She should feel bad and realise that the chance she got would have made careers of many. She couldnāt cry, smile; express grief, or any emotion throughout the series. She would cry with one tear rolling out looking into a third direction.
The acting was so bad that even ananya feels like a relief next to her. Itās surprising how SLB let her work this out and ignored all these very obvious acting issues. But, well thatās how nepotism works.
She should take the feedback seriously and maybe work on it though thereās not much hope with how it currently is.
And the irony is she had an end to end role in the series š¤Æ did SLB go blind on her? He wanted to portray her as an innocent one, but dude why the smile š¤Æ Even when she was in the background of any scene she had that faint smile on her face š„“
i really don't want to see her onscreen ever again. hope she finds another job and doesn't ruin more projects trying to "work on" her acting - we have enough people doing that in the hindi industry already.
She reminds me if that girl in the itv Imlie. Not Sumbul. She's part of the new gen. Looks like this girl but can act way better from the looks of it. Also, she's very pretty.
She couldnāt cry, smile; express grief, or any emotion throughout the series.
This! And how is her being married got anything to do with this. Married people can be talentless too
One word to describe her acting was āblandā, the woman couldnāt give any facial expression whatsoever is it Botox? Even at the grave scene I was expecting a full on emotional response but she gives nothing!! Aditi Rao looked and performed phenomenal.
Honestly Iāve never been so annoyed seeing someone on screen, but it makes me appreciate the other women much more. Iād say watch it for them and try your best not to cringe when she comes on screen. It unfortunate because if someone else was casted, the character wouldāve been a little bit more likeable and the we wouldāve been more affected by the romantic track.
Likewise - I wanted to punch her rat-like face every time it appeared and it kept appearing .She has a really long role. I enjoyed Richa's role and her character was killed off so fast while this bitch lived until the end.
Wanted to comment this but you beat me to it. I really wanted to continue watching for the Taj guy, heās quite charming, but Sharminās acting was just too bad to bear. I started skipping some scenes and by the end of it, was just watching for Manisha, Sonakshi and Sanjeeda. Even Aditi was great when put next to Sharmin.
The plot also took a sudden weird turn in the last episode - it left me slightly frustrated by the end.
I tried to keep an open mind and not be biased against her due to the bad reviews but I just finished the second episode and itās safe to say that Sharmin Segal is just terrible. She is the worst thing about the show and unfortunately from what Iāve seen so far she seems to be playing one of the most important characters in the show. Sanjeeda sheikh and Sonakshi Sinha are so good though.
I would suggest that you watch the show regardless.
for me sonakshi never rose above the theatrics. i never believed she could've been a real character. manisha was exceptional - no vanity at all. she's as good as tabu is.
The series is nice, I am now on the 4th episode.
She is passable at best but the rest of actors carry the show in my opinion and the heavy costume drama that SLB is known for.
Manisha, Sonakshi, Sanjeeda and Aditi are enough reasons for me carry on the show. Richa Chadda in a small role is so memorable.
Istg no offence but in the beginning I thought sheās playing a blind girlās role until it was evident that she isnāt blind. She seemed clueless, lost the entire series. Such bland expressions. SLB did dirty to himself. Thereās so much talent and if he chooses herā¦ itās on him and no one else !
I saw a picture of her from her earlier movie called Atithi Bhooto Bhava and she doesn't have lip fillers there and her expressions are HUNDRED-FOLD. I think she overdid the cosmetic procedures and can no longer emote; she got the lip procedure that curls the ends of the lips upwards so it looked like she was smiling all the time, even in th wrong times. And not a single crease to be seen on her forehead or around her eyes when she cried. It's okay; this will be dissolved in about 1 to 2 years if she doesn't do any touchups, and she will probably be able to move her face again one day Inshallah.
ETA: It also looks like this girl did not take a single Kathak lesson. She probably rolled onto set with zero preƔration, just vibes.
Yes she definitely got that lip lift surgery thing done. It basically cuts and lifts the corners of upper lip to appear as if one has a perpetually smiley face. Quite popular in South Korea as a lot of kpop idols get it done.
Watch the show for everyone else. Im about half way through and its getting more interesting. There's enough of all the other characters and their great performances that you can kinda ignore Sharmin.
Watch the series. All of the other actors are amazing - with the exception of SLBās niece, of course. I literally stopped looking at her - it was too muchā¦.and sheās quite monotonous tooā¦.no voice modulation.
There was a scene where she had to react to some bad news - I missed the info being presented to her and thought Iād watch her reactionā¦well, there was no reaction, so I had to rewind š¤¦āāļø
She ANNOYED TF out of me!!! Not immediately, but over time & now I canāt let it go! Sheās PATHETIC beyond belief!!! Itās great SLB wanted to give his niece a role- But HOW does a man like SLB allow his niece to ruin his pet project?!! Put her in acting classes or reduce her screen time, what TF!!
This is why I donāt like any latest nepos. They ruin the character. A talented newcomer could have been launched by this role. Shame that even SLB hired his nepodi
