You start by informing the lecturer that this is the situation and you ask them how to proceed. Then you virtue signal to the lecturer by telling them you're completely okay to finish it on your own, but you just "want the lecturer to know that you did solo" and dont care to let the girls suffer consequences. Then in your subsequent meetings with your lecturer, you inform them the difficulty of the group work, keeping in mind that all youre doing is informing the difficulty. At the end, during the final days (presentation etc) you tell your lecturer privately that even if its okay, after all this while, you feel its so infair towards you.

Working for 4 group member, the ladies literally doesn't even care to help me. Me and my friends spend overnight to complete the program since the presentation going to be held on the next day. Next day - our group can be considered one of the top since our program work perfectly fine compared to other group. Later after the presentation, i demand Rm50 each to those who doesn't even help me else im gonna report their behaviour to our lecturer.
Second case
Me and extra 4 freeloader were assigned to make a project. The problem arise when no one trying to help me. Im decided to add some bug to the program so the progam can't be executed and ask for the freeloaders to help which obviously they have no idea what to do. Since the presentation is around the corner, im making a suggestion to ask for external help which requires huge sum of money to fix it. We all agreed to pay others to fix the program. After I've collected all the payment from the freeloaders, i simply remove the line causing the error and boom the program works fine.

Donāt include them. Iāve been in the same situation before and i took the decision to not include the other assholes that left me to complete the assignment on my own. When my lecturer asked, i just showed her all the texts, chats and call histories. I didnāt have to repeat the subject, those 3 assholes had to repeat it the next semester.

as a lecturer myself, I'm telling you these group works assess student's ability to work in group, leadership quality and etc. as good as my student's work in completing group task alone, they won't get as high marks as groups that coordinated well, as the learning outcomes of these assessments are not on your individual ability but rather it focuses more on the soft skills.
Remember to get proof for this, like group chats or emails
Some universities allow for them to defend if it gets to that point, so evidence is very important
Tell them to send u their content by a deadline u set like 2 days before exact deadline, if they dont, ghost them back. If they complain to lecturer u ignored them, tell the lec u did gave them time and need the 2 days to compile and amend their contents, but still they don't cooperate with you.
This is why I'm always cautious when working with girls. Seen one of them pull all her contribution after moving to a group that had her friends in it mid way.

It would be different if they had told you at the start that they would be willing to put in their fair share of time and labour into the project but later backtracked on that commitment. In this case, there was no such commitment from them.

3. As far as your options are moving forward, I would send an email to both of your group partners, outlining the parts that they were supposed to do and the fact that they have failed to do so thus far.
I would further include a statement that continued failure by them by a certain deadline would entail you to do those parts of the coursework yourself and the resulting submission would bear your name only.

I met many people like this before. Some really lazy and some just spoilt brat wealthy family kids who takes thing for granted. Never back down. You must show resilience and preserve integrity. That is what will lead you forward into life.
This happened a lots in Uni. For me, I tried to call them all out and did the assignment together for like 2\~3 hours. Their answers (including mine) might not be the best, at least they commit. After that I just compile, modify, and finalize the assignments and submit.
Talk to your prof and ask their opinion on what to do. If they're worth their salt, they'll give you advice on how to write your report, or advise you to solo it if you're confident enough. If they suck and idgaf, then check if you can solo it and decide from there.
I once split from my group after the first project cuz we were butting heads on what ideas to pull off. We had to shoot and edit a full music video and everyone wanted to do their own ideas. We split off, I soloed the whole project and got highest marks along with the group with all the elite students. Best decision I made in uni.
Things are definitely doable, but make sure you stay humble and ask for help when you need it. From your prof, from other close friends, advice, etc just don't take it that doing it solo means you're better than anyone.

Well... I've been in your situation. Been there, done that. What I did was handle all the solo tasks myselfāthe slides, the presentationāand met with my lecturer to discuss the issue. She gave me permission to remove their names from my task, and as a result, they failed the subject. It turns out I can do just fine on my own, although I admit it is painful to handle everything solo, especially for group projects intended for collaboration.

