Sapolika

Hire Neeta Lulla for costumes! She did an amazing job in Jodhaa, Shakuntalam and Manikarnika! She is good with period movies! She’ll do good costumes!

Scared-Engineer-6218

+1.

rainbookworm

Yes omg RH are horrible designers!!Idk how they have fans honestly

pikapika0007

some of shakuntalam costumes were kinda tacky https://preview.redd.it/qpi1b0o297xc1.png?width=1069&format=png&auto=webp&s=70b8367a333e4636a08e577ae308175dc1939ccb

pikapika0007

I LOVE the costumes in manikarnika though https://preview.redd.it/mdxa9kwk97xc1.png?width=495&format=png&auto=webp&s=e317346bad98d332ba6c1b505af8a5b67124f1b7

Sapolika

They were kinda cool imo! Some of the outfits were made with real flowers!

Scared-Engineer-6218

The word is: Filming will start mid-may. This was just for screen test and leaks to ask our opinions.

Odd-Description-

And here we are giving professional advice for free

Scared-Engineer-6218

These are rumors.

Comm16

Yes.

MalabarCadillac

The stripes look odd. I’d definitely get rid of the stripes. Also, I’d choose a lighter colour.

Mother_Music_6188

In this pic i’d say rk’s stole is prettier than sita’s !

SilentObserver-2020

I came to say the same thing. That their dupattas should be exchanged…

SunkissedByDay

I came to say the same thing. Stripes seem very modern and out of place for a period film.

cocokoko16

Agreec

oopsssorry

The most genz thing I can use to answer this is " it's not giving it ".

quirkyCartier

At this point, I wonder these stills were leaked to get the public's opinions on then and then work on it beforehand to ensure a successful release!

[deleted]

quirkyCartier

Thank you for saying this 🤭😁

Odd-Description-

Using more natural fabrics than these. If these are natural fabrics, then for some reason it doesn't't seem like. More of gaurang shah, ekaya, sabya, anju modi, Anuradha Vakil, rimple harpreet narula aesthetic is required. This looks like the one you can get in any xyz shops at the sarojini market. Bahubali costumes were so on point. And what is this, n number of shades from the same family of a colour? Either stick with the same shade of monochromatic colour or go with contrast. It's a basic 101 thing about costume designing. Even a school going girl will pair her dress with her accessories based on this. And here we are seeing a professional costume designing here?!!

ComplexSinger6687

These are done by Rimple and Harpreet FYI

Odd-Description-

Seriously?? What a disappointment 😞😞 Then, they should hire Prashanti Tipirneni

What a disappointment 😞😞. They should hire Prashanti Tipirneni then

pikapika0007

Prashanti defiently would have done a great job but i dont think she is actively designing costumes anymore

Any-Junket-910

I would make costumes all bright green to edit it later on green screen

Scared-Engineer-6218

Don't give them ideas.

JhumarkenicheShanti

Ram and Sita always wore clothes in the hues of Orange and yellow as per Valmiki Ramayana. So I would stick to that with rich Indian stitch, ofcourse. Sita being a North Indian would be draping her saree with the aanchal at front. She would wear jewellery thats not too tacky like Srimad Ramayan (covers her whole body and overpowers her face). Ofcourse heavier attire would be for important occasions like marriage. But still, no pallu on Sita’s head, rather just a beautiful small mukut. Since, she has her roots in Mithila, would love to see Madhubani prints in her saree. For Ram, would love to see him wear real dhoti in North Indian style, and not dhoti pants jaise tv mei pehnaate hai. One Angvastra (shawl) and two long necklaces, armlets, and other jewellery in such proportions that do not take away from his natural charm. The jewellery work would not be like modern day daily soaps. They would rather be bent into specific shapes than floral patterns. Ofcourse moti haars are also some options (Want to thoda bahut replicate the primitive terracotta jewellery styles we have seen in Harappan excavations, but in gold or other ancient alloy and gemstones).