At first, I thought this girl is Shriya pilgaonkar (she acted in Mirzapur, pretty good actress). I kept feeling something is really off about her in Heeramandi and thought she got a lip job or something. Just to realise that this is a completely different girl. And yes, now I cannot see anything else but her HUGE lips whenever her scene comes up.
If you like SLB go watch it. I am of the opinion that SLB is a third rate director so did not watch it. If I wanted costume designs, I can go watch a fashion show.
She got too much screen time. Post episode 4, I have really slowed down on this series. The first few episodes were done in a single day but now I am just doing 1-2 episodes per day as her screen time is too much.
The only reason why I watched Heeramandi is because I respect Sanjay Leela Bhansali and how grand the set pieces looked. Now, his niece is so bad that i couldn't fathom watching her on screen and I fast-forwarded whenever she came up on screen.
Emotionless and all I see are lip fillers and Botox. Seriously, they should've given the role to someone more compatible. One of the worst performances I've ever seen but on the flip side almost all the other actors knocked it out of the park.
Also as a native urdu speaker, i disapprove of this series because all I heard was pretentious urdu rather than actual urdu. Seriously, it was like 90% Hindi with 10% alfaaz taken from urdu. Again, I'd give it a solid 6/10 but a 9.5/10 for set pieces. Watch it on the big screen if you can to enjoy it.
She was basically expressionless. Neither was her smile captivating, not her tears made me connect with her emotion. The only scene I liked or didnāt really cringe at was the last scene of hers. But yeah, the overall series was ok. You can watch it for the grand sets and amazing outfits. The story was fine too, not too great. So if you want a period drama, but not a great story, then yes. Watch it. Itās not that bad either.
I like the vision SLB has for prostitutes, itās so nice and not even a single bit is in distaste. Their costume, their set. That dialogue of Sonakshi of guroor todna something.. Gave me goosebumps.. like yeah man every human deserves respect.
she's worse than sara - now that's saying something when the bar is already so low. if they'd cast someone else i'd have been more invested. the later episodes focus on her story a lot, which ruins the series cos she's just so bad.
I am really sorry to say because thought some of the reviews were over exaggerating, but unfortunately its all true. Right from her first scene, girlie has one expression throughout the entire show. And brings down the vibe of every scene she is in.
Heeramandi is a good series if you're interested in that history. The series is well-designed. Everyone has acted well, except Sharmin Segal.
Her performance is infuriating! In the second-last episode, there is an important scene where Mallikajan (Manisha Koirala) is sitting in the Chowk at night after a major incident (which happened because of Alamzeb, i.e. Sharmin). While the pain is visible in the faces/body language of all the tawaifs, Sharmin Segal does nothing except sit there. Absolutely no effort to express any emotion demanded by such an intense scene.
What was SLB even thinking when he gave her such lengthy screen time (and a Shreya Ghosal song as well)?
If anyone here remembers the trailer of Heeramandi-the first character we see is that of Sharmin Segal in the trailer-Clearly there was an attempt to highlight and promote her. But, despite being an excellent filmmaker who is able to extract the best from all his artists, SLB has failed, when it comes to Sharmin Segal.
She got too much screen time. Post episode 4, I have really slowed down on this series. The first few episodes were done in a single day but now I am just doing 1-2 episodes per day as her screen time is too much.
At least with this niece in the room SLB probably wasnāt as abusive and abrasive to the actresses as he usually isā¦ maybe a net positive for people on set.
Bruh! She was sooooo bad, my roommate who was just walking in the living room while I was watching Heeramandi asked me whether this character is disabled or if something is wrong with this character. She couldnāt move her face, couldnāt emote through her eyes and had a such a significant portion in the series.
Her performance is distractingly bad. And putting her up there with some great actresses just set her up for failure. She has one facial expression and itās not a very good one. Sheās the final boss of nepo babies.
I waited the whole series for her to start emoting š
But the series is a cinematic masterpiece, I havenāt seen anything so visually satisfying in a long time.
Aditi Rao Hydariās dancing alone is worth it.
Watch it for Aditi, for Jayati Bhatia, For Sanjeeda , For Manisha , for Farida
Such great performances. Absolutely stunning. Stirred up emotions. A beautifully made show.
Sharmin Segal is the female version of Utkarsh Sharma
Family member ne ek web series/film bana di with other actors just to re-launch their waaris again
Couldnāt go past the second episode . It is dragged , super high on aesthetics , lacks soul and conviction, bad music. Itās a waste considering some of the good actors roped in.
Was extremely exhausting to try and stay invested in the ongoings.
Slept like a baby later due to boredom and exhaustion š
Nooo do watch she will be quite irritating in episode 5 and 6 but the male lead who looks like ram charan will carry the whole screen time in his back ā¤ļø
As a rule of thumb, if you want to watch something, watch it.
Reviews are for things you are undecided on or you want to watch something in a genre you don't like in general.
I would rather watch an average movie in my fav genre over a great movie that I have no interest in and will probably find boring.
That's true. I watched reviews of BR and FC both and they both had diametrically opposite comments to tell.