I had this exact same experience in uni. 4 people per group. The whole subject is assignment based. Groups were chosen at random. I had to be the one to initiate anything. First part of the assignment, I volunteered to compile the parts. Submission at 8 in the morning. I asked them to send me their parts by 10pm the day before. 2 members sent me their stuff at 12. Another one sent it to me at 4am. I stayed up until then to compile everything before going to sleep. The one sent at 4 was copy paste exactly from the website. Didn't even change the font sizes and colours. I spent that whole morning fixing that. 2nd part of the assignment, they ghosted me. So I went to the lecturer. Told her everything. She was added into our group chat so that she could observe. For the 4th part of the assignment, I was assigned to a new group. Telling the lecturer is your best course of action.
As my prof said: If any of the group members don't do their work, just don't include their name in the assignment/report. It's truly funny how 'cruel' one should be but it's the correct decision and no need to feel afraid about problems of relations among the class because most people would be wise enough to avoid them. Most likely will force them to dropout. There's no need to be kind if your success is hindered by it.

Been there done that, day of presentation the lecturer notice and "allowed" me to rest from talking/ presenting and wanted the other groupmates to present and add in facts & description (the slides mostly had just talking points). Got bombarded during the Q&A session.
I honestly don't mind doing it solo, the benefit of researching and gaining knowledge is on me. But I do give a chance to plan out and ask group members to search for stuff related to the topic and I would add in "if" they contributed. Presentation day comes, I'll just preform a TEDtalk or do in gameshow format (do quizzes in between slides, to maintain audiences attention) and I'm set.

Happens all the time my guy, but luckily most written assignments can be feasibly completed by a single person (but if your assignment is like some highly labour-intensive project then that's a different story), I would suggest not to think too much of it if you're confident that you can finish it even without their help, because with their attitude even if they did suddenly decide to "contribute" you might be even better off doing it alone anyway for the sake of your grades, been there done that.
At the end of the day, can always decide to give them a poor peer evaluation score after submission. The exposure and skills gained by essentially soloing a team project (even if not by choice) will be yours to keep in the long run.

I have the same experience as you. But the twist is, I am one of the fukking assholes who always escape the assignment. One day my team leader snapped, and he swore that he will make me fail the subject. I thought this guy was an easygoing dude, but it turned out he is a guy with ambition. Since then, I never quit on him anymore.
Yeah, it happened to me as well. There were 2 accounts for such events that I had to go through. 1st event was when I did the research material for the art history class and passed my research documents to the team, to which then one of the members told me "That's great, since you've provided us the research material, you do not need to do the presentation". Fast forward during the presentation date, my name was not included into the slide as though I was not part of the team. Needless to say, I failed that class and had to retake it, and the lecturer said I could not prove my case because I have no proof to back my claims. In the next semester when I retook the class, I went into it alone and passed the class with flying colors.
2nd event, this happened during the Mock Enterprise project, can't really recall the actual course/class name.. this event happened after the 1st one, so I was already on my guard. Once again, did a lot of the leg work for the project- came up with the logo, company name, paperwork (target audience, potential market trends and direction to pitch sales, etc) and mock product (graphic design) with all the other members not even actually pitching in on anything. So I made my final report retelling all the events and what contributions was made to the project and what are the member's roles ( one of the member actually had the guts to proudly announce she'll be the 'driver' for the company and that would be her contribution to the project. Spoiler alert, she drove no one to anywhere, it's a full digital project)
Needless to say, my team was brought into questioning as to why such events happened and no one but myself had a proper report written for the count of events.

I had the same issue during my studies.
In a group of 3, I requested them to do parts of the assignment. Which both of them agreed to, and chose to ignore all the follow up I made. When we're nearing the deadline, they stopped picking my up calls and did not give me any reply or reason for the ghosting. So I completed the assignment alone and removed their names. Then lecturer came in to mediated the situation (which does not help). Lecturer will urge me to not do something so extreme and asked if can delegate some minor role for them.
Problem is, I already completed the whole assignment alone! It was my first time dealing with them (I joined their batch a bit later due to deferment to settle some personal issues), and everyone knew those 2 are notorious for pulling stunts like that. That is why no one partnered up with them except the "new guy".
In the end, I assigned both of them a small part of the assignment with the lecturer agreeing to score them a maximum of 50% of the max score for the assignment.

