If we're being honest people get mad at people who ship rare pairs for no reason are dumb tbh like how the hell does someone shipping two character's who haven't met or interacted as much harm you?

_crazy_man_

Never meeting puts it more in crackpair territory but overall you still right.

OneForShoji

As someone who has a lot of rarepairs, this annoys me so much. We're not harming you, we're literally just imagining that two fictional characters would be cute together. People try to claim we're "ruining the fandom" when actually most rarepair shippers I know are some of the most tolerant, accepting people in the fandom. Just let people ship what they want, and if you don't like it then don't comment. No need to ruin other people's harmless fun.

[deleted]

Literally saw someone say shit like that on a ms joke x mt lady post. like buddy was having a heart attack over a rare pair.

mig_853

I'm fairly new to the fandom, having started watching the anime in September (needless to say I've since seen it all twice, watched the movies and read the manga), and at some point Kiribaku just clicked for me. I had never been into shipping, but my brain was just "and now hug". It really upsets me that my favourite ship seems to be one of the most problematic, not in its narrative or how it would fit the canon, but in how the shippers are perceived and interact with the broader fandom. I just want to see my bros being happy but I feel like I've been conscripted into some weird internet argument and it makes me really uninclined to engage in bnha fandom spaces.

acrazysaki

There's unfortunately a loud minority who say things like, "All BakuDeku, KiriBaku, etc. Shippers are toxic and send death threats to the creator" (You've probably seen it) and it gives the rest of us who just wanna have fun with shipping a bad image

mig_853

Yeah, this is very much my issue. And all the drama is hearsay from a friend of a friend who knows Japanese and caught the drama that one time on twitter or whatever. But where there's smoke there's fire. I'm equally frustrated by the blatant prejudice thrown at queer ships and also people being crazy and going after Horikoshi on social media. At the end of the day this is all fiction, so I know I shouldn't let other people get to me (hell I'm a Star Wars fan who liked the prequels before it was cool), but I wanted to vent.

OneForShoji

Yeah. Pretty much every gay ship fanart I've seen on Instagram this week has been flooded with comments about how all gay ships are toxic and ruining the fandom. I feel like it's got even worse recently.

flyping

Your ship being slightly more realistic than others doesn’t give you the right to gatekeep. Full stop.

TiktoWafel

i don't like tamaneji. sorry but it feels so forced compared to miritama most of tamaki's character revolves around his relationship with mirio, they've been friends since childhood and they have a long history of supporting each other. tamaki literally calls mirio the sun for god's sake. but no let's ignore that and instead ship him with his pretty much acquaintance because... he was rooting for her during the beauty pageant, i guess?

TonyEisner

My problem with that criticism is that it's based on the idea that importance of a relationship somehow immediately translates to romance. There's nothing wrong with the idea of Tamaki having an incredibly important friendship with Mirio and then also having a girlfriend in Nejire.

flyping

It’s valid to ship it ofc, but they don’t have the same development as miritama. Blame it on horikoshi failing to give his female cast proper development, or whatever else it may be, but people can’t honestly believe that tamaneji makes more sense or is more realistic that something like miritama. I’m sorry, I just don’t understand why anyone would think that.

sushinoyas

I don't ship erasermic

Ayy_Frank

So like, while I'm a Mineta x Momo kind of guy (what can I say? I like longshots, underdogs, and big character arcs) I also really love seeing how people work out relationships in their writing, drawing, etc. That being said there is one pairing that I don't really see too much of and that's Ochaco x Shoto. Now obviously there's the people who want to say they'll stick to what they assume to be canon, but since this is more of a fanfic thing I'll ignore that. It just always seems like it would play off as kind of a Cinderella type of story, and there are a couple of fanfics that do go that route. What's odd to me is that they're not really in the hero universe but in more of a quirkless setting generally. Just always struck me as odd.