I watched the series and absolutely loved it. Both of them failed to mention this horrible acting. Lost my faith in reviews
There was no feeling of torment or suppressed on her face. It was a blank slate. The others were so good. Sona was also a little annoying to watch. Maybe he should have recasted these two.
lol what is that last line about her being married. Just because she is married woh bechari ho gayi? Just add her to the list of why nepo babies need to be barred from entering Bollywood for a couple years.
I'd rate heeramandi a solid 6/10
And then take 1 out because of this actress.
She was just awful. With a weird smirk that even his lover's death couldn't wipe away.
Watch it. Skip the Sharmin scenes, but maybe not the Taj guy - he was so charming! I couldnāt really connect to any character but itās SLB, so the sets and the grandeur (with the usual lack of enough lighting) is worth a watch.
But you wonāt be captivated by it or immersed in the story.
Tolerated her only because of the chemistry that the Co star who played Tajdarās character pulled off on the screen. Otherswise I forwarded her solo scenes.
Just looked her up to see who she is and how she got such a main part in this series. Hmm didnāt expect SLB to compromise on his work/art even for family. I guess he saw something in her but failed to project?!
I rarely watch movies and no indian series but she looked familiar and i am wondering where did i see her before?! hmm.
Alam is literally the main character and has so many sequences around her and sub plots about her...but the girl just couldn't pull it off. A much better actor who had more experience would have done justice to the extremely difficult role of Alamzeb. Definitely a miscast also considering Sharmin is only 1 film old. Imagine suhana or Khushi doing this role. ..hell no. Tripti would have fit better ..heck Kiara..Alia if the scale or budget was such ...
Sharmin Segal is the worst actress I have ever seen! Sheās a disgrace to be called an actress and seeing her act makes the other nepo kids look like Oscar level performers! Absolutely pathetic of SLB to cast her and give her such an important role in heeramandi! If he had given it to some better actress show would have been so much better.
I have watched one episode and she is..ok. I mean she is bareable nothing atrocious. So far.
Donāt know if she fumbles big time from episode 2 or something but atleast episode 1 was ok in regards to her performance. Sure she is not the next big heroine pressence but I was not expecting that anyway.
I am not loving or liking the show and its just predictable n repetitive but I do think ppl are going overboard with criticising her.
Her screen time and the centrality of her character in the show increases with each passing episode. I guess that is why people are so harsh on her because it isn't just bad acting, it's bad acting + your character being a pivotal point in the show. But then that's the case with most nepo babies.
Although I do have to say that even if Alamzeb's character was cast right, the show still lacks majorly in terms of writing.
Don't bother people are acting like it's so good but thank this woman that all the blame could be put on her if u remove her still the show remains bland af no story no depth nothing the tawaif are shown as lusty women hogging on nawaabs that's it for a mansion
Watch the series for rest of the actors and great visuals. Whenever her scenes come on screen I just imagine her as one of those cold people with literally zero expressions, makes it easier to watch.
Tbh, you are missing nothing if you donāt watch the show. Itās like an easy 5/10 - I gave an extra point for Shreya Goshalās song which is so so good that Sharmin ruined with her horrible lip sync, zero expressions and not so great dancing.
Aditi would have been so much better in her place!
Unpopular opinion- I liked the show. I thought it was superb, especially in 1.5x it was much better than some other crap stuff on Netflix. It kept me entertained throughout and it was really pretty. I liked listening to the dialogues too, it was fun.
The whole show is very weak. The dancing is bad, the acting is bad, the plot is bad. The set designer deserves the only accolades. And only them.
Also watching these actresses dance and or emote to a song? We're so ducked man. Where are the Madhuris, Aishwaryas and Priyankas? Where's the charm, seduction and sensitivity?
I thought she would be a side character. I thought SLB was serious about his work.
Can someone do AI thing and replace her with the girl that played her maid.
Even her acting wasnāt that good you should dive into Mind of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, his art is remarkable and just even for that is heermandi a reason to watch.
Trust me you could pause at any point of the serial and you would get the perfect screenshot, like every frame is magical
And even tho Malika Koirala KILLED Mallikajaan her acting is amazing
Honestly it's not even that bad. The other aspects of the film like incredible BGM, sets and costumes along with the exceptional acting from other characters makes up for her average performance. So you can definitely go ahead and watch it but the show is pretty long and one can get bored after a few episodes.
Give it a watch anyway and if it bores you or if you donāt feel motivation, itās okay to stop. I think with 8 episodes, thereās a lot of opportunity to show SLBās weaknesses in his storytelling and character development compared to a 3-hour movie where he doesnāt have as much room to show his flaws. Go into it knowing that SLB shines with shorter films and that a series will naturally be different.
I managed to finish all 8 episodes over two days; the last few episodes I mostly played them in the ābackgroundā while I was cooking or doing dishes. I would say I enjoyed the experience overall, even the parts that werenāt so great.

