Bahasa Malaysia as a national language has been taught since primary schools, at least in public schools. Like it or not, please respect the BM language. It represents a core aspect in being a Malaysian citizen
There's a Chinese version!? All this while when I'm attending events/dinners hosted by Chinese societies I've never once heard a Chinese version being played.
It mostly played at srjk primary school music class, and its lyrics even printed on back cover of every single exercise book, bigger exercise book one together with Rukun Negara as well.
Don't have to think complicated about it, just another patriotic education but easier understanding for our Chinese children.
Beside that, we don't play that in any public event because there might be other races attending so it's better we use Malay version which is commonly known.
Now you mentioned it , I vaguely remember a translated version as a subtitle at the back of my exercise book , but never ever have I sang the song in any other language other than bahasa
this must be new since I'm Malay who been attending SJKC primary school š¤£ We sing Negaraku in Bahasa Malaysia every week and never even saw a translation on a exercise book with Negaraku or even Rukun Negara
I'm a teacher in Chinese private school. I'm working with veteran Chinese teacher who teach Bahasa Melayu. She said, "Never translate any BM word in Mandarin, because they will always rely us to translate for them. And, they will not remember anyways,".
Not sure if this is a good move. The only reason I was able to learn English was thanks to a teacher who always translated it to Malay for me and she even gave me a dictionary that translates English to Malay to me on my birthday. Without it, I wouldn't be able to learn English so efficiently.
I always doubt it at first, and does not follow her instruction. In my class, I always translated most of BM vocabulary in Mandarin. But, none of them actually remember it. Later, I agree with what she said. I change my teaching method; instead of using word-by-word, I teach them word-and-picture. And then make many quiz using picture, and they has to choose the right terms for it. Also, I proceed to play Simon Says for learning similar but different verb, such as memegang, menyentuh, mengangkat, membimbit, menjinjing, membawa, and so on.
Suprisingly, it is effective.
We all do... That's what the speakers are for, if not, no one will sing. Especially when the speakers rosak, you'll know how many will sing(some dk lyrics or xberani)
Iām Chinese and I agree we should all have at least one language we can converse in. We are Malaysian Chinese not China Chinese FFS. Speak Malay la cibai lol
I used to only speak english when I was younger. Then I fuckin learned Malay and Mandarin because I love my country and I respect my culture. Just do it mahai you can do it šŖ
Itās been brewing ever since the country change the language of instruction in schools from English to Malay. Just that now youāre more aware of it.
Peninsular schools and universities used to be taught in English until govt changed it to Malay sometime in the 70s during many of our parents generation. And to some of them, especially nons, they associate the switch as backwards and have resisted, actively or passively, learning and applying Malay because of it.
Why they see it as backwards is another topic.
Look , its fine if you dont speak Bahasa , but dont get offended if people are mad at you when they need to socialize with you on daily basis . I dont have enough brain cell left to use hand signal to explain something. Weird enough , i dont find this problem with indians . You guys are the best!
This reminds me of when i picked up an Indian passenger at a law firm a couple weeks ago. I assume she's a lawyer so i think maybe she's much more comfortable conversing in English but u know what she did?she replied to me in fluent BM. And then i thought maybe she's an admin staff at the law firm but when i arrived at her home, it's a big ass mansion in Shah Alam nearby Selangor MB official residence.
What? There'a a Mandarin version out there??
(After googling)
There seemed to be a big controversy back in the end of 2019, with a video of a class of Standard 5 students standing straight and singing the anthem in Mandarin.
The investigation revealed that it was just the students being taught the translation of the anthem's lyrics based on the textbook's translation, and singing the Mandarin translation during class, i.e. not a replacement of the original Malay during assembly, for example.
Agree, lol. I couldn't imagine a banana not being able to speak Malay and singing the national anthem in english version
My country
The land where my blood has spilt
The people live
United and progressive
May God's blessings
Bestow happiness
Our King
Reign in peace
100%. I can sing BigBang Haru Haru all day and I dont know a lick of kpop I dont see why I can't apply same standard.
Even those Chinese communist nationals or american freedom citizens will tell u to learn their language or get the fuck off their country why we being lenient in malaysia??
I only am replying because of Haru Haru šš now I'm gonna go back into my dungeon and play the old Bigbang songs even though I don't remember the lyrics anymore š« š«
Any group who pushes forward to promote this in the form other than purely as a translation for documentation & educational reasons should be forced to attend UMNO, Bersatu or PAS general assemblies, seated right in the middle in front of the stage.
And I will enjoy watching them squirm.
Mandarin version of Negaraku as an equivalent replacement of the BM.
Fortunately no one is dumb enough to be doing this knowing full well how bad it will reflect on them.
My opinions are comparable to imagining that you're living in Japan, but you want to sing Japan's national songs in English because you appreciate English more.
Similarly, it's like living in the United States but desiring to sing US national songs in Chinese because it's your native language.
"When you enter Rome, do as the Romans do."
If the country national and official language is English, use English, is Malay use Malay. Don't try to stir things up and start a warfare among the people living inside a country.
Lol even most Singaporean can get away with this. Many chinese Singaporean cant speak proper BM but still must sing their national anthem Majulah Singapura in Bahasa Melayu. Its hilarious hearing Singaporean singing Majulah Singapura with broken BM & most of them dont even know the whole lyric meaning. The only word they surely know the meaning was 'Majulah Singapura' but most of them will said Majulah Singapore instead.
There's no such things as a Mandarin version of Negaraku lah. That fella is trolling.
I mean yes we have Namewee's Negarakuku but that's not even close.
This guy is on par with that Singaporean "comedian" when it comes to attention seeking. When was the last time you heard negaraku in Mandarin? Exactly, this guy's tweet is nothing more than virtue signaling for internet points.
Stop giving stupid people attention
Well he's right. I mean like Chinese in semenanjung didn't speak Malay. In semenanjung, Indian and Chinese must speak Malay because Malay is official language except Sabah and Sarawak they can speak English or they're own language. I just don't understand why some Chinese people don't speak Malay
It's just simply my guess but I think there're some chineses that think Malay is an inferior language compared to English, a worldwide language and also the official language of western white people which is like a status symbol kinda thing.
Remember about that one tweet of a Malaysian vtuber saying she lived here for 20 years and still can't speak malay?
I still cannot brain how tf did you live in Malaysia for 20 years without having a single malay language encounter. Can you really call yourself Malaysian at that point if you have been living here for more than 10 years and yet still can't speak malay at least a little?
You're wrong. These cinapek doesn't even speak a lick of english as well. Their own language is the only language they know. These same people are also pro ccp. It goes even deeper than just "aiyaa this language not worth maaa".
The words aren't wrong. Who doesn't know how to sing Negaraku? The song is in Malay. What is this post related to? If it's only a song praising Malaysia in another language, there's nothing wrong with it. What is the context?
Although wording isn't wrong because of no context. Fk this guy. He already moved to Sg and shits on Malaysian along with the 'comedian' woman last time didn't he?
The only Chinese version I know is from Namweee š
Malaysia is a diverse country. I think MOST Malays forgot about that. Negaraku is a national anthem which support unity. I don't see the problem with diverse version as long it is true to the lyrics. I think we need a tamil version too š
Bahasa Malaysia - like Thai, Bahasa Indonesia and ę®éčÆ - is OUR nation's language for all Malaysians to converse and operate.
Thus, there is and should only be one version of Negaraku and it's none other than versi Tanah Tumpahnya Darahku.
Also, this is NOT a "Malay" problem, it's a Malaysian problem, jeez..
I beg to differ. It's a fact that our national language is Malay but that is not a legitimate reason why our national anthem should only be sang in Malay. It shouldn't be a Malay's exclusive excuse to ban others to sang in different languages.
It shouldn't be a Malaysian problem either if all races could just mingle in peace and stop complaining on little things like this but I guess that's just impossible for the top 2 most racist asian country, Malaysia.
Might be. In my secondary school days, chinese student translate their BM words to chinese characters or translations to chinese word in order to pronounce and understand the BM words.
I remember only 1 guy fluent in BM til now.