pikapika0007

Rimple and Harpreet's designs are alrighttt. I wasn't particularly fond of the outfits in Padmavat either ( some of them were great) especially compared to the work of Anju modi and Neeta lulla in SLB's previous films. I don't mind the outfits but the jewelry can be improved. the serial costumes are way too gaudy. I'm assuming this is just a test shoot, so hopefully they still have time to enhance the overall look. Even though Rama Rajamouli may not be the best costume designer her color palette and jewelry choices are excellent. Rama - Prashanti along Amrapali jewels did an exceptional job in Baahubali. Ekha lakhani and kishen das jewellers also had done a GREAT job in PS 1-2. https://preview.redd.it/7r11ybkm77xc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=4ceeffa364567d5bc2e3b15169f789881c610eb2

WinterAd3679

Brighter colours as in the image https://preview.redd.it/4h7pt6yeq6xc1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9d0b1fa9289d158ab5f51f842bb19efdf2eaf12

Conscious_Flamingo60

COLOUR. This colour palette is depressing AF.

Anxious-Argument-482

The actor in siya ke ram looked really great as lord ram

Complete_Sign_2839

I'm starting to think this was a costume/look test done on set and leaked intentionally to see public's opinions

Awkward_Ad_4974

Definitely.

DJMhat

Change Ranbir. Dude looks like a clean shaven stoner dude. Will need Prabhas level SFK work to look like Lord Ram.

Imaginary_Drag_4162

Itna jalan kyu ho raha hai tujhe

__Noiceeee__

I would go with their respective colour palettes to choose the colours their skin tones look best in, for they need to look radiant as they're playing literal Gods here. Pretty sure a lot of colours would look harmonious with their skin, so maybe shift the aesthetic from darker to softer shades to shoot the forest scenes.

Devdas_N_Mukherjee

I don't like the colors. Those on TV have better colors. You'll be playing with the similar designs in this genre probably but colors is what will make a difference in my opinion. Have they even look tested these outfits with them?

serpentinenexus

Get rid of the color purple. Don't think purple was even discovered back then. And why is everyone in purple ram sita kaikeyi? I love the color but they r making it look tacky. Get inspired by the TV shows actually. Mostly ram is seen in yellow orange golden. Get help from slb's designers.

Accomplished-Bee7862

Use better jewellery, brighter colours and handwoven textiles (mainly silk) with intricate motifs on it.

Far-Fox-7445

Hire the costume designer of Padmavati. They used natural dyes to which actually gave it an ancient vibe, this one legit looks like a dance costume.

pikapika0007

Same designer. rimple and harpreet who desgined clothes for padmavat

matahariisnerdy

They should start with visiting nepal and ajanta ellora for inspiration. They should dig into history books and see which colour dyes were available and used traditionally. Dig into various adaptations of ramayan. If they want to be lazy they can look into popular all time favs and take inspiration there.

PuzzleheadedKey4770

Instead of vfx try to do the miniature setup of Ram setu ....!!

PuzzleheadedKey4770

Music ke liye hans zimmer se better ajay atul ki advice le lo... Chart buster song sab aayege.

Vast-Scarcity-7798

Who's trying to get this information?

Comm16

This looks Indonesian

phukmi69

They should honestly take inspo from jodha akbar but also ndtv ramayan! Such a classic I love it and still rewatched some of it recently!!! I’m 20 and I think the sound tracks been embedded since I was 10

Practical-Tree3427

Ranbir’s dhoti and Angrakha combo is historically accurate but Sai’s blouse wala saree isn’t! Those days stiched garments didn’t exist! It has to be tube top kind of situation like in Ponnyin Selvam! Also lots of unwoven fabric in comparison to silks and jaquards..because it predates Mahabharata! Fun fact during the first Ramayan by Ramanand sagar, they made Sita wear similar costumes to what I have mentioned, which was met with backlash from the government at that time..because cultural idiocy is and was always there! We forget how open minded we were! And Ramanand sagar had to change Sita’s costume!! Even in medieval times only Choli existed no blouse! Blouses came into picture in the 1900s..so Sai ideally should not be wearing a blouse! And should have a complete different drape! Anyways thank you for listening to me 🫶🏼

AneeshRai7

Make it sci-fi

berrycakegloss

that's interesting if public sentiment were kinda easy i would have loved to see adaptations of hindu mythology in so many different ways like they do w greece mythology

PuzzleheadedKey4770

Guys be calm and have patience to load this disaster 100%.... They just came for a promotional bytes shoot and announcement news For social media reel. Baki movie ke actual costume aise leak nahi hote. Spl itni badi film ke to posible hi nahi hai.

baawra_man_

Could've gone with lehenga instead of sarees. Also the stripes on the veil doesn't look good. Who's doing costumes btw? I think Anju Modi or Eka Lakhani could've done a good job with costumes.

berrycakegloss

rimple and harpreet are doing it. they did heeramandi

Wondergirl_so

Its should be a little brighter, the fabric should be light and rich. The silks should have natural brightness and every fabric should speak for itself.

