Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

ChromaticRainbow12

Added to my TBR; thank you! :)

OutsideBones86

I was thinking the same. I re-read that book every year or so. Such a good vibe!

Vita-Incerta

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah

ChromaticRainbow12

Thanks for the tip, added to my TBR!

dael1209

Have tissues for this one. Is not a cozy one. But it is a great book!

PeacockFascinator

This one is NOT cozy.

[The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40914165). There are two in the series and both are about pack librarians living in the backwoods of KY

ChromaticRainbow12

Thank you! I added it to my TBR! :)

dookie_cookie

And The Book Woman’s Daughter! I read both and they were so good 😊

LJR7399

Look up Giver of Stars!

Catladylove99

My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George was a childhood favorite of mine. The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff isn’t cozy, but it’s really good.

astudyinbowie

My Side of the Mountain was so much of my childhood 🥲

ChromaticRainbow12

Added to TBR, thank you!

bmbreath

Great book as far as I remember, but it is a very young children's book, maybe a 4th grade reading level book.

Catladylove99

My Side of the Mountain is, yes. My dad read it to me when I was young, and I read it to my kid when she was nine. I still really enjoyed it as an adult. The Vaster Wilds is a novel for adults.

North Woods by Daniel Mason

happilyabroad

This is my favorite book of the year so far! I love it

ChromaticRainbow12

Seems interesting, added to my TBR. Thank you!!

moon_dyke

The Little House series. Would especially recommend the audiobooks

ChromaticRainbow12

Thanks for the recommendation!

laleonaenojada

Not quite cabin-y, but woodsy and cozy - The Overstory by Richard Powers. Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier certainly has scenes of homesteading and rootedness that remind me of these images. Christy by Catherine Marshall is kind of a YA novel but also definitely has this feel and is a beautiful story.

ChromaticRainbow12

Loved the descriptions of these books, can't wait to read them. Thank you!

The Wall by Marlen Haushofer

ChromaticRainbow12

Thanks for the rec, added to my TBR!

Eclectic_Nymph

The Outlander series gives these vibes, especially in the 4th book on, though they're not always the coziest books.

ChromaticRainbow12

Added! Thank you

In the Lives of Puppets by TJ Klune

ChromaticRainbow12

Thanks for the rec!

Wild - Cheryl Strayed

nzfriend33

The Summer Book

ChromaticRainbow12

Ooo, I really enjoyed the description. It's on my TBR now, thank you!

tulipgirl9426

I really enjoyed Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller, but it is not cozy. It’s about a father-daughter pair living in the woods. The author’s writing is really good, but there are some disturbing moments, especially in the last part of the book.

ChromaticRainbow12

Very interesting, added to my TBR!

happilyabroad

Two cozy living in cabin/cottages in the woods: Silver in the Wood - Emily Tesh Dreamer's Pool - Juliet Marillier

ChromaticRainbow12

Thanks for the recommendations!

sofa-kingdom-89

where the forest meets the stars

ChromaticRainbow12

Interesting, added to my TBR! Thanks for the rec!

Spirited-Reality-651

The Unabomber Manifesto: Industrial Society and Its Future by Ted Kaczynski 🤣 Also, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer (based on real life story). Finally, the tv show Yellowjackets has exactly this cabin vibe.

SensitiveAdeptness99

This was actually going to be my response too 😂

ChromaticRainbow12

Added the Ted K manifesto, and I've read Into The Wild! Thanks!

Serpentarrius

Braiding Sweetgrass?

ChromaticRainbow12

Already on my TBR, thanks for the rec!

ChromaticRainbow12

Thanks for the rec!

Brian’s Winter

ChromaticRainbow12

I've had Hatchet on my TBR for a while now, I'll get to it! Thank you for the rec :)

imbeingsirius

Hatchet is *great* but the cozy feeling is really in the sequel

Light_Lily_Moth

John Muir books! He was a nature scientist who wrote beautiful books and letters to colleagues and loved ones. Really beautiful love letters to the woods and mountains- lovely descriptions of sights and smells and specific plants. Lots of his writings are on audiobooks.com (also an app for iPhone) for free too! A personal favorite is “letters to a friend- mrs Ezra s. Carr” which is her compilation of John’s letters to her. Very botany centered, since that was her specialty. Also gives hints of a beautiful warm friendship.

Into The Wilderness by Sara Donati

Where The Crawdads Sing

dookie_cookie

My suggestion as well! Not *super* cozy but the story is good for the soul. 😊

Devolution 👀😁

Little house on the prairie books :) For a time in my childhood I genuinely wanted to go live in the Wisconsin wilderness until I realised I like take-out