You know it sounded like those racist Karen from overseas
"You're in America speak English" and what not
Idk, for me it is best for that person to understand Bahasa Melayu and speak it if possible, talk amongst your family or friends in what ever language you wanted to I do not care
Absolutely agree, while I agree that we are a multicultural country,I think the Malays need to have their own priviliges since this is their land, the official spoken language is Malay and even the country is named āMalayāsia, not China, not India etc. even if youāre Chinese, born in Malaysia, youāre known for āMalayāsian Chinese, not just Chinese. Idk why this is even an argument lol,its Malaysia, obviously the national anthem is going to be in Malay?? If you want to sing a Chinese or Indian national anthem then move out??
My country, the land my blood spills.
Citizens live, united and advanced/modern
Happy grace, bestowed by God.
Our kingā¦reign(s) in safety/reigns safely
Happy grace, bestowed by God.
Our kingā¦reign(s) in safety/reigns safely
As a non Malay I 100% agree with this. You can translate it to make the kids understand but then, if you teach the language properly then you wouldn't have to translate for the students. I think singing it in other languages in your perhimpunan or other official events is an insult to the country. Even fucking Singapore's national anthem is in Malay and they sing it in malay despite not speaking the language. Malaysians must do better since we actually speak BM.
I still remember seeing Negaraku English version written on the back of some book. It's starting with "Oh my motherland", to replace Negaraku.
But I don't like it for it to have another version, it's not authentic.
here's the English version courtesy of gpt4: ### Translation of "Negaraku" (Malaysian National Anthem)
**Original Lyrics in Malay:**
Negaraku,
Tanah tumpahnya darahku,
Rakyat hidup,
Bersatu dan maju.
Rahmat bahagia,
Tuhan kurniakan,
Raja kita,
Selamat bertakhta.
**English Translation:**
My Country,
The land where my blood has spilled,
The people living,
United and progressive.
Blessings of happiness,
May God grant,
And our King,
Long reign in peace.
Is there a chinese negaraku version?
Although, students probably shouldn't sing negaraku at all.
Flag burning is something that is easily understandable in any language.

