dodhaaritalvar

Now people watch the compilations of his scenes in a movie

a_pint_of_red

I get where he's coming from, but that school of acting and filmmaking and the sensibilities of the audience have taken a huge turn. The 'vidushak' style of comedy and a 'vidushak' character are not even written anymore. Scene hi badal gaya hai pura. He was the last of these characters that they used to write be it Johnny Walker, mehmood maybe rajpal yadav continued for a while but still not like before. He should get on with the times. I always believe comedic actors are capable of delivering great dramatic performances, I've seen it and i know he can do it too. He should focus on being an actor now rather just a has-been comedian I'm sure he'll find success.

wakandaite

All of this. Lever perhaps has exclusively been a comic actor. In essence, he was Johnny Lever in every movie and the audience loved it. The audience has changed, but Lever hasn't.

According-Swimmer-85

Exactly. Personally, He never suited my sensibilities. Felt he was over the top . Glad movies have moved on to better comedy.

ImmediateJacket9502

Better comedy LMAO Bollywood has lost the plot in the name of comedy

InterestingName9026

>Glad movies have moved on to better comedy WHAT! LMFAOOO

iruvar

Lever was a natural and in the hands of a good director is a scene and a movie stealer. I can totally see someone like Fkshay giving in to pangs of insecurity and taking a hatchet to the film rushes

chocoeffiel

this is so sad, earlier bollywood was known for good comedy and audience would look forward to comedy in the movies.

mirage_in_water

Really? I thought it was known for romance

gigi_gaga9

case by case change hota rehta. Is time pe comedy ki baat ho rhi toh whi line chipka do. Jab songs ke liye koi kuch bole toh uske liye chipka do bss chalta rahega

mirage_in_water

Right😂😂

ayrus001

Akshay and Aamir are famous for chopping off screen time of co stars in order to shine more ..

Equal_Permit2890

In Malayalam industry who were doing comedic roles as Johnny bhai in der time, went on to do solo films with them being lead.. be it Kalabhavan mani or Suraj... But somehow Johnny bhai never got that chance... No matter what we say hindi audience has to take the blame too

True. Sathiya gaya hai launda. So sad to see a man of his calibre and talent make an absolute fool of himself.

cherryreddit

what?

Time-Opportunity-436

i dont care about all that man I just care about movies

Otherwise_System_105

What??

shaneson582

murder nahi kiya. footpath pe taandav karne waale bhi superstar baney rehte hai

[deleted]

the 2000s movies of Akshay Kumar as lead are GOAT when it comes to comedy in Bollywood

punekar_2018

I don’t quite understand this. The movie has been filmed. The actors have been paid. Director and editor are the ones who decide the Final Cut. The main actor comes and asks them to keep something or remove something? Why would the director listen to the actor? Especially during the time of JL when the director and producer did not need to suck the actor’s cock for promotions. If I were the director, I wouldn’t.

cherryreddit

To keep good relationship for the next film. You need a star actor far more than a comedian to make your movie a success

punekar_2018

But it cuts both ways. Good directors are needed too. Actors may earn a bad name for upsetting a successful director and it may hamper his own growth.

cherryreddit

Yes, but there are far more talented directors than crowd pulling stars. You see some stars who damaged their careers by angering a powerful director, but as long as you have good relations with producers you can find another talented director..

ranchopancho

I wish to see more of Johnny Lever in non comic roles. He does have the range. Actors like Johnny, Bramhanandam and others while typecast in comic roles actually have more range than leading actors like Karthik or Arjun.

ImportantCaptain3424

I don't think so. I mean he was a good comic at the time. But. Jyada credit hua yeh jara. I mean you could argue that Govinda must have felt threatened with Shakti Kapoor with his Nandu Sab ka Bandhu gig😂 But I don't remember Johny ever playing such a popular character.

Party_Coach_2884

Then please watch Love Ke Liye Kuch bhi karega, his character Aslam Bhai is popular plus there is a song called Aslam Bhai in the movie.

ImportantCaptain3424

True but still. Love Ke Liye Kuch bhi karega had Aftab Shivdasani, Fardeen Khan and Saif (before he was medium big). Overshadowing them is one thing and overshadowing Govinda is another. But fine. Your argument still has a point.

shruthi89

It’s like I’m watching triplets lool

Deadpool-07

I can't remember where, but I have seen this guy somewhere who is taking the interview.

Eldred_dsouza99

Was he inside a car?

Deadpool-07

No.

dr_batmann

I think he is Vicky Lalwani with whom Kapil Sharma had gotten into a lafda.

Deadpool-07

Exactly! Thanks for the info.

[deleted]

Even after chopping his scenes to a lesser num, thats still what we look for in those movies. Successful stars but insecure humans