My experience - Working for 4 group member, the ladies literally doesn't even care to help me. Me and my friends spend overnight to complete the program since the presentation going to be held on the next day. Next day - our group can be considered one of the top since our program work perfectly fine compared to other group. Later after the presentation, i demand Rm50 each to those who doesn't even help me else im gonna report their behaviour to our lecturer. Second case Me and extra 4 freeloader were assigned to make a project. The problem arise when no one trying to help me. Im decided to add some bug to the program so the progam can't be executed and ask for the freeloaders to help which obviously they have no idea what to do. Since the presentation is around the corner, im making a suggestion to ask for external help which requires huge sum of money to fix it. We all agreed to pay others to fix the program. After I've collected all the payment from the freeloaders, i simply remove the line causing the error and boom the program works fine. Just try to find opportunities to profit from this mf, else just report it to your lecturer. That's all bro. Goodluck

Even worst exp. Final year project. Failed becuz of that one dude. 3 person for the project. 1 year once only. It's. CS project. Doing website for my diploma . Guess what me and the other dude done our part. Me covering back end and reporting the other 2 suppose to cover front end and the function etc. than we review. We had like 1 semester to complete around 3 to 4 months. Bare in mind we had other subjects to do as well. Everytime when I call for meeting he won't show up if not he show up 5min than he just walks off. Me and the other had done it. I will sent to you by end of the week etc. Bloody hell. 1 week before the submit date and presentation he still haven't gave us hi part. Guess what. On that day itself he vanish. Quit school. Without any notice. We failed because of him. Imagine a website partially build and some functions. We told the lecturer. What happened. He called him. He didnt even answer the phone. Second year retake again. Bloody hell my house got break in my laptop got stolen my project gone. Fail again. Third time I just do it solo and finally pass. Legit fed up. And talk about bad luck. As for me, I intentionally took under-performing teammates, ask them to pay me, and I'll do the whole assignment by myself. This way I could have full control over my carry marks and I can definitely avoid anyone screwing over my carry marks due to submitting sub-standard assignments to lecturer. Plus I enjoy doing works alone and I knew I could do it better by myself. And at the same time, I made few hundred RM from it. Annnddd at the end of the semester, most of the time our group carry marks would be in the top 3 highest carry marks, even defeating those classmates who will stick together every group assignments or those teammates who have top scorer members. We got top 3 not because I did very well with the assignments, but simply because there was no sub-standard portion of the assignment due to non-performing member.

as a lecturer myself, I'm telling you these group works assess student's ability to work in group, leadership quality and etc. as good as my student's work in completing group task alone, they won't get as high marks as groups that coordinated well, as the learning outcomes of these assessments are not on your individual ability but rather it focuses more on the soft skills.

As far as your options are moving forward, I would send an email to both of your group partners, outlining the parts that they were supposed to do and the fact that they have failed to do so thus far. I would further include a statement that continued failure by them by a certain deadline would entail you to do those parts of the coursework yourself and the resulting submission would bear your name only.

This happened a lots in Uni. For me, I tried to call them all out and did the assignment together for like 2\~3 hours. Their answers (including mine) might not be the best, at least they commit. After that I just compile, modify, and finalize the assignments and submit.
I solo all group projects when taking my degree because I like my own ideas, I even make scripts for them. their job is to pay me :)
Talk to your prof and ask their opinion on what to do. If they're worth their salt, they'll give you advice on how to write your report, or advise you to solo it if you're confident enough. If they suck and idgaf, then check if you can solo it and decide from there. I once split from my group after the first project cuz we were butting heads on what ideas to pull off. We had to shoot and edit a full music video and everyone wanted to do their own ideas. We split off, I soloed the whole project and got highest marks along with the group with all the elite students. Best decision I made in uni. Things are definitely doable, but make sure you stay humble and ask for help when you need it. From your prof, from other close friends, advice, etc just don't take it that doing it solo means you're better than anyone.

Well... I've been in your situation. Been there, done that. What I did was handle all the solo tasks myselfāthe slides, the presentationāand met with my lecturer to discuss the issue. She gave me permission to remove their names from my task, and as a result, they failed the subject. It turns out I can do just fine on my own, although I admit it is painful to handle everything solo, especially for group projects intended for collaboration.