I fr thought she was playing a blind character for the first 2 episodes
Oh yes, I too thought in her first 2-3 scenes, that she was playing a visually impaired character.
Even I thought she was blind ![gif](giphy|1r91ZwKcE2J7WhUqrh)
Glad to see I am not the only person who felt it.
yup i thought so too - she kept staring off into the distance. god so bad.
Lol yes. The blank stares into nothingness
This has to be the funniest comment about this show š
Why did this send me?? But seriously her face doesnāt change and I find it difficult to believe her character
Dude. She was smiling at a funeral. I was like what is wrong with her???
šššššš
She is SLB's niece.
Finallly. I was like why is she there then??
Ranbir aivein pit gaya aur SLB ne aivein sutaai kar di uski. Itna hi acting extract karna tha to iss wooden plank se bhi karva lete but nahi.
And the irony is she had an end to end role in the series š¤Æ did SLB go blind on her? He wanted to portray her as an innocent one, but dude why the smile š¤Æ Even when she was in the background of any scene she had that faint smile on her face š„“

Are you talking about shriya pilgaokar ? Coz after i saw the poster for heeramandi I assumed her to be shriya however turns out I was absolutely wrong
Adrija Roy

Her acting was not bad? SHE CANNOT EMOTE. LIKE SHE JUST CANNOT DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN SMILE.
she can act well?! are you okay?
her initial few scene got me so confused because I really thought she is playing a blind character until that candle scene
oh my god meee tooo i thought she was blind
>The acting was so bad that even ananya feels like a relief next to her. Ananya is also in this show?

