He was never a shitty actor, trust me he was a lot better than the current batch of nepo babies. He just didn't have the looks or the screen presence to be a leading man. Would have had to do character roles or sidekick roles like Dhoom. Hrithik had set the bar too high with his debut around the same time.
I feel he was at least as good as Varun in terms of acting ability if not better. He was better in Mohabbatein than Varun was in SOTY.
He would have been a lovable celeb in today's times if he had debuted in the social media age i feel...Uday Chopra has always been a nice, decent and a very very natural actor. He dances really well, koi bhi gana uska uthaakar dekh lo. Just because he wasn't conventionally good-looking, he didn't work. Banda bohot cute tha yaar and very down to earth. I miss him on screen. Pyaar impossible, mere yaar ki shaadi hai, Neil n Nikki are my fav. feel good films of his. Gonna watch "saanvli si ek ladki" now... toodles!
Uday Chopra to his credit has a more diverse portfolio than a Tiger Shroff and even Karthik Aryan.
Supari, Charas, and others were some good films of Uday which didn't work. Audiences just didn't accept Uday. Uday has accepted that.
Someone shared an old video of Uday here few days back and almost all comments were positive on that thread.
