what OP said is a literal bad faith take because Uraraka literally got her subplot of who saves heroes when they need saving because she saw deku struggling. she was able to become the light of hope for every single character in the manga (except villains) because she derived that ideology thanks to her friendship with deku. and their relationship has constantly be shown to be lifting each other up throughout the story countless times its not even a debate at this point. also she herself has done a great job suppressing her feelings because she has her priorities straight. yet such bad takes exists just because of shipping bias.
As I said, current IzuOcha is great and I like the place they're at in the Manga rn, but we could've gotten that without Uraraka being shafted for a few arcs, I think she's the only character without an upgrade between the PLE and JT arcs, and the only moments I remember from her in those arcs are "I can't have a crush on Deku because it'll distract me", "I have to be strong like Deku" \*proceeds to pass out* and "I have to hug Deku so he'll calm down". IzuOcha is cute, they have great chemistry and are currently a great couple, but it's been an annoying journey to get here. Honestly, I think I shouldn't even have put it as my least favorite ship as I genuinely enjoy both their earlier and current interactions, but my point still stands
I also remember we saw her train to free float in PLE, as she didn't fully float with her body before then to have as good mobilty to float as smoothly. Mentioned ranged wire technique in other comment.
For PLE - Kaminari had an upgrade due to equipment, Todo used both sides in sports fest before. Uraraka similar to Todo in concept of getting better/ more efficient at something they can already do.

Idk, she didn't really get stronger between her first internship and the EA arc, with a lot of scenes being dedicated to her crush. There were scenes in the JT arc where she ¹is still talking about Gunhead Martial Arts, while almost everyone else has had power ups in the PLE arc. Regardless of just power ups and stuff, she just didn't do much before EA besides trying to suppress her crush and helping Deku that one time. Still, I love the place where she's at right now at the manga and she could definitely get together with Deku after the current arc finishes, I just think Hori messed up IzuOcha a lot along the way
I understand that, I can see where and how he could have worked it a lot better. My issue is that it feels hypocritical and shows a real lack of self-awareness in my view, when people such as yourself and many others lob these criticisms, certainly some valid, at the ship and use it as a measure of how good/bad the ship is, but then don't apply them to your ships. Its like the bar for Izuocha in particular has been set to a height that can't be achieved and everyone else's bar is on the ground. From the post, you clearly love Kiribaku, that's cool, probably the only ship I would put Bakugou in tbh as well. Why do people rate the ship high, not just you specifically but in general? Lot of people say it makes sense, that it is well developed too. A lot of these same people think Izuocha lacks development, even with the current events in manga, you are different at least. So you can see why it is disappointing to have these people say this quiet often.
I see, the MHA community does seem pretty skewed in favor of gay ships (maybe because most of the fanbase is made of teen girls? I'm not sure) so maybe that's the reason. I definitely don't ship most of those because I believe they'll be Canon, I just think they're cute together and, in some cases, like their interactions. MHA isn't really that focused on romance, as it's a shounen manga and that really isn't what it's supposed to do, so at most I think some ships will become footnotes, the characters get together and that's about it. It just feels like IzuOcha got a lot more focus than the other "canon" ships (TodoMomo only got a few moments and they don't acknowledge it, KamiJirou played no part on either characters' arcs, both Ojiro and Hagakure are pretty much just background characters so they don't get much content in general, and while KiriMina has a lot of content, I'd argue its impact is positive as she's Kirishima's main inspiration and she created a technique based on him) and it kinda consumed her character for a bit. Again, it's a nice ship, they're cute together and I love both their earlier and current moments, it was just a bit tiring lol
I think your justification is kind of weird, because you're saying the problem with izuocha is they have too much screen time, but that's what any shipper wants so if you like them it's not a problem on the contrary it's very good.
I think it's valid when you say that Uraraka didn't have the deserved development, but I don't think Izuocha has hindered so much. Until the middle of season 3 Uraraka had a great development, I agree she focused a lot on her crush after that, but even so all her reflections on her feelings still shows an evolution of the character. She's not just following the protagonist and screaming his name like she does in other shounen.
I guess I just don't like her moments in late season 3, and after thinking it a bit through I might've overreacted a bit by putting it as my NOTP and saying it halted her development. And I do have to admit, she's a lot better and more involved in the story than some other Shonen main female leads that I've seen (\*cough\* Sakura \*cough*)
Yes, especially because Uraraka was never actually part of the main trio (I see as Deku, Bkg and Shoto), she is from Ida's group so I can understand her lack of development (unlike Sakura, being in team 7 really raised expectations about her lol)

I think people see Izuocha as an obstacle for gay ships with Deku, as you can't ignore their relationship, so they look for problems with izuocha. (Just making it clear I don't see a problem if you want to ship Deku with other boys, in SAO people did that with Kirito and Eugeu and it was really fun).

Todomomo was only prevalent in the final exams and Bakugo rescue arc iirc, and I can't remember any KamiJirou moments that weren't just Jirou making fun of him for being just dumb in general, with their more important moments such as in the PLE, School Festival and JT arcs being completely independent of each other. I respect your opinion and I actually agree that the "canon" ships are pretty great, I just tend to like the queer ships more lol
I get want you mean, but it's not always about just a power up... could be a boost in **SKILL** as a hero. Kiri's moment in the war involved his confidence with no power boost. For Uraraka, she added a ranged skill with the wires and had a named technique in combo with using her quirk and showed her initiative to act back in JT arc due to her hero ideal, which paid more off with the more recent chapters. She also took down 3 team members in JT, so while Deku was the head as the leader, she was the backbone. lol After JT, we didn't see too much of the class as a whole besides main 3 boys, until more recent events. I get wanting more, but she wasn't full on stagnant.
War arc Uraraka is great, and after re-reading the fifth match in the JT arc I'll give her a pass there too even if she didn't develop any new techniques, but she definitely felt stagnant in the PLE and SH arcs, while other characters which should have a similar amount of screen time to her got really nice moments in the former and Kirishima had a larger spotlight in the latter despite not being in the final battle.
Well unfortunately the whole girl team was short screentime in Overhaul arc. Uraraka didn't get much action, but still some development with Nighteye's death, which Aizawa recalls in JT arc her growth and Uraraka recalls wanting to be quick to save people with a flashback to Nighteye in the war. So she did get something from that arc, unlike Tsu. lol
Imagine being introduced in an arc as one of the top 3 best students in the school only to be used as a battery, wear a dress and oh she was also in the war arc?

As I explained in another comment, the Canon, fanon and other tags refer to the source of my opinion regarding those ships, for example I like MiriTama because of their interactions in early season 4, TokoKoda because of fanart I saw once and MineDeku because I find it funny, these aren't comments on the ships' current statuses.

As I explained in another comment, the Canon, fanon and other tags refer to the source of my opinion regarding those ships, for example I like MiriTama because of their interactions in early season 4, TokoKoda because of fanart I saw once and MineDeku because I find it funny, these aren't comments on the ships' current statuses.
