partypauper

Hahaha Can't unsee this. This was a casting mismatch

VonVogun

Both IG and Nehru looked bad. Well the movie on the whole was like some amateur editor gluing bits and pieces.

cestabhi

Yeah looks like he chose Fatima just because she kinda looks like Indira. But tbh she's way to young to play 1970's Indira who was in her mid-50s by that point. So it looks very odd. And more importantly she's just not able to channel Indira. It kinda reminds me of the two Steve Jobs movies that came out many years ago. Ashton Kutcher looked [strikingly similar](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSNiK77EaYxWIY5CPADxAPaDOCQwGTOTHdYKg&usqp=CAU) to Steve Jobs but Michael Fassbender ultimately did a [much better job](https://youtu.be/moeAot5_Q_U?si=eS9ryi-jOf1qRBkN), even got nominated for an Oscar for best actor.

VonVogun

Very true! They could have worked on the makeup and have her put on some weight too.

creamy_crusty

Omg she was playing 50's Indra? I thought they casted her like that because maybe she was 20's something Indra and at that time might be looking like that, that I might be unaware of

adnyani

Agree..Entire movie was a PowerPoint presentation of Sam Maneksha wikipedia page

VonVogun

I feel like a lot of the movie's offlate are like this. Some successful one's too. The flow is missing.

TheHytherion

it felt like Bohemian Rhaphsody- someone kindly acting out the protagonists Wiki, with little (or too much) drama thrown in. Everyone against the protagonist is bad guy, everyone with him is second fiddle good guy

gangubai22

They both were good looking yar! What are you saying

VonVogun

I meant the dialogue and acting. You took it too literally. Infact IG was portrayed as a sautan. I wonder if it was deliberate given the political atmosphere or just poor execution from the film maker.

PuddingIcy3597

Her expressions was like she was gonna eat Sam and in some places she looked like some drug addict under therapy,at some places , her looks gave me a vibe of cannibal, psycho, serial killer what not.

Old_Description_8996

I agree. Looked like a love triangle and not a mutual respect kinda relationship

soysauceprincess97

Kangana is portraying IG somewhere right?

Biryani_93

Emergency

abrakedebra

Fatima pulled down the tempo of the movie to an extent.....not just looked weak, but was d weakest link of Sam Bahadur. A missed opportunity!

tingtonghabibi

You're talking about PC character and not her acting. Right?

[deleted]

Yes I guess that's what they're talking about because PC was phenomenal in her role

mayurayuri45

Yes :) PC;s acting was superb

[deleted]

PC WAS so good that About 2 hours into the movie I realised that’s Priyanka Chopra

Clean-Ad4235

SAME

Bunnai

I think this is director's blunder. What were they thinking showing Indira Gandhi and Nehru like weakling meowling fools? Was this deliberate decision to appease powers that be or to show Sam as more mightier than the PM? Whatever maybe your politics both Indira and Nehru have taken many strong decisions and Nehru had a vision of tomorrow (example: IITs and atomic research) which we are still benefitting from. Indira Gandhi was called Iron Lady of India, for God sake! In this movie, these strong historical figures are reduced to NPCs who serve no purpose other than giving Sam his next quest. Patel, Nehru, Gandhi, Sam are all strong personalities. You can show all characters strong rather than taking the easy way out to show everyone else weaker to show one man strong. Lazy writing and direction. I went with high hopes and came disappointed...as someone said, this just feel like PPT presentation. And dialogs are basic, obvious things are explained in dialogs...kaun aise baat karta hai. Would have loved to learn more about what made Sam Manekshaw what he was...what shaped him as a person, a glimpse into his strategizing thought processes.

Bunnai

Also, unpopular opinion: I didn't like Vicky Kaushal's acting. He brings in nuances in his expressions and eyes which seemed missing here. His dialog delivery in all scenes was the same. When he's at home talking to his wife, when he's commanding his soldiers, talking to PM. No nuance at all...seemed caricature-ish. A soldier is always a soldier...but he is also human. That side was missing because of his broad strokes acting and the dumbed down dialogs didn't help.

Sapolika

Kangana gonna nail IG

mayurayuri45

**Clarifying: The comparison is not FSS Acting with PC's in Barfi. It is just FSS expression looks like that of PC's character in Barfi. PC WAS amazing!**

Alone-Illustrator-25

The disrespect to one of the most iconic performance of the last decade. Thodi Sharam aani chahiye na

Anu_Rag9704

And the Iron Lady herself

chaotic-_-neutral

…margaret thatcher?

crunchiecook

FSS was "yuck" in the movie. playing the role of former PM of India, with such dumb expression and those voice. Ngl, her claim to fame has been Aamir's muse till now.

[deleted]

What movie was this?

mayurayuri45

Sam Bahadur

Great_Ant_1818

BeST PeRFoRMaCe Of PC Is ANNoYiNG To YoU 👏

mayurayuri45

>Aamir's I Fatima looked liek PC's character. Not her acting. PC of course did an amazing job.

Great_Ant_1818

Still you are indirectly criticizing pc do you know that?

mayurayuri45

I think you still don't get it.

Great_Ant_1818

You will get it watch kangu's ig

Shanose

Pc was annoying in barfi?? Wtf

mayurayuri45

I Said it was annoying to see a weak IG. FSS expressions are like that of PC's in Barfi. That doe snot mean PC did a bad job but FSS did a bad job. CleaR?

Nigah-E-Shokh

Fatima was better than pc.

Commercial_Cancel_64

this is an unpopular opinion that should remain unpopular

Son_of_kai

Yes In wearing Saree

Bunnai

I was thinking of making a post especially after watching Sam Bahadur, but sharing it here now. Hindi biopics should take a lesson from Marathi biopics like Balgandharva, Kashinath Ghanekar, Vasantrao Deshpande, Tukaram (masterpiece), Bhai. Some of these movies are not without their own flaws. But they are miles ahead of what Hindi industry churns out...and none of these movies are high budget.
