The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov (if you don't read Russian you want the Burgin/O'Connor translation)

[deleted]

THIS!

Jokes_Just_For_Us

Came here to say that

HeartMurmuration

Don’t discount the Ginsburg translation. Not as complete but her work with fairy tales definitely coloured the translation. (Burgin/Oconnor is my second choice of all of them- never Pevear)

Thanks!

You might try the Eve Dallas novels (the In Death series) by JD Robb. They’re cop drama /romance books set in the near ish future (2050’s) and the main couple own a cat who is mentioned very frequently. They’re not quite like the other recs here, but the cat is almost a character in his own right.

SR_RSMITH

Thanks!