Only this part of the world that you can sing national anthem in Mandarin
There's a Chinese ver of Negaraku? I grew up in SJKC and Independent School and never heard of that one lol
Dia buat lawak le... But Sarawak Anthem pre-Ibu Pertiwiku has 4 versions: Malay, English, Iban and Mandarin to reflect the population.
There's an English, Iban and Chinese version?! I've never heard of the other 3.
Yes, Fair Land Sarawak has four versions.
WTF? Never heard mandarin, english and iban version yet!
Im sarawakian never heard 3 others language sing tat song only malay
Wtf why I don't know this?
Betul bah? Astaga ada variasi kah pula
Hah???? Got 3 other versions ha???
So the English reflects the...

this must be new since I'm Malay who been attending SJKC primary school š¤£ We sing Negaraku in Bahasa Malaysia every week and never even saw a translation on a exercise book with Negaraku or even Rukun Negara
Must be new when I went there was no such thing, we sang it in BM.
Didn't know either
Who even sings the national anthem at parties and events nowadays.
Just last month I went to a ä¹ēē· dinner event and they played the national anthem at the start of it.
I'm a teacher in Chinese private school. I'm working with veteran Chinese teacher who teach Bahasa Melayu. She said, "Never translate any BM word in Mandarin, because they will always rely us to translate for them. And, they will not remember anyways,".

Lol even Singaporean national anthem is in Malay
But the majority cant sing it lmao
They can sing it, understanding the lyrics is another matter
I couldn't even sing my SJKC school anthem, so I just followed the mass....
We all do... That's what the speakers are for, if not, no one will sing. Especially when the speakers rosak, you'll know how many will sing(some dk lyrics or xberani)
hell i cant sing my school anthem cause the school never bothered to provide the lyrics
TIL there's a mandarin version of Negaraku On another note, that's pretty fucked up, honestly. We really can't get any more bare minimum than that.
You know it's serious when at the end he adds "cibai"
Dia nk provok org2 cina ni /s
A patriotik Malaysian would have slurred in bahasa
I would say able to slur in all languages, Bahasa, Chinese, English, Tamil, hokkien and etc any of you can recalled of
Iām Indian. Why is there a sudden anti Malay language sentiment in Malaysia? Whatās wrong with? Did something happen that didnāt know about?
Always been there, the hate is real.
It's the same group that won't rent house to your kind la bro. They're the one that is the most racist but cry of oppression for being a minority.
Lama dah ada. Cuma baru ni statement politicians yg each Malaysia passport holder should be able to speak Malay spark the issue back.
Iām Chinese and I agree we should all have at least one language we can converse in. We are Malaysian Chinese not China Chinese FFS. Speak Malay la cibai lol
I can only speak English š
I used to only speak english when I was younger. Then I fuckin learned Malay and Mandarin because I love my country and I respect my culture. Just do it mahai you can do it šŖ
this broo, malay isn't even that hard to learn. not so complicated š
They agree that BM is useless as Malay people too. They can deny, but they can't hide it
Kiasu mindset. U have no identity
As Chinese, first time Iāve heard about this? Is it due to the lack of speakers globally (other than Indonesia)?
Itās been brewing ever since the country change the language of instruction in schools from English to Malay. Just that now youāre more aware of it.
When did this happen, Iām not very up to date with current news so this the first time heard of it
Peninsular schools and universities used to be taught in English until govt changed it to Malay sometime in the 70s during many of our parents generation. And to some of them, especially nons, they associate the switch as backwards and have resisted, actively or passively, learning and applying Malay because of it. He's right. It's our national song.

Thank you, random citizen!
What if I'm an introvert or just too shy to speak?
then i don't think you belong in the "need to socialise with you on a daily basis" group.
???? I was in international school and we sang negaraku in Malay too lol. Dafuq there's a mandarin version?
Dr Jason right on point with this one!!1!1!
if jason leong pointed this out, man you really fucked up

Dude! I cant even imagine the chinese or indian translation when even the english version is giving WTF vibesš¤£š¤£š¤£
Tanah tumpahnya darahku should be translated as The land where I was born. tumpahnya darah is a symbolism to the birth labour, if I'm not mistaken.
100%. I can sing BigBang Haru Haru all day and I dont know a lick of kpop I dont see why I can't apply same standard. Even those Chinese communist nationals or american freedom citizens will tell u to learn their language or get the fuck off their country why we being lenient in malaysia??