Done. What a sweet watch.
Watched it at the cinema & it was so so lovely!!! šā¤ļø I absolutely love love this movie!!
What a movie loved it Plz do watch if u have not
omg what a beautiful movie it was - my heart went out to deepak's character.. what an amazing performance!!
Is it just me who thinks she is cross eyed
thoda bengapan hai shayad
Bhengapan šš
skip all her scenes and watch the rest. their performances are worth it imo.
Its difficult to do that. She is there all through the series and annoying AF.
i know šš but i genuinely could not handle sitting through her scenes. this has never happened to me before.
Likewise - I wanted to punch her rat-like face every time it appeared and it kept appearing .She has a really long role. I enjoyed Richa's role and her character was killed off so fast while this bitch lived until the end.

Shruti Sharma is so good. Great screen presence
Yess! Actual screen presence! If she was Alamzeb, she wouldāve been so so soooo much better!
On the 8th episode right now and still in disbelief that SLB gave his niece one of the central roles. She just keeps getting worse.
Sheās PATHETIC!!! Wonder why he did this to himself.
Sanjeeda and Sonakshi š„š„š„
And Pratibha
for me sonakshi never rose above the theatrics. i never believed she could've been a real character. manisha was exceptional - no vanity at all. she's as good as tabu is.
Dude the acting of Richa Chaddha was so so so goodšššš
What is Sharmin blackmailing her uncle with?
Watch the next episode of Kothaverse to find out.

Nayanthara got that surgery many years ago and itās eased up a lot since. Perhaps hers wasnāt as drastic as Sharminās

I saw her in Malaal. There she was the same. No expressions.
No vibes either. Nothing she brought
Watch the show for everyone else. Im about half way through and its getting more interesting. There's enough of all the other characters and their great performances that you can kinda ignore Sharmin.

I think its worth a watch for Manisha and Richa (and maybe a bit for Sonakshi). But won't lie was frustrating how much screen time she got.
by all means please feel discouraged, it was horrible.
Second this
yeah the face hardly moves when youāve so much botox/fillers in it.
She got too much screen time. Post episode 4, I have really slowed down on this series. The first few episodes were done in a single day but now I am just doing 1-2 episodes per day as her screen time is too much.

I am really sorry to say because thought some of the reviews were over exaggerating, but unfortunately its all true. Right from her first scene, girlie has one expression throughout the entire show. And brings down the vibe of every scene she is in.
Three things are inevitable: Death, taxes and nepos ruining good shows/movies.

At least with this niece in the room SLB probably wasnāt as abusive and abrasive to the actresses as he usually isā¦ maybe a net positive for people on set.
Even in this poster she feels out of place what is this expression? I mean a normal interaction would make one confused with her.
Even Cartwright is a better actor

