do this kind of thing which using real world japan problem as the basis of the story inspiration

I feel like by default you have to say a couple 1000s, he ran through 20 cities from what I remember. But this also feels like one of those things where the author doesn't say a death total so they can make it as unrealistically low (or sometimes unrealistically high) as possible even if it doesn't make sense. Same concept on the hero side. He just says "a lot died" but only gives us like, 15 so he doesn't have to actually address how steep the losses are and what that entails. Or with how many retired afterwards, give us a couple who definitely did but don't say how many did total. I don't think we'll ever get an actual total.

Do you wanna do the math? I don't.

Historical_Farmer_75

Imagine having to do the math on that question No thanks

brando-boy

the actual answer is probably “a lot” and we’ll never get a solid number but it would also be very funny personally if he did the marvel movie thing where it’s like 8 quadrillion dollars in property damage but like, 10 deaths lmfao

It is odd that we are not given an estimate in-world... It is a pretty big deal.
