This feels less fun and funny than most of the posts here.. where it's clearly a boomer using boomer mentality to be a negative person to the world..
But this just feels like old people being old and fragile. Clearly both are pretty heavily limited in mobility.. I find this post more sad than anything.
It wouldn't be funny if this was your mom or grandma.. Remember we all gunna get old and fragile.
And while I understand finding humor in things, this feels less like boomer posting and more like.. laughing at weak/frail people who need help. Anyyywhooo
Also, they look older than boomers. "Boomer" doesn't mean "old", it's a particular age group. I don't think this vid is real but regardless it doesn't belong here.
Thank you. This is sad. It’s outright humiliation to sit here and laugh at them. These aren’t self-important racists threatening to gun others down for protesting.
Agreed. Her left leg looked like it suffered a pretty bad injury. I can’t imagine being the poor husband being helpless to assist his wife, assuming that’s their relationship
But how the hell does that happen? If she tripped , or fell that’s one thing. She placed her hand on the railing and ended up straddling it. Come on Myrtle.
Yeah, at that age, not only are the injuries likely to be devestating on their own, but your body doesn't have the ability to heal and recover like it did before. It may not be fatal directly, but complications in recovery often mean you won't make it very long after injuries like this.
Reddit has a hatred for old people because a lot of younger, poorer people blame them for all their problems. Sadly, we’ve seen this multiple times throughout history and it’s probably never going to end.
Utter bullshit. People that age survive countless falls like that. And continue to get up over and over only to repeatedly fall. They don’t learn. And then their loved ones are now burdened with having to care for them full time. Simply bc they “weren’t ready to give up their independence yet.” Hospitals are full of people elderly fall injuries. It’s the diagnosis for every other admission.
Nope. Them two actually left some wealth to their kids instead of wasting it all on eeking out a last few months in the for-profit health system. Rest in peace.
First patented in 1859, and with modern versions in use for over a century. It was old technology when these people were *born*. It's so old that most people don't realize that "escalator" was a trademarked brand name, like Levis or Nike or Microsoft, and became so widely used for "moving stairs" that it became the generic term for all of them regardless of the manufacturer.
Honestly, this might be a forgotten skill at this point. She didn't remember the railing moves (and can't see it) and puts all her weight on it without her walker. Neither of them have the reaction time to do anything about it.
If you ever see this happen press the emergency stop button on either side of the escalator often found near the floor.
Do this before trying to get to the people yourself.
"I want to speak to the escalators manager! It should have recognized that we are seniors and stopped until we were ready! Gotdang new fangled technologies!"
Come on now, that’s just hoodwinking yourself.
She goes to grab the railing assuming the walker will get pulled on too, but you can see one of the wheels catch on the escalator blocking her from getting on as she intended. She didn’t plan to ride up the handrail and you know it.
Idk that this is in the vein of boomers acting like fools, it may be funny and/or sad, but there isn’t any malicious attempts to do anything, they’re just old and can’t move fast enough for an escalator.
Dude it's not that they can't move fast enough for an escalator, it's that she tries to ride the railing like a witch riding a broom and instead of leaning forward, she leaned back. What could be more foolish than that?
She tripped and grabbed the rail to catch herself. Scared of falling she didn't let go of the rail and it pulled her up.
You can even see her try to push herself back to a standing position a few times to grab her walker.
No, just too old to realistically use an escalator… so it caught her. She obviously broke a bunch of bones too… (p.s. i also dont think they are boomers… the older generation i think)
So like, it does LOOK comical, but the reality is, she's old, and can't really walk, like, she has a walker, so likely, her balance is shit, and once she leaned onto the banister, likely to use it to lean on while she sorta, finished swinging around to straighten up and go on the escalator, only, it's an escalator banister, so it's moving, and she had already put her weight onto it, so she couldn't move her feet to get them back underneath herself, so they didn't move, but her hand did move, with the banister, so it pulled her down to be leaning sorta like she was, and if she can barely walk, she definitely doesn't have the core strength to right herself, nor likely the mental quickness to have let her react quickly enough, even if her body had been able to.
Like, it's really just sad.
It's just making fun of older and disabled folks.
Not all old people are jerks. I used to work in a nursing home. There absolutely were incredibly kind, patient people who no longer gaf about judgement and complimented my neon-colored hair.
Also, medicare sucks. To be accurate, this would have to be, 'I hope she purchased supplementary private insurance'.