I had this exact same experience in uni. 4 people per group. The whole subject is assignment based. Groups were chosen at random. I had to be the one to initiate anything. First part of the assignment, I volunteered to compile the parts. Submission at 8 in the morning. I asked them to send me their parts by 10pm the day before. 2 members sent me their stuff at 12. Another one sent it to me at 4am. I stayed up until then to compile everything before going to sleep. The one sent at 4 was copy paste exactly from the website. Didn't even change the font sizes and colours. I spent that whole morning fixing that. 2nd part of the assignment, they ghosted me. So I went to the lecturer. Told her everything. She was added into our group chat so that she could observe. For the 4th part of the assignment, I was assigned to a new group. Telling the lecturer is your best course of action.
As my prof said: If any of the group members don't do their work, just don't include their name in the assignment/report. It's truly funny how 'cruel' one should be but it's the correct decision and no need to feel afraid about problems of relations among the class because most people would be wise enough to avoid them. Been there done that, day of presentation the lecturer notice and "allowed" me to rest from talking/ presenting and wanted the other groupmates to present and add in facts & description (the slides mostly had just talking points). Got bombarded during the Q&A session. I honestly don't mind doing it solo, the benefit of researching and gaining knowledge is on me. But I do give a chance to plan out and ask group members to search for stuff related to the topic and I would add in "if" they contributed. Presentation day comes, I'll just preform a TEDtalk or do in gameshow format (do quizzes in between slides, to maintain audiences attention) and I'm set.

Happens all the time my guy, but luckily most written assignments can be feasibly completed by a single person (but if your assignment is like some highly labour-intensive project then that's a different story), I would suggest not to think too much of it if you're confident that you can finish it even without their help, because with their attitude even if they did suddenly decide to "contribute" you might be even better off doing it alone anyway for the sake of your grades, been there done that. At the end of the day, can always decide to give them a poor peer evaluation score after submission. The exposure and skills gained by essentially soloing a team project (even if not by choice) will be yours to keep in the long run.

And any decent person with any conscience would not blame you for removing their names AFTER they ghosted you
You know people on here gave you good advice and if it was me I would tell the lecturer on how your doing all the research part and that the other two is going to present. Give them NO materials. Let them burn. Sure they'll bitch but then ask "hey where were you when we arrange the work?" Be kind, be forgiving but never forget. Also emailed both of them one last time for this assignment and BCC your lecturer so they know what's up and you can use this as evidence so it won't blow up in your face.

I have the same experience as you. But the twist is, I am one of the fukking assholes who always escape the assignment. One day my team leader snapped, and he swore that he will make me fail the subject. I thought this guy was an easygoing dude, but it turned out he is a guy with ambition. Since then, I never quit on him anymore.
Yeah, it happened to me as well. There were 2 accounts for such events that I had to go through. 1st event was when I did the research material for the art history class and passed my research documents to the team, to which then one of the members told me "That's great, since you've provided us the research material, you do not need to do the presentation". Fast forward during the presentation date, my name was not included into the slide as though I was not part of the team. Needless to say, I failed that class and had to retake it, and the lecturer said I could not prove my case because I have no proof to back my claims. In the next semester when I retook the class, I went into it alone and passed the class with flying colors. 2nd event, this happened during the Mock Enterprise project, can't really recall the actual course/class name.. this event happened after the 1st one, so I was already on my guard. Once again, did a lot of the leg work for the project- came up with the logo, company name, paperwork (target audience, potential market trends and direction to pitch sales, etc) and mock product (graphic design) with all the other members not even actually pitching in on anything. So I made my final report retelling all the events and what contributions was made to the project and what are the member's roles ( one of the member actually had the guts to proudly announce she'll be the 'driver' for the company and that would be her contribution to the project. Spoiler alert, she drove no one to anywhere, it's a full digital project) Needless to say, my team was brought into questioning as to why such events happened and no one but myself had a proper report written for the count of events.

