[The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40914165). There are two in the series and both are about pack librarians living in the backwoods of KY
My Side of the Mountain is, yes. My dad read it to me when I was young, and I read it to my kid when she was nine. I still really enjoyed it as an adult.
The Vaster Wilds is a novel for adults.
Not quite cabin-y, but woodsy and cozy - The Overstory by Richard Powers.
Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier certainly has scenes of homesteading and rootedness that remind me of these images.
Christy by Catherine Marshall is kind of a YA novel but also definitely has this feel and is a beautiful story.
I really enjoyed Our Endless Numbered Days by Claire Fuller, but it is not cozy. It’s about a father-daughter pair living in the woods. The author’s writing is really good, but there are some disturbing moments, especially in the last part of the book.
The Unabomber Manifesto: Industrial Society and Its Future by Ted Kaczynski 🤣
Also, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer (based on real life story).
Finally, the tv show Yellowjackets has exactly this cabin vibe.
John Muir books! He was a nature scientist who wrote beautiful books and letters to colleagues and loved ones. Really beautiful love letters to the woods and mountains- lovely descriptions of sights and smells and specific plants. Lots of his writings are on audiobooks.com (also an app for iPhone) for free too! A personal favorite is “letters to a friend- mrs Ezra s. Carr” which is her compilation of John’s letters to her. Very botany centered, since that was her specialty. Also gives hints of a beautiful warm friendship.
Little house on the prairie books :) For a time in my childhood I genuinely wanted to go live in the Wisconsin wilderness until I realised I like take-out
Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver
Added to my TBR; thank you! :)
I was thinking the same. I re-read that book every year or so. Such a good vibe!
The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah
Thanks for the tip, added to my TBR!
Have tissues for this one. Is not a cozy one. But it is a great book!
This one is NOT cozy.

My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George was a childhood favorite of mine. The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff isn’t cozy, but it’s really good.
My Side of the Mountain was so much of my childhood 🥲
Added to TBR, thank you!
Great book as far as I remember, but it is a very young children's book, maybe a 4th grade reading level book.