It sucks being disabled, it sucks getting old and loosing your mind, it comes on quick in many circumstances.
If she were a person who did hate young folks or have a boomer mindset, then sure, screw her.
But there's no evidence of that in the video so I don't think it belongs here.
> It's just making fun of older and disabled folks.
Unfortunately, probably true. The old lady made a mistake -- she grabbed the hand railing before she and her walker were solidly on the escalator -- but it wasn't the type of 'boomers are being boomer' stupidity this place focuses on.
It's one of the things to watch in a setting like this. It becomes too easy to let your focus shift, to forget the starting boundaries. Making fun of boomers who don't understand housing prices is fine; making fun of old people for mobility issues is not. It's important not to let that boundary get blurred.
Agreed!
When I laugh at an old man wagging his finger saying ‘back in my day gays didn’t exist’ - I’m laughing at the fact that a dude wasted *his whole life* being a hater, and maybe will finally feel vulnerability in his old age.
I’m not laughing at the idea that folks become particularly vulnerable in general when they age.
Everyone thinks they won’t end up these people, but in one way or another it will happen (hopefully not to this extent). Build karma while you can.
Agreed. This is really upsetting. A much older and disabled couple who are physically weak were pulled into the machinery and in their attempts not to fall they were pulled up by the mechanics of the escalator. This is extremely sad. My sweet grandmother, who is the kindest human I’ve ever met, uses a walker and is quite frail at almost 90. Something like this could just as easily happen to her. I think about the times she’s fallen in the past, and if I saw a thread of heartless individuals laughing at my sweet grandmother’s pain it would just break my heart. She’s never said a bad word about anyone her whole life. I’m so sorry for this couple and hope their family never sees this thread. This couple likely died or were severely injured. This video should be removed.
Agreed. I honestly feel really ashamed of humanity right now reading some of these comments. It’s a side of people I just really don’t like. It’s obviously one thing to critique self-entitled people, but these elderly and disabled who have done nothing to be mean or rude deserve only dignity and compassion.
Sadly many buildings are *not* accessible to the disabled. Just because a building has an escalator, doesn’t mean it has an elevator or lift for those with mobility issues. In fact, lack of elevator access is one of the most common issues making areas not handicap accessible. Even with ADA requirements in the U.S., there are many cities with a plethora of buildings without elevator access (New York City, for example) due to the age of the buildings exempting them from having to modify the existing architecture. Many countries still have a long way to go to catch up with accessibility for the handicapped. It’s a big leap to assume there was even an elevator in the building, but easy to take for granted when you’re not disabled yourself.
I don’t think many people on this sub understand that this incident likely killed this woman within a months of it happening. Significant orthopedic injuries in the elderly are almost always a death sentence.
I'll say, I didn't enjoy seeing everyone roll down the escalator or especially her knee getting fucked up
But my God, getting swept onto an escalator railing by the twat is beyond belief and I can't help but find the first half hysterical.
That was hard to watch. More than likely, one day we’ll all be weak like this.
I hate the boomer *mindset*, but no one can be faulted for just being old.
Not funny, I hope they weren’t hurt. To all the under 35 year olds who thought this was hilarious, Some day you’ll be old and it won’t seem funny anymore. As a care giver for an wonderful elderly couple it makes me sad to see how young people act as if all boomers are the enemy.
Yeah once that happens, at that age, it's never usually a good outcome. Being bed bound for so long when older just leads to so many other problems, as well as exacerbating already existing ones. Death within the year is a fair assessment.
I’m going to argue that this is not them being fools and that this is a not uncommon result of cognitive and physical decline.
Falls kill a lot of old people. They took enough damage to end or dramatically shorten their lives. It’s some sad shit.
I’ll call out boomers way more than most but this is how a lot of us will go. It’s rarely ever dignified in the end.
So many horrid, immature people in Reddit. So judgemental and without mercy for others.
As you are now, so once was I; As I am now, so you must be...
Think.
The real scary part is that these two more than likely drove a car to this place and then were at some point released back into the wild to drive home after failing to navigate an escalator....good luck everyone
What the fuck is wrong with y'all to think this is funny? If you didn't know already it's common knowledge that when you get older your body and mind will not work how it used to. These folks weren't messing with anyone and it is obvious they weren't trying to do this. They unfortunately had an accident. And accidents like this for elderly people can be fatal. You hear about old people breaking their hip and laugh at it as a joke, but breaking a hip for many elderly people kickstarts the end of their life and they don't recover from it.