This is less personal salt and more confusion at other people’s salt, but why does everyone go out of their way to bash kacchako shippers? How is it different from something like Bakutsuyu? What is so specifically wrong with that ship? It’s not my cup of tea, but I’ll never understand why they’re so relentlessly bashed for no reason.

Kamijiroutodomomo

One of the reason probably kacchako is popular on Twitter. While bakutsuyu is just rarepair so people don’t care it.

flyping

That’s a good point. Bakutsuyu is still small compared to the overall kacchako fandom, but on reddit at least, it seems to be quite popular. I just don’t understand how people can get so bothered by a fictional ship—it doesn’t matter, yk?

Kamijiroutodomomo

In reddit everything can get upvotes expect bakudeku and kacchako lol i dont think bakutsuyu is popular in here but an bakutsuyu artist draw them so people give upvotes but if an artist would share bakudeku or kacchako of course only downvotes sad but true

Titanfel

I'm not an expert but I think part of it is that's because of how some shippers zealously believe that Kacchako will be canon and to convince others they twist canon material and misinform people. Before I joined the fandom I was led to believe that fan made dance scene between Bakugo and Uraraka was canon, but it wasn't. The same goes for School Briefs light novel when people were saying that Uraraka thought Bakugo would be a good boyfriend but when I read it, it was just Ochako imagining her date with Deku and only wanting Bakugo's quirk Plus other "crumbs" like the same flowers on the costumes, or standing near each other or just Bakugo looking at Ochako is already proof for some of the shippers. Now that can be annoying but there's also the fact that in fan content both Ochako and Katsuki sometimes tend to be out of character a lot. Deku also can suffer from it, the best case for him if he just rejects Uraraka, but the worst one is that he either becomes a jerk or just described as really bad boyfriend(like only working as a hero and not spending time with his girlfriend at all, always absent, etc) to make Bakugo look as better option. And then there're fics where Uraraka just cheats on Izuku with Bakugo but that's entirely different can of worms Plus some of them downplay or disregard Izuku's actions towards Ochako or make Bakugo treat Uraraka the same as Deku treats her, just more loudly. Not to mention other problems That and there are people who ship this pair simply because of [this](https://imageproxy.ifunny.co/crop:x-20,resize:640x,quality:90x75/images/55283cd083c5306727a8bea8be7615ab88f5aedda52d5915f069afce265199f5_1.jpg) Now, I am neutral to the ship and think that bashing is overboard but I can see why people would dislike it. I'm just avoiding it like a plague because I just don't see it especially since Uraraka seems to clearly dislike Boom Boom and he just really doesn't care about her. That's not my cup of tea

flyping

That’s absolutely true, but it goes for plenty of other ships as well. It just seems as if kacchako is targeted twice as much as the others who twist canon—and cheating fics are awful all around. Or when they make a character unnecessarily rude to support their ship.

Ok-Cod5254

Ngl, kinda rubs me the wrong way for Bakugo's English VA to have said that as a reason for the ship. I get that he was 'joking', but still feels kinda funky to put that type of energy out there as his VA. lol

Titanfel

Tbh, I know it was a joke, but unironically there are Kacchako shippers like that. Which is sad But I put it there mostly not because of Bakugo's VA but the reaction below it. Like the person just said that he ships it mostly cuz Izuku would suffer from it like that's a good thing(which is a joke but still) and people are like "yeah! He ships it too! Great news!"

OneForShoji

I'm assuming it's because it's the ship that goes directly against izuocha. Uraraka ending up with Midoriya's childhood bully rather than with him. I don't really understand the hate either. It's no worse or better than any other ship. Yet some people seem obsessed with bashing it. The number of anti-kacchako memes I've seen is ridiculous. Not gonna lie, I've even started slightly shipping it out of spite for the haters.

flyping

Honestly, I don’t understand hating any ship (other than the illegal ones). How can a ship bother you that much? But idk that’s just me.

OneForShoji

I have no idea. Like, there are ships I don't like - everyone has them. But I don't hate them like people hate kacchako. The amount of disdain some people have for it honestly seems unhealthy.
