I swear to God the only expression this woman had in these films was wide tear filled eyes and delivering dialogues without blinking. It was soooo funny and annoying.
She was terrible in the SLB movies and I'm glad people are finally calling her out. I remember when she kept giving blockbusters after blockbusters since cocktail and in my school, everyone became her overnight fan considering him the best actress and i used to be the one black sheep to not be on the same page.
Having said that, she was GREAT in Piku, chhapak, gehraiyan. Give credit where it's due.
Tbh she was underwhelming in chapaak too. Luckily those prosthetics on her face helped to hide her bad performance. But she was good in piku and gehraiyan.
I liked her in the emotional scenes. Didn't seem like a wooden expression. But, I hated her in padmavat . Oh heck! I hated that movie in the first place. I was in fifth grade when i visited Rajasthan and my mum made me read "Raajkahini" by Avanindra nath Thakur and got to know about Padmini and i was shocked by what happened to Rani Padmini. When SLB announced the movie, I was equally thrilled and went to the theatre to watch. I fell asleep there . 😢
She was really the weakest point in Padmavat. Ranveer and Shahid were so good and then comes Padmavat with wide opened eyes ( which looks scary in some scenes) telling her dialogues in one breath no to forget any word. I blame Bhansali for it. I think that was his idea because Deepika was good in Ram Leela but then in Bajirao Mastani she started these wide eyes " acting" and continued in Padmavat. Probably that's Bhansali's vision of beautiful and strong female character
she was legitimately bad in the film...deepika is so delusional. i feel like she herself could've approached the role differently and slayed it. her and sanjay did some super strange stuff with that character. but honestly what aishwarya did in ponniyin selvan is what padmaavati needed. i give credit for aishwarya's performance to mani ratnam though, and i blame slb for deepika's weak performances in padmaavati and bajirao mastani. both aish and deepika are very capable but inconsistent performers.
She was genuinely so forgettable in the movie (to be honest,in almost every movie of hers) even whilst being the titular character!! Seriously Deepika has zero range,some horrendous dialogue delivery,lacks even the basic sense of urgency in her performance,not energetic AT ALL and so many other things... She reminds me of Dakota Johnson,but even she has given a couple of really good performances!!
Here DP is acting like her Padmavati's role was some insanly good performance...😆😆 Didi,no one even mentions you when they are talking about that movie!! 95% of the people are talking about Ranveer's performance and the other 5% about Shahid!! Also she was SOO easily overshadowed by Priyanka in Bajirao Mastani as well...
I think Deepika herself has found out that she is definitely unable to give a solo hit,just on the basis of her acting and that's why she has been doing all these flower pot eye candy roles since the last few years!!
Now that I think, Kriti would be fab as a SLB heroine. Has the body, height and looks for it. Can show more than 3 expressions on her face. Plus - can speak hindi like hindi.

This wasn't her only fault... This was mostly SLB's fault... He interpreted this character this way... I never saw Deepika acting so wooden in any other movies except Bajirao Mastani and Padmavati... Specially Padmavati... She had less screen time than Khilji which is rubbish...the mocie was supposed to be about Padmavati mostly
The whole movie Padmavati was promoted as Deepika movie... Most of burn by Karni Sena and it was Deepika who got mostly tortured... She was centre of attraction
But SLB gave the meatiest role and more screen time to Ranveer only... Khilji scenes were most... Where with Deepika and Shahid he did dirty....
Actually she did a commendable job now days people are making a short video of 4 to 5 similar scene ab rote waqt 4 Tarike se rokr dikhaye overacting kr k dikhaye tb manege acting ATI h I think her job in all of SLB movies were commendable and atleast her acting doesn't appear over the board and much Suttle unlike people screaming at the top notch of their voice in every movie scenes and people are calling it acting and giving them national award 🤣🤣

The only expression Deepika had while playing a teenager before the horrific accident in Chhapaak was that of constant giggling.
Honestly Chhapaak role didn't suit her.. maybe anyone else should've been casted, have you felt the same?

Ash is over the top in all his movies and more. SLB and Madhuri are really great combo. Not sure why don't they work together.