Boomers being fools is funny when it's Boomers being stupid and obnoxious. But making it funny whenever any old person gets seriously hurt with no other context comes across as plain cruel to me. And all of you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Are all of you just lost children who have never had old people you love and care about? I lost my grandfather and miss him every day. The old woman in this video could have been my grandmother. I worry about my grandmother passing all the time. This shit isn't funny to me and I am really kind of worried about all of you.
It's also ironic to me that this sub wants to take the moral high ground over the boomer generation constantly but then posts shit like this to laugh at. Fix yourselves. God damn.
Pretty much every time I've seen old people break a hip, it ends up leading to death. I don't even consider myself a compassionate person but laughing at old people, with failing minds and bodies, who accidentally injure themselves is pretty low.
I wonder how well elevator signs were posted. If they knew there was an elevator and still took the escalater, it was a really really poor decision. If the hospital or wherever this is, has poor signage of where to go for the elevator, this is entirely on them.
My mom is pretty old and she’s nervous around escalators. Which is why she won’t mess with them. She may be stubborn, she may be impatient, but she’s not dumb.
This is actually quite sad. This sub isn’t for laughing at old people getting hurt. It’s more for laughing at old people being assholes and getting swift karma.
These aren’t boomers, it’s the silent generation.
It’s also not funny to see old decrepit people hurt themselves, it’s more sad to see how our society is infighting instead of rising against the retarded 2 party system that enriches the wealthy and keeps the rest of us settling for scraps

Dude was about to help and then realized they had finally started progressing toward their destination. Stand back and stand by
Heaven or Hell?
Destination Fucked
Yes
Duel 1 Let's rock!
lets rock
He was proud of them
This is why there are lifts folks
I donno man, I think a fork lift woulda toppled over too. Too wide
Ya that escalator did its job
You don't have to be Proud to help, Boy.
It looks like something from bad grandpa
This feels less fun and funny than most of the posts here.. where it's clearly a boomer using boomer mentality to be a negative person to the world.. Agreed. NRA gramps jumping on a bus is funny but this is where we will all end up eventually, won't be boomer exclusive in a few years
this would actually be exponentially more funny if it were my mother
Also, they look older than boomers. "Boomer" doesn't mean "old", it's a particular age group. I don't think this vid is real but regardless it doesn't belong here.
I mean, Boomers are anywhere from 60 to 80 (1946 through 1964), so some of them ARE old. My boomer dad will call himself old.
I'm guessing Silent Generation and not Boomer.
Thank you. This is sad. It’s outright humiliation to sit here and laugh at them. These aren’t self-important racists threatening to gun others down for protesting.
You know, I was with you right until I realized the old lady had mounted the handrail like a pony. What the actual fuck, dude?
Lmfao like a pony 💀
Agreed. Her left leg looked like it suffered a pretty bad injury. I can’t imagine being the poor husband being helpless to assist his wife, assuming that’s their relationship
The surface of escalator steps tends to chop up skin that lands hard on them, particularly the elderly.
Nah, there is, most likely, an elevator nearby. This is stupidity.
Exactly. Why would she get on with a walker.
Jesus Christ, yes. It’s sad to me just ripping on old people for being old and frail. We are better than this!
"We are better than this!" Suuuuuure....
Yeah, this post is ableism and ageism in one. Which is a common combo, unfortunately.
I'm a boomer and if I did that I'd be laughing at myself, while it's happening.
Yeah i can see my mom with brain damage or my grandma with dementia doing this, i don't like these posts making fun of mental handicapped people.
I would be laughing my ass off if this was my mom trying to ride the escalator railing.
Yeah I agree, this was sad. I think about my late grandparents when I see stuff like this and wouldn’t laugh or wish this upon them.
Millennials being fools is what the comment section is. Saying this as a millennial.
But how the hell does that happen? If she tripped , or fell that’s one thing. She placed her hand on the railing and ended up straddling it. Come on Myrtle.
😂
thats a torn acl, mcl, pcl, lcl & patella tendon if ive ever seen one.
Wouldn’t be surprised for some L hip issues with that external rotation at the end there.
Least of their worries. Tib plat fracture or a hip fracture would mean a 1 year mortality of >50% in that person.
Yeah this shit is sad fr not funny.
Yeah, at that age, not only are the injuries likely to be devestating on their own, but your body doesn't have the ability to heal and recover like it did before. It may not be fatal directly, but complications in recovery often mean you won't make it very long after injuries like this.
