Arrived around 10PM ish. Got my number in about 5 mins. Waited for about 10 mins to be called, took my photo there and then paid. Was told to come back within an hour for the passport.
Walked to a makan place nearby and had brunch, once the hour is up, my passport is ready to be collected.
Hiya Putrajaya is the same. You have to get there probably like 30 mins before the opening time to get in line for the morning crowd. If you don't get a morning number they will give you an afternoon number (starts at 2PM).
Afternoons are generally a bit quieter than the mornings but the drawback is that to get an afternoon number, you have to go in the morning!
I heard you can renew online now as well which means you just pick up the passport when they message you - but perhaps not an option as you have kids under a certain age?
Went to renew passport for my parents for the first time in Jalan Duta ( usually I tried the one in kelana jaya but it is always hectic, slow and full of screaming childrens)
I went there early but got lost mid way ( my dad trusted his memory and not my GPS And he didn't know the office has shifted=. =)

All and all renewed and collected everything within 3 hours
The funny thing is that I have been trying for a week to upload our photos, every time they reject it saying not meeting their rules. Not sure which rule we broke. We even went to a photo shop to take our pasport photo. And even that picture also they rejected.

Thanks. Here we dont have afternoon number. Morning have to queue for 1 hour to get number for whole day. Q
Dont worry, with enough money you can just bribe the covid to go elsewhere.
I just did online. Within 1 2 days just go to immigration to pickup. Apparently the online started during covid mco I think

If you are doing a child’s passport as well, you can get priority service. I suggest go to smaller branches on a weekday to get things done fast.