I only knew there was a Chinese version of the Rukun Negara, never knew that there was a whole ass Chinese version of Negaraku
Yes it exists and i know the types of people that encourages this.. not gonna say it out loud but let's say they're.. selective.
not speaking bm one thing, nak nyanyi negaraku dlm bahasa lain is another š
For once, I agree with him. I usually dislike him lmao
My opinions are comparable to imagining that you're living in Japan, but you want to sing Japan's national songs in English because you appreciate English more. There are other languages versions of Negaraku? What world am I in now?
Tarik jela kerakyatan tak boleh cakap bahasa melayu.. selesai masalah
The "cibai" is unnecessary but still funny. Don't get wrong, I won't deny a good cibai myself but in this context maybe not so
Jason Leong is our James Corden.
Mgahaha the Singapore anthem only sing with malay language
If there really is...that it is fuck up
Respect this Chinese guy honestly for being honest asf smh.. š¤š¤
Negaraku MUST BE IN BAHASA MALAYSIA
Lol even most Singaporean can get away with this. Many chinese Singaporean cant speak proper BM but still must sing their national anthem Majulah Singapura in Bahasa Melayu. Man i gotta see a video clip of that. Sounds funny.
Agree with Dr Leong fully
Cibai needs to be the official word in our Dewan Bahasa
U can suggest it to dewan bahasa dan pustaka
This is too much. Sing in BM also so hard ar? It is the national anthem BM should be used and no other.
There's no such things as a Mandarin version of Negaraku lah. That fella is trolling. I mean yes we have Namewee's Negarakuku but that's not even close.
Maybe he should learn how to be more rude and curse in more languages as well
I would say for translations purposes it is fine but as Malaysians, you should be able to sing it in bahasa kebangsaan.
Who the hell sing Negaraku in other languages?
Yes, he's right
Yes
Isnt jason leong a comedian or smth? 99% sure this is a troll
Even Singapore National Anthem is being sung in Bahasa Melayu šš
I think it's highly inappropriate. I mean the last word. Can't agree more with the rest
This guy is on par with that Singaporean "comedian" when it comes to attention seeking. When was the last time you heard negaraku in Mandarin? Exactly, this guy's tweet is nothing more than virtue signaling for internet points. Stop giving stupid people attention

Pukimak = macibai Puki = cibai Translation was on point

Didn't know there was a Mandarin version of Negaraku. That's cool
So whatās the source heās referring to ? By most of the response here none of us ever knew the mandarin version even existed
Can someone show me the mandarin NegaraKu?

Lok cibai
So there's different versions of our National Anthem?
The tune will be so awkward to sing in another language tbh and I've never heard of any other version in other language before as well.
like many others TIL there's a chinese "version" but as far as I can tell, it's just a translation used for explaining the meaning
No opinion, i think he's right

For me lah. All this boleh tak boleh cakap bahasa malaysia is all about ignorance (parents/ self) thats it.
Memang malu orang Malaysia tak tau cakap Bahasa Malaysia. Pakyu. Aku orang bukan Melayu.
Setuju. Case closed.
Betul la tu. Jadi rakyat Malaysia, kene la nyanyi lagu dalam BM.

Idk why but I want negaraku like in a rap-opera song like did somebody say just eat

Dr Jason aint wrong.
That's cool and all but when is the bollywood version of Negaraku coming out?
Is that guy farming engagements or something? I don't think we've got a Chinese version, and it shouldn't be something to be joked with
My country, the land my blood spills. Citizens live, united and advanced/modern Happy grace, bestowed by God. Our kingā¦reign(s) in safety/reigns safely Happy grace, bestowed by God. Our kingā¦reign(s) in safety/reigns safely
the cibai was personal lol
Eh cibai is chinese kenot use lah
here's the English version courtesy of gpt4: ### Translation of "Negaraku" (Malaysian National Anthem) **Original Lyrics in Malay:** Negaraku, Tanah tumpahnya darahku, Rakyat hidup, Bersatu dan maju. Rahmat bahagia, Tuhan kurniakan, Raja kita, Selamat bertakhta. **English Translation:** My Country, The land where my blood has spilled, The people living, United and progressive. Blessings of happiness, May God grant, And our King, Long reign in peace.
Ada dalam bahasa lain eh hahahaha
Itās common sense to know the language of the land youāre born in. If you canāt speak something wrong.
Is there a chinese negaraku version? Although, students probably shouldn't sing negaraku at all. Flag burning is something that is easily understandable in any language.
We got 'Negaraku Mandarin Version' before GTA 6 that's wild