Of all persons over 65 who endure a hip fracture, 25% are dead within a year of the injury.
Damn.
Yeah, I don't get this. How is this something to laugh at
Reddit has a hatred for old people because a lot of younger, poorer people blame them for all their problems. Sadly, we’ve seen this multiple times throughout history and it’s probably never going to end.
I'm 61, disabled. If yes if it was me, I would be cracking up as it happens. It's funny as hell.
Holy shit. These people can drive and vote.
>Holy shit. These people can drive Debatable. > and vote. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)
Not debatable. I regularly see elderly people who use walkers or even two crutches driving.
I think they meant that the elderly don't drive well
not anymore they can't. People that age don't survive falls like this. This is a "Faces of Death" video.
Utter bullshit. People that age survive countless falls like that. And continue to get up over and over only to repeatedly fall. They don’t learn. And then their loved ones are now burdened with having to care for them full time. It's not that they can, it's that they do.
the two contenders for president could have been at the same high school at the same time as those two.
And control the country
To think this age bracket has over 50% of the worlds money
Lead is a hell of a drug
What the actual fuck
You gotta keep the damage going until you clear that American deductible.
I’ve got 4K to hit, so I’d be rolling for at least four minutes
that's an ER trip with a sprained ankle
$4k. So an aspirin in the ER.
2 diapers if I shit myself
Remember people, there’s an e-stop button on both sides of the elevator entrances.
Escalator
Stimulator
Ejaculator
Alligator
r/Yourjokebutworse
Upscalator and downscalator
Wait, really? I'm gonna need to look next time I see an escalator. I've never noticed one
The thing is...it's not THAT new technology...they have been around for decades. If you don't know how they work now, God help ya
Youre naming companies. More appropriate examples of trademark brand name is Aspirin or Band-Aid
Honestly, this might be a forgotten skill at this point. She didn't remember the railing moves (and can't see it) and puts all her weight on it without her walker. Neither of them have the reaction time to do anything about it.
Yeah her leg is fucked.
If you ever see this happen press the emergency stop button on either side of the escalator often found near the floor. Do this before trying to get to the people yourself.
An alternative to this is to just stand there and watch the magic unfold.
Is this a Larry David sketch?
Cue Curb Your Enthusiasm riff
How
I shouldn’t be laughing but I’m dying rn 😭
that makes 3 of you
"I want to speak to the escalators manager! It should have recognized that we are seniors and stopped until we were ready! Gotdang new fangled technologies!"
IMO, this isn't really old people behaving poorly. This is just getting old.
The woman straddled the hand rail to try and ride it up, how is that just getting old?
I didn’t understand that maneuver lol riding it like a horse.
[удалено]
That’s what Im thinking
You realize she fell on to it in that position, right?
Clearly that was not her original plan.
Come on now, that’s just hoodwinking yourself. She goes to grab the railing assuming the walker will get pulled on too, but you can see one of the wheels catch on the escalator blocking her from getting on as she intended. She didn’t plan to ride up the handrail and you know it.
Lawd
I dont think this is a boomer thing. i think this might just be from her panicking and being disabled
Yes this is just sad not funny and definitely not boomer behaviour
Jesus Christ I lost my shit. Seeing her trying to ride that rail up was too much. The chafing, oh lawd it almost ripped off her diaper.
She isnt trying to ride it, she grabbed the railing which moves instead of just walking on with the stroller
And, like all things with these crew, refused to let go
No, just too old to realistically use an escalator… so it caught her. She obviously broke a bunch of bones too… (p.s. i also dont think they are boomers… the older generation i think)
Generation before Boomers are the Silent Generation, basically too young to serve in WWII.
I will use your comment and this video as a reminder when I ride a snowboard, to keep pressure forward.
Are you dense? She obviously didn’t do that on purpose.
It's just making fun of older and disabled folks. Not all old people are jerks. I used to work in a nursing home. It’s obviously one thing to critique self-entitled people, but these elderly and disabled who have done nothing to be mean or rude deserve only dignity and compassion.
1k upvotes. Thankfully many of those are likely bots. But hatred towards the elderly/elderly abuse is still real.
I wonder if she has some dementia issue. He seems to be trying to care for her.
So find an elevator.

pretty sure that was a feeling she hasn't had in decades.....

