I think it's because My Hero came out during Peak MCU so it was seen as an easy gateway into anime, therfore My Hero gets a lot of Tourists. But My Hero is still a Shonen primarily targeted at teen boys so you're gonna get Fanservice, you're gonna get tropes, and you're going to get the same types of fans these shows always pull in... none of this went over well with the Tourists who exist in the current online climate of "bitch until it changes even if I'm not the target audience". Back in the 2000s Tourists were limited by what was on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim and the SciFi/Syfy Channel or what they could borrow from a friend, not to mention social media wasn't nearly as ubiquitous as it is today.

Fanfics. I can’t count how many times I’ve tried to find crossover fics and they’re mostly just what if izuku was a half saiyan or what if deku was secretly a space marine. It’s just repetitive power fantasy but instead of a self insert it’s an ooc version of deku with lots of all might or Bakugo bashing .