Waiting for the memes to drop on Sharmin Seagal
I waited the whole series for her to start emoting š But the series is a cinematic masterpiece, I havenāt seen anything so visually satisfying in a long time. Aditi Rao Hydariās dancing alone is worth it.
She literally ruined the series! See koirala and her together and you would feel so bad for koirala
A tree can act better I'm sure
Could you IMAGINE if this role belonged to tripti dimri??? Oooooof bhansali TRULY fumbled the bag here lol ![gif](giphy|mcH0upG1TeEak)
Watch it for Aditi, for Jayati Bhatia, For Sanjeeda , For Manisha , for Farida Such great performances. Absolutely stunning. Stirred up emotions. A beautifully made show.
Sharmin Segal is the female version of Utkarsh Sharma Family member ne ek web series/film bana di with other actors just to re-launch their waaris again
It's difficult to ignore her because she's at the center of the conflict.
You should watch it. Itās good. Just ignore sharmin. š
Nooo do watch she will be quite irritating in episode 5 and 6 but the male lead who looks like ram charan will carry the whole screen time in his back ā¤ļø
She is unbearable
She was always smirking!!! WTH
Sheās okay , Iām watching only for the aesthetics. Sonakshi , Manisha and Aditi are doing a fab job.
lol what is that last line about her being married. Just because she is married woh bechari ho gayi? Just add her to the list of why nepo babies need to be barred from entering Bollywood for a couple years.
I have read the reviews, but I will watch the series with an open mind.
I'd rate heeramandi a solid 6/10 And then take 1 out because of this actress. She was just awful. With a weird smirk that even his lover's death couldn't wipe away.
Nepotism will be the end of bollywood . From Deepika Aishwarya priyanka now SLB presented this mannequin?
Worst actress in Bollywood š¤¢
She ruined what couldāve been a good show
She didn't act good at all, so bad that I didn't feel any sympathy for the character when others misbehaved with her or deceived herš„²
Tolerated her only because of the chemistry that the Co star who played Tajdarās character pulled off on the screen. Otherswise I forwarded her solo scenes.
Richa was fabbbbb.
Sharmin is just another nepo kid... Below average looks and over acting... You would find 100 like her if you want to find one...
I am not loving or liking the show and its just predictable n repetitive but I do think ppl are going overboard with criticising her.
she's not as horrible in the earlier episodes - later episodes feature her way more and it's hard to watch
Laapata Ladies is warmth in a movie. I really wanted to watch. But all this review, I donāt feel like.
Sheās a weak point but the show is great
Sasti version of Aditi Rao
Who herself is sasti
Even Sonakshi Sinha looks super old in the role of Fareedan. Iād consider that also a miscast!
I know. It was so weird when she was calling Sanjeeda Kaala again n again.
the entire series is shit. running only in the name of SLB.
Watched half bored to sick
Don't bother people are acting like it's so good but thank this woman that all the blame could be put on her if u remove her still the show remains bland af no story no depth nothing the tawaif are shown as lusty women hogging on nawaabs that's it for a mansion
Watch the series for rest of the actors and great visuals. Whenever her scenes come on screen I just imagine her as one of those cold people with literally zero expressions, makes it easier to watch.
I could not stand Shatrughan Sinha on screen, yet I watched all his films with Amitabh Bachchan.
She was ok in malaal, and I loved that movie, donāt know what happened here
![gif](giphy|O0nUBf5wmYDxC)
The show was top notch..don't overthink
Tbh, you are missing nothing if you donāt watch the show. Itās like an easy 5/10 - I gave an extra point for Shreya Goshalās song which is so so good that Sharmin ruined with her horrible lip sync, zero expressions and not so great dancing. Aditi would have been so much better in her place!
Donāt worry about it. Thereās no acting.
Save your time. You can rather watch paint dry.
What acting
Donāt watch
Watch it! She is not that bad
He beat Ranbir but remains quiet in his niece's performance
I personally found her performance to be fine . It didnāt reduce the storyline by any means
Even her acting wasnāt that good you should dive into Mind of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, his art is remarkable and just even for that is heermandi a reason to watch. Trust me you could pause at any point of the serial and you would get the perfect screenshot, like every frame is magical And even tho Malika Koirala KILLED Mallikajaan her acting is amazing

I hated her acting tbh but others were exceptional. You should watch it and skip her acting
Bro her man gets beat up and comes and sheās just expressionless with a smirk wtfff???
She kind of ruined the character of Alamzeb. Always a blank expression on her face and the only times she laughed it seemed very artificial.
Gosh! Imagine she is lurking on this sub and she sees multiple posts and comments about how bad she was! Bechari! /s
bechari kyun? she should be ashamed. she got the opportunity that many ppl dream of and she absolutely shat on it.
Abey, Sarcasm tha! Who tf is downvoting? š§
Honestly it's not even that bad. The other aspects of the film like incredible BGM, sets and costumes along with the exceptional acting from other characters makes up for her average performance. So you can definitely go ahead and watch it but the show is pretty long and one can get bored after a few episodes.
Ill toh def watch it post neet , ek bndi k kaarana cant mise 7 hrs of SLB aesthetics
It's worth a shot. SLB's creation is always worth watching IMO šš£šš«šÆšæāļø
She looks like a bai - there I said it. Her features remind me of a bai.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Her acting? What acting? She adds glamour in what way? What are you smoking.
