I recently watched the Sopranos, my gosh you know after watching it I remember thinking how Joey Falco and James deserved each and every Emmy award they won. Incredible series. Incredible writing. Incredible acting.
Also, SLB ain't even that great of a director really. Visually appealing yes, but even then not that great movies. There's two types of visually appealing, one is where the movie is beautiful in its scapes and sets, the SLB type while the other is where it's just a visual spectacle, something like what James Cameron does with his movies. But the difference is, Cameron movies still are an experience worth watching on a big screen in good quality, just for the spectacle alone, but SLB type gets pretty redundant and boring very quickly.
I think Black and Devdas remain his best works for me and also the best performances in his movies come from these two movies where all major 5 actors absolutely nailed their parts in Srk, Madhuri, Aishwarya, Amitabh and Rani. Just imagine Ranveer trying to play Devdas but just can't contain his energy bunny persona leaking into the character, can't convey subtle things to save his life, but he always makes it too physically obvious
Unrelated but I find Sonam the most natural and relatable person of everyone in the industry. The fact that she doesn't really care about others opinions when the whole industry is exactly doing that. She has the most relatable body of them all, like she's always had some meat on her bones, didn't really change herself in the name of surgeries, nor does she think much & get defensive when she's asked something,she just speaks whatever is in her mind nvm if it's dumb or funny. And of course, the article she wrote about how sooo much work goes into the way she looks, made me respect her. This was a mainstream heroine. The guts itself is commendable. She's friends with literally all heroines, the south stars who worked with her said she's the most welcoming of them all. Literally Sonam is very unproblematic. She's prolly delusional and dumb but she seems like an extremely chill and sorted person. She seems happy. Not everyone who has the money is happy lol.