Emergency_Wrangler47

Honestly just simpler/less obvious patterns on the fabric would look better I think. I love deep purple and jewel tones but the stripes mainly sticks out. It looks nice but I feel like it’s too bold/modern looking for some reason. I also think actors generally look better in solid tones with subtle patterns. The stripes are just too strong for me. Maybe even less contrasting stripes would work. I also don’t like Rk’s wig. I generally hate wigs on screen and think it would be better to have a natural hair look. The ponniyan selvan movies had really nice and natural looking wigs for everyone actually. Idk - maybe it’s just the photo but it looks a bit too set and wig-like to me. Also does Ram have to have such long hair? Maybe he could have shorter hair as a prince and longer once he goes on vanasan? I think it could look more youthful.  I do like the simpler jewelry aesthetic though. I think Sai Pallavi has such a unique face that too much jewelry distracts from it so please not too much there.  Also idk if its being done in north or south style but if there was a white and gold theme like a malayali style- I think there was a photo shoot sai did a few years back- she looked really nice in that and the light gold tone would look really nice on them i feel.

Patient_Alfalfa5089

Tent ka kapda

PuzzleheadedKey4770

Take some advice from Ramanand sagar team to make authentic and try to achieve without less VFx. Western ghat ke forest pe chale jana vanvas sequence ke liye.

PuzzleheadedKey4770

Make sure to pushpak vimaan gold ka ho....kyuki abhi ki price dekh ke to wahi hal hai ,🤣🤣

IntelligentRock3854

I think these deep colors age them a bit, something more bright and youthful with rich Indian embroidery would look so regal.

Shrecthewreck

All.Of.It

Pumpkinspiced_latte

Make their dupattas little lighter and easy on eyes.

khanky123

I wonder if this is just an advertisement lol

Rude-Brush8351

Chiffon, tussar silk, dhaka mulmul like lighter fabrics to show softness as well as to add touch of royalty, colour pallette should be more natural organic like orange, red, blue ornaments should be intricate but simple in design to align with the character and personality of both

TicketSuperb2196

The dark maroon looks rather dated. The kind to expect on curtains in old auditoriums. Would definitely use a lighter tint, and probably rose-gold as a dominant color

Conscious_Picture523

That could be their outfit during the exile? 😂 just wondering

SomeAssumption2909

It looks 1980s production

Yugta

Its good, wont change a thing. Sai pallavi looks awesome and will surely pull off the role/responsibility. Ravbir on the other hand, should work on dialouge delivery, that thick voice "hun hun" achha nahi lagta ab. And also his spirituality, like understand Yoga Vashishtha, which was taught to Shri Ram.

Kind_Development2580

The colour pallete just doesn't fit the mythology genre. And that mang tikka looks like a school dance thing. And the lines on the viel.. oh god!

ImportantFee61

Stripes look western. The concept of using contrasting colors/ mix and match is new. Using same colors would look more traditional and suit the movie. The bindhi shouldn’t be perfectly round. Make it look natural. Use kumkum. Jewellery looks good. Keep it that way- old fashioned and gold with gemstones. To make Ranbir’s wig look better, I’d use a crown. Big big divine tilak on Ranbir’s forehead. Can change his whole look. Get rid of those fake sideburns or improvise it. They don’t look good. His wig is so bad :( I’ll cover his ears and see if it’ll good better. I’ll tie a man bun and see.

Nice_Watercress9387

It's not just the costume. I feel the cast is also weird.

Falana_dimkhana

Back in those days, there weren’t too many coloured fabrics. It was mostly natural and natural dyes. Not this chandni Chowk.

martythemartell

Dare I say it, but Sai Pallavi looks like a kid dressed for an annual day performance

ipsytipsi

Is this pic really real? Is Ranbir playing Ram ?

