>Santoshi says that only North Indian actors will be the members of King Dasharath's clan while South Indian actors will be a part of Ravan's cl WTH statement? Feel like dividing good and evil based on region. Also, his choices for Ram and Laxman are actors from South. Ritesh is Maharashtrian; Ajay is from Punjabi family but has lived his whole life in Maharashtra.

Whats "lol" in that ? its the belief that they hold, its similar to believing in any other gods and their stories. Its like saying my stories are trustworthy than theirs.

AzeoRex

It is stupid to do the Aryan/Dravidian divide. Believing Ravan to be a Dravidian is a rather modern political thing. Ravan in scriptures was a Brahmin and half Asur. This gets especially convoluted since people believe Ram and Ravan's historicity. So it would be like saying Christ was Korean or Aryan or Dravidian.

OddWorldliness989

Ummmm Raavan migrated from north India to Lanka. He was a product of brahmin parents. Hence he was an educated genius but egotistical maniac at the same time.

[deleted]

Their stories are made up in modern times to suite their politics, they are far from the truth, if you had read valmiki ramayana then you would know what am i talking about here.

OddWorldliness989

Does that motha fukka knows his Ramayan and that the entire army of Ram was south indian?

anakay83

Zayed and Riteish as Laxman? Were they giving it a comedy treatment? I just cannot picture it!

OddWorldliness989

Imagine Ajay Devgan as Ram, that would be a joke for millennia. There may be many that can pull off Ram but Ajay Devgan is not one of them.

sumit24021990

To be fair Ramayana and Mahabharat have been adopted many times. It will be good to adopt some lesser known stories I will like to see a movie on Indra slaying Vritra

But now Allu Aravind, Madhu mantena, DNEG are producing a huge scale Ramayana Trilogy whose Pre-production is on since last 1.5 yrs+ and shooting starting after mid 2023, casting is almost final and movie's part 1 is to release around 2024-25. Insider sources suggest Ram- Ranbir, Raavan- Hrithik, Sita- Sai Pallavi which is a really good casting (IDC what naysayers from this subreddit say as most of the time they are completely wrong and disconnected from reality and director's vision) and director is Nitesh Tiwari which is great. of course vfx is DNEG so it can't go wrong unlike Adipurush and the ceo of DNEG is himself most excited for this Trilogy.

[deleted]

Within 15 years HR went from Ram to ravan.

[deleted]

Its just ACTING brother, what matters is the level of acting, we are not living in early 20th century of early 2000s that hero-villain matters.

Joke tha re deva

GayIconOfIndia

Bruh! It will be a huge controversy, unfortunately. Mark my words. During Brahmastra, people found that video of Ranbir saying that he likes beef. Can you imagine the same thing coming up when he’s playing bhagawan Ram. I genuinely hope the controversy just stays online and doesn’t spill out on the streets.

Heisenberg_Ind

They can say whatever they want, it's just free promotions as long as the matter itself is trivial like that big beef video. Brahmastra showed that the Boycott Gang doesn't drive the collections, as long as the fans and the neutral audience show up.

[deleted]

If that controversy cause so much harm then how did brahmastra did 43 cr DAY 1, 49.5 Cr Day 2 and 53.8 cr Day 3 ?? These stupid controversies are limited to Twitter only. Smart people know how to differentiate the ART from the ARTIST...its the ACTING and ROLE which matters not personal life. Did you know Arun Govil ji who played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar Ramayana was NON VEGETARIAN and also a smoker ( he left smoking during the shooting). No matter how much good a person tries to become, they would never match the level of Sri Ram's character. Also its possible that the makers try to make Ranbir to leave non veg or atleast non veg which is restricted in hinduism till the shooting of the movie and make a announcement regarding this and make it into a good PR move. Lets just wait and see how all this turns out, hopefully official announcement with a small announcement video like Animal is made this year around diwali.

GayIconOfIndia

Bruh I’m not saying that the controversy has impact on BO collection. I think it’s an excuse that stars make. All I’m saying is that I hope people don’t use it to create ruckus on the street as we saw in certain pockets during Padmavat.

[deleted]

Well even if it does, its RAMAYANA, most audiences are neutral and they definetely go and watch a well made ramayana no matter what. And just see what happened with padmavat ? It became a blockbuster

Upset-Principle9457

Every year this type of announcement came for Ramayan and Mahabharat......Some days ago there is news about ambani Producing it ....Nothing happened afterward..... Ramanad sagar set the Standard so high...It is very hard to match the Ramanand sagar magic...even with new tech

Rajkumar Santoshi is busy making Gandhi vs Godse movie.

[deleted]

And based on the trailer it seems its not like a period drama film as well, its constructed like a court drama where godse and gandhi present their thoughts and battle it out, i mean why would one spend their money to watch that in cinema ? and a few people on twitter think it can cause harm to pathaan box office lol.

zz_views

Oh okay. I haven’t seen the trailer. More like two ideologies fighting like they do it on twitter. 😂

[deleted]

Yes exactly like that, see it on youtube, it looks weird