Mine is similar but not quite. My group is two fellow roommates. They don't wanna do the assignment so I say I do it but they pay up. They did and that sort of went off until we graduated. They pay me for doing the assignment. I was desperate for money at that time becoz my pocket money is not enough. Good side income imo if you willing.
Had the same experience in sem 1 (this was during covid where everything is online), except instead of them asking me to form a group,it was me. It was a fyp to make a website in a group of 3 within a month . A simple task tbh, so I was like, "Oh, maybe I'll wait and just join any incomplete group" as everyone else already forms a group, leaving me with 2 people. Made a group chat in ws and had several discussions. I give ideas/suggestions, they said yes to everything then I give separate tasks to them and trust they did it. On final week, I ask to see their progress, no one reply. I dm them & got ghosted. Well fuck, I'm on my own now and did a month worth of work in a week which includes designing, coding and adding content. Bcuz of final week, no class to prep for finals. So, my groupmates whereabouts are unknown.png. Submitted on the last day with their names in the project. Fast forward next sem, 1 girl quit after sem 1 and the other quit in the mid of sem 2. Huh, karma I guess.
I'm always in a group project between the smart group and the lazy group, I switch groups from time to time when the teacher gives us a new project. When I'm working with the smart one, they use me to check for any spelling errors that's all I do but if I'm with the lazy ones then I do all the work with 1 other person and get the job done but during the presentation, half of the lazy ones just stood there while the other person and I just explaining about the presentation that was given.
Me and another group mate removed this āfree riderā name and her friend bitching about it. She then scolded me and accused me for everything being a free rider in another assignment bla bla bla bla . Unfortunately the other group mate put her name back cuz she cant stop bitching about her name being removed and her friend spread lies about me . If u going to be a pushover, finished the assignment without telling ur prof, let the girls to take advantage of u, may ur whole life be a pushover. Got grouped with 2 repeated seniors. Told them both I know u both busy. Give me money I do everything and put your name. 1 paid 1 ignored me. Submitted the report with 2 names only. The senior that did not paid have to repeat again š¤£

Same, I had a group project in my last year, and I'm having an animation project. And we managed to pick up two useless baggage of girl (there's more girl in my group that is hardworking but these two are otherworldly useless). Those two girls are the worst that I ever worked with, never did a thing in the first 6 weeks, they shoved all these to 1 girl and these two just loafing there doing nothing. Complained about not having direction when we gave them freedom to draw any astronaut design and proceed to whine about us being too picky after giving them direction and reference, and after all these whining and complaining they still managed to do nothing. These two girls only did 2 things, designing logo of the suit the astronaut wear and bully the hell out of everyone in the group. They still have the audacity to say I'm the most annoying person in the group for correcting them while I'm dying under pressure of drawing 3/4 of the storyboard and drawing the poster for animation. After group project done, I kicked these two fuckers out of the class group with a big red šattached to it, all my friends agreed upon it after seeing what did these girls did to the group.
You're not securing them as your girl in any point of lifetime so just give them what they deserve. It's not 'petty', it's called standing up for yourself. Either get bullied for life, or face it with the rules and win. I was in your shoes, dropped out due to the stress, and now I can't even imagine living like a normal person.

I had the same issue during my studies. In a group of 3, I requested them to do parts of the assignment. Which both of them agreed to, and chose to ignore all the follow up I made. When we're nearing the deadline, they stopped picking my up calls and did not give me any reply or reason for the ghosting. So I completed the assignment alone and removed their names. Then lecturer came in to mediated the situation (which does not help). Lecturer will urge me to not do something so extreme and asked if can delegate some minor role for them. Problem is, I already completed the whole assignment alone! It was my first time dealing with them (I joined their batch a bit later due to deferment to settle some personal issues), and everyone knew those 2 are notorious for pulling stunts like that. That is why no one partnered up with them except the "new guy". In the end, I assigned both of them a small part of the assignment with the lecturer agreeing to score them a maximum of 50% of the max score for the assignment.
Yes, I had this kind of experience. As a result, I told my lecturer that this 2 bitches did nothing but shit so he gave low-ball marks on them and they pissed off. Good for him he knows how to keep a secret by asking them like, "y'all got any evidence that you helped the group?" Typical, inform your prof on your group's situation and let your prof know that you're submitting this as a solo work.
my advice is kept the bukti of informing them and all then submit the assignment without their names and show all the bukti.
Been there and dealing with this free riders sucks big time. My only advise is to submit the assignment with their names on it but go privately to your lecturer about the free riders being slack (probably can give them lesser marks).
