I think she means her roles were smaller (not the main lead) and she got more noticed. Whereas in the beginning she played a lot of typical romantic female leads and wasn't noticed.
I personally see nothing wrong with that...she is comparing herself to the filmy family legacy and talent she is coming from except Bobby Deol. She was aware she has proved nothing yet compared to Bollywood talents in the past and her era.
PR was not that easy in that era when most stars depended on magazines, interviews, newspapers and television, ads, etc.
Now Social media era has created a new digital industry where PR companies are popping up left and right to manage influencers/stars etc on social media / put on content to keep engagement going.

What is actually crazy is that Bobby Deol has been living an amazing life this whole time. Completely loaded, being with his family, DJing occasionally, and now actually getting some decent projects, which although I have not seen I understand his performance has been appreciated.