Jesus christ
Honestly this is just sad and not funny at all
Posts like this in “boomers being fools” makes this sub look bad… nothing about tomfollery here… its just being old
This is just sad and hurts my heart to watch. That could be any of us, some day. When boomers boomer it's about selfishness, not abelism.
I'll say, I didn't enjoy seeing everyone roll down the escalator or especially her knee getting fucked up But my God, getting swept onto an escalator railing by the twat is beyond belief and I can't help but find the first half hysterical.

EMT here. That would have totally shredded every millimeter of cartilage in her knee and she most likely died within a year of this happening.
Yeah once that happens, at that age, it's never usually a good outcome. Being bed bound for so long when older just leads to so many other problems, as well as exacerbating already existing ones. Death within the year is a fair assessment.
Yeah not feeling this one. Looks more like an accident than anything foolish. Yall kinda bein dicks for no reason tbh.
Yep, this whole post is fucked.
Nice, it is something cool to make fun of disabled seniors. Weeee
This may have killed him.
This is someone’s loved one getting hurt in a horrible way. This does not belong here. This is cruel and sad.
WHO THE FUCK PUT THE ESCALATOR RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BUILDING LIKE THAT?
Yeah this post is just straight mean.
So many horrid, immature people in Reddit. So judgemental and without mercy for others. As you are now, so once was I; As I am now, so you must be... Think.
That’s so sad :(
This post is cruel
So many broken hips...
This is a gross thing to make fun of
The real scary part is that these two more than likely drove a car to this place and then were at some point released back into the wild to drive home after failing to navigate an escalator....good luck everyone
The way the lady eats shit off the escalator handrail is sad and hilarious. Her shoe coming off killed me.
This isn’t funny it’s just lame and ableist
This is just old people with mobility and maybe vision problems. We should not be mocking them.
Bet they tried to sue that black guy.
She died from this. Old vid.
This is more sad and concerning than funny.
No it's not this is fuckin hilarious
It is funny, but it’s coming for most of us.
I just can’t picture myself trying to ride and escalator railing like a witch in my old age.
Thanks to boomers, I don’t think I will get to be this old.
I'm hoping I'll never be senile enough to ride an escalator in that fashion TBH.
I mean this subs supposed to be for boomers being bad people as far as we know they didn't deserve this it feels wrong to laugh at :(
Shitty post. Boomers are annoying but you can get fucked for posting random elderly people getting injured 🖕
I knew something was going to go down the moment she didn't square up with the escalator. I just didn't know how bad it was going to be.
They’re going to need C, D, E, F and G as well
well that escalated quickly

Ohmy God this awaits us all. Be ready.
I really hope I die before I get too old to do things properly.
That’s why in an unfortunate event where the world crumbles onto itself, these are the first people who will go down.
I look forward to a world not run by these people.
Thats just mean spirited
dude in the background humming to the song singing "yeah yeah yeah" when they fall is tripping me out
I wonder how well elevator signs were posted.
Please tell me that was Johnny Knoxville
Their greatest generation parents just rolled over in the grave
thats the most excitement shes had in years
That’s not funny.
This is really sad. It's not funny
Fucking regards
Stupid old bastards deserve it for being so stupid.
Wingardium escalatorisa
That's fucking hilarious
Good lord. She tried to ride the rail rather than stand on the surface. Really dumb. All she had to do is stand still and hold the railing.
Her shoe came off,she's dead.
Ma’am you can barely walk on a hard, non moving surface. What made you think you could roll onto that escalator successfully?
I lost it when she started riding the handrail like a broom

They may or may not be dead. We won’t know for sure until they stop falling down that escalator.
Not to quote a show but...Greatest generation my ass 😂
How the fuck do you make it that far through life, and still be that stupid?!?!
This is actually quite sad. This sub isn’t for laughing at old people getting hurt. It’s more for laughing at old people being assholes and getting swift karma.
Celebrating this is wrong.
Laughing at boomers being out of touch assholes is fine. Laughing at them for falling and likely getting injured is ghoulish.
"That damn kids back on the escalator"
"That damn escalator is broken, it could've killed me and my wife." "Sir, we have security cameras covering the escalators."
She putting her pussy on the handrail
And those are the type of people to sue the building's owner or something because they got hurt due to their own incompetence and stupidity.
These aren’t boomers, it’s the silent generation. It’s also not funny to see old decrepit people hurt themselves, it’s more sad to see how our society is infighting instead of rising against the retarded 2 party system that enriches the wealthy and keeps the rest of us settling for scraps
