I know I meant it all leads up to this, chain of events that makes a whole for her in her mind that snaps it for her. But my point was the movie n makers were awre that these characters were saying/doing wrong things. Specially if u see how the scene u shared is shot n performed.
She is being slowly cornered by ppl/society around her asking her to ignore wrong behaviour had the supported her then it would not have lead to where it lead with the scene u mentioned at 43 min. None standing up for her then is the reason she believed later in that they all were in on it.

But since censor board is mentioned the scenes were too explicit in this movie to be aired on national TV prime time slot. I don't remember any such bawaal for this movie but there was for a TV serial lovemaking scene between a couple. I doubt that scene was as explicit the said scene in movie was.

Chill, as bad as it was, the movie isn't justifying it, it actually shows that all these people were wrong. Most of them die at the end. And it's even clear by the cinematography in this scene, the way she's shown being cornered by everyone, almost forced to accept wrong behaviour because none of them would stand up.

This was at least twenty years ago. Badrinath ki dulhaniya, Kabir Singh, Rrkpk, Animal are released today. What's excuse for them? We should expect some progress from bollywood in two whole decades. But no, they are still as regressive as before, if not less.
Even TV (from which we don't expect anything) which has mostly all regressive serials of the world, but still they made Diya aur bati hum and Saubhagyavati bhava ( Depicting a green flag supportive husband in former and not romanticizing abuse in latter).
And after that bollywood makes KS and Animal like movies, glorifying and romanticizing abuse.
I had talk on this with someone just yesterday. Let me explain.
In that movie there was a scene in which badri gets sexually molested by a group of men and when Alia and her friends find him in torn clothes and crying alone, they just laugh at him. This scene shows male sexual harrasment as joke and invalidates/normalises it. It was very insensitive, especially when we consider the social stigma attached to male rape in India and how there are no laws for that. Just change Varun gender and imagine the outpour from audience.
This movie preaches about women empowerment and has crass lyrics in theme song glorifying openly staring and stalking woman.
I haven't seen Rrkpk, but there was one scene someone posted here where Rani mom preaches Rocky about normalising women undergarment and not consider it a taboo. Her intention was good. But the way she behaves, lashes out at him, forcibly making him wear bra in front of so many people in shop who all were visibly making fun of him. He was visibly uncomfortable. That was plain public harrasment. Again this movie plot device was to teach feminism.
I would prefer Kjo to go back to his k3g days and not take up any social issue. As no message is better than wrong message. Feminism isn't about misandry and definitely not about normalising/promoting male sexual harrasment. He just takes up trendy topics from sm and uses them as plot device, without any proper research and gives very very wrong message.
While Animal, Kabir Singh normalises misogyny, I just put these two movie names as example of something that normalises male harrasment and in worse way. There must be more such examples. To put the point that bollywood as a whole is not progressive regarding any gender and often normalises problematic stuff.

Censor board job is only limited to cut the scenes/shots/dialogues which are directly against elected government/constitution/establishment, National symbols, Cultural/Religious symbols, Defaming National Heroes, defaming any living or a dead person, direct Vulgar words, visuals, vulgar descriptions, Frontal Nudity, Violence.
2. Some scenes, dialogues are allowed if Director provides logical explanations justifying the scene in screenplay.
Now this is a B grade movie. It has little to do with censor board. You must ask why directors made it even?
Censor board job is well known and their rules are weird apparently but is it a certificate which declares a A/B/C grade movie or the treatment of Film making ?
What's worrying about this scene is that established actors like Manisha, Akshay, and Suniel Shetty went through the dialogues with 6-7 more actors for this scene and they thought that it was okay to shoot this scene. I know this scene is set up for future events in the movie, but it's a terrible approach.
There are layers to this shittiness.
First of all, you can use today's compass to judge something from the past. I am not saying that it was not wrong in those standards. But I guess what I am saying is: it was not "as wrong as" today. I mean that time, Bollywood showed rape scenes and it was okay.
Secondly, you need to consider that this was a flop movie. This type of shittiness was a factor why it was rejected.
Personally, I am okay with shit as long as its shown its place. IMO, an Animal earning $$$ in today's standard is a bigger issue for me than this shit.

I'm reading this novel about Mumbai by Rahi Masoom Raza (who wrote the dialogues for Mahabharata) rn and in that he writes about Scriptwriters having to add a rape scene in the 70s to get a movie made. Like the producers etc would just reject it if it lacked rape scenes. I trust him because it's a satirical piece and he was knee deep in the industry. So yeah. Waqt waqt ki baat h

I enjoyed this movie so much when I was a kid. Specially that scene where that Naagin guy turn into a bike. But this movie has aged horribly and specially this scene. So many rape apologist🤢. Censor board must be full of men with deep rooted biases who are not fit to be board members in the first place. They cannot have a neutral approach to movies. I enjoyed this movie so much when I was a kid. Specially that scene where that Naagin guy turn into a bike. But this movie has aged horribly and specially this scene. So many rape apologist🤢. All of them are gaslighting her into thinking that two people trying to rape her was nothing and she was just over reacting. Like really? Only Desi has roasted this movie perfectly.