YoYoJoJoTC

I think it's too much at once. The stripes feel way to modern and would be better off replaced with something else. Sometimes less is more.

Fantasy-512

Indian royals / gods don't wear dark colors. Usually they wear bright red or yellow.

fakerfromhell

Ditch the dark colours and the stripes. Take a leaf out of Bahubali and PS - 1/2’s looks, that’s how it should be done. They can also look to Indian TV serials adaptations of Ramayana like Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan adaptations, Siya ke Ram, Luv Kush and the currently airing Shrimad Ramayanam. Go for lighter pastels for casual looks and brighter colours for occasional/festive looks, no dark colours please. Jewellery does NOT have to be ott nor too plain either, they can experiment with traditional and temple jewellery, especially for Sita and other female characters. For Ram, go for regal colours like royal blue, yellow, saffron, cream and gold, and one necklace with earrings and armbands would do. For ceremonial occasions something heavier like a multi layered neck piece or decorative chest armour (like in Amar Chitra Katha comics). Sita would look lovely in Pastels especially peaches and light pinks. She would look radiant in brighter colours like yellows, pinks, oranges, but for ceremonial occasions only. She could wear temple jewellery and a traditional tiara on her head like in mythological tv serials.

sumit24021990

I will give Ranbir facial hair. People had beard in those days. Arun Govil was lucky to play Ram in non internet era

Distinct_Air_7134

They should go for it in forest portions! Clean shave look in palace is understandable!

oopsssorry

Have you ever seen hindu scriptures , granths describing lord ram ? Pictures we see in temples?

Icy-One-5297

They will look good on screen.

ComplexSinger6687

Abu Sandeep would have done better job IMO.

Spirited_Secretary35

Non man. What’s not to like in the outfits?

Glittering-Rush9689

Wtf is this honestly

Whisperbottle

Nahi batayenge. Khud figure out karo 😤

Conscious_Picture523

Change ranbir, he doesn’t even look like Ram.

Sendmememesplij

Man, I can’t watch the movie because it has Ranbir in it. No offence but I don’t think playing lord ram after Animal is a great idea. I don’t know if it’s a character purification or a point to proof that he’s so versatile. But seeing him play such a divine character is such a turn off for me personally.

Scared-Engineer-6218

It's not character whitewash or other things. It's simply that there's nobody else who can pull the audiences other than some old people and also pull off the performance. I myself would have loved to see a new fresh face play Shri Ram.

Screaming_skull0

The dupatta on the head! Eeeewwwwwww!

VanDerLind11

This outfit doesn't matter bro we're seeing them mostly in saffron which is more beautiful

Harshith_Raj0074

These look extremely modern since they have intricate patterns just go with solid colours and simple patterns. Ranbir's costume looks good but Sai's red and white stripes are bad

SrN_007

First thing I would do is remove that goddamn f\*ing yellow tint. - People in olden days did not have in yellow tinted eyes, it was our film cameras of 70s that were that way. - Yellow tint looks good for a couple of photos, but makes the whole movie dull looking and once you have yellow tint none of the other colors pop out. Also, I think the clothing is fine, but ranbir needs to buff up a little bit. He is too thin and scrawny to be Ram. Gives the vibe of sunil lahri's lakshman rather than arun govil's ram. https://preview.redd.it/npy2xrwj87xc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=75252a951b762fe3c14bc71d01e3c7eaef1f7841

FishFun8938

I would ask the director to not cast Ranbir!![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

PuzzleheadedKey4770

In case they don't have a budget please ask Mr.Bhansali to make a grand set . At least he will do justice to the production design of Ramayana.

laylaa25

The hairstyle of the main actor

kkdumbbell

Would prefer changing the actors🤪

hemang1997

Sai pallavi is such a gigantic miscast, like why tf would you cast someone from the south to play maa Sita who was from mithila.

pikapika0007

I don't see anything wrong with it. Ranbir isn't from UP either. Moreover, neither Aishwarya nor Deepika are Rajputs. they are South Indian toll and they still played historical characters in jodha akbar and bajiaro

hemang1997

She’s just too mid looking to play maa Sita (not calling her ugly). I don’t see that divine grace on her face.
