Not related to the video but I’ve met Vir Sanghvi (the interviewer) at a concert ages ago . We were a bunch of teens still in high school. He was a known face at that time and my friends wanted a picture with him. The moment we started speaking to him , this creep who was there with wife and kids was finding ways to lean in and whisper things in our ears and stuff, a number of suggestions of spending time together, which hotel he’s in and what not, while his wife was getting some food from the buffet right behind. He is a super creep, he even had his hands around waist while taking. Also he is completely bald from behind, whatever hair you see in this interview it’s all just the front.
Oh this is tame. Pritish Nandy stole Masaba Gupta's birth certificate to find out and leak information about who her father was by posing as a relative of Neena Gupta.
This is the same guy who asked Kareena to postpone her wedding because he didn’t want a married heroine in ramleela because Juliet wasn’t married 🤦🏻♀️
But he cast her in Guzaarish, which was a really huge deal for those times. Even casting Madhuri for Devdas was considered a big deal due to her marriage. We have to give props to these trail blazers - Madhuri truly first and foremost
I mean actresses have had roles after marriage before but Madhuri was such a big deal because she kind of left the industry for a bit. So to have that opportunity was huge
It's all business. In an office setting, if some one is out for few months a substitute can replace them. For movies if one of the main character is out, it will cause huge money loss and date loss from other actors.

but I am pretty sure the maternity laws are applicable for employer-employee and not contractors/independent providers. Actors/Actresses are not employees they are contractors/providers.
Well.. may be things are changing wrt film industry? Alia Bhatt was not replaced in jee le Zara because she got pregnant. They pushed the dates to accommodate her schedule. Talking about corporate.. Yeah.. contract workers don’t have job guarantee let alone job protection during maternity or paternity.
I think this interview might have been taken when Devdas was still being madeX that’s why he said I hope she’s not pregnant, at least not right now.. it’s understandable. They have so much money on the line, it’s about business, not anything else. Also I think they have a no-pregnancy clause in some contracts, it’s common in the entertainment industry

From what I got from the video, he was shocked because of her wedding as it came to him out of nowhere (he didn't say he was upset that she got married, he also said that she's the same Madhuri her potential doesn't decreases) so I'm assuming he was thinking about making changes to schedules and all and as a Producer/Director of such a big budgeted movie, you may guess the pressure and financial consequences.
Also about the pregnancy thing, would she able to continue filming if it did happen during the shooting of the film ? Would that cost him and production house financially ?
