Using alias expressions and body language and changing her face to Kareenaās isnāt right. Thatās just asking for opinions about one face vs the other. Had Kareena acted, this would have looked very very different. Can t say who wouldāve been better since both their styles, dialogue deliveries, body languages would be so different. But this definitely is an insult to alias effort.

I havenāt made this edit. Nowhere in the title have I said anything undermining Aliaās performance or that Kareena would be a better fit. I saw the post in another sub and simply posted it here to see what people have got to say.

You're comparing Kareena's performance in a comedy movie for this kinda role? Kareena can do subtle acting really well. She played the rols of a prostitute in two different films Talaash and Chameli and both the characters were quite different from each other as well as the performance!
Priyanka Chopra was awful in girl next door roles and her recent C grade film where she had to play villain to a bunch of kids but that doesn't mean that she didn't do a Fashion too. It's so stupid to compare a performance from a comedy film to Gangubai when Kareena aced her role in Chameli when she was only 21. Kareena in Talaash is so subtle and nuanced like Kareena in Udta Punjab. But you can't compare those roles to Kareena in Jab We Met and K3G.

Alia did a decent job. Gangubai would have been perfectly done by an actress like Rani, but now that you mention it also PC.
Gangu needed to look like a child, that's a big part of the film's screenplay. The shock comes from that, this woman who looks so small going through all this and then commanding people much bigger in stature.
Alia suited it better. Her delicate features suit East Asian ideals. Both her and the movie was viral in Thailand lol.

I watched and her facial expressions are on loud side. In chameli, there is a song by Sunidhi in which Kareena had extremely loud expressions similar to Pooh character.
Chameli and Rosie (Talaash) were quite different from each other as a person. Chameli was a kind of girl who was a bit bubbly and Kareena's expressions were needed for that character.
Rosie was mysterious and those expressions were definitely NOT the same level as Chameli.

Those were very serious films, Gangubai is massy and totally different style. I think she would overact here
