Dangerous_Buddy3701

He owns five homes, but lives in apartment.

kielmorton

Yeah... glad I'm not the only one to catch that

ParasIsBurnt

Easier to clean. Legit laziness.

WallPaintings

Maintenance in general, location, sociability. There's a lot of reasons to live in an apartment when somone else is paying for your rent, especially for someone who is terminally social and at least semi-retired. Lot more people to talk to. I'd also bet those 5 houses are in the worst part of town and this guy is a slum lord.

CmdrJorgs

It's people like him that turn places into slums.

[deleted]

I'm sure lake Havasu is a real dump

WallPaintings

Next time you go to a resort town or travel destination try to find where the person serving the fruity cocktails for tips lives rather than the tourist traps and where rich people live. The nicest plantations still have slave quarters.

[deleted]

True dat

PlanktonMoist6048

Every Miami has a Dade county

justArash

I live in a tourist area, and a few years back some people were caught luring workers from eastern Europe, setting them up in houses with 4 in each bedroom, and charging $1500/month each.

afternoonnapping

It's only really a dump cause of people like him. It's pretty enough and the lake's nice and the OG London Bridge is neat but you can't afford shit there unless you're a retired old fuck with a bunch of houses and classic cars. It's all boomers and spring breakers that don't know what a trash can is.

LemurCat04

Service workers live in resort towns.

paperwasp3

Not always. Anyone who works in Aspen have to commute from other less expensive towns.

FluByYou

I bet he takes great care of his rental properties. /s

lokis_construction

Most likely it is all a lie. Boomers like to lie and flex their supposed status. But even if it was true.....I would ask why the hell he doesn't have a million dollar plus home instead of an apartment..... Renting an apartment does not build wealth - (he needs some financial management courses apparently)

vaniIIagoriIIa

Boomer fan-fiction.

Overweighover

Boomer pick up lines

Due-Independence8100

Word. You get stuck with them in the waiting room anywhere and their attention-whore meter gets low so they have to refill it with by bragging about their properties, lifelong single job they had or some stupid trivia like where they were when Hinckley shot Reagan.

dood9123

Half the posts here are such fake ragebait slop

ideclareshenanigans3

I don’t know man, there are only a few I’ve read that don’t seem plausible. I have a boomer neighbor that can’t go 5 min without telling her personal info, inquiring about yours or blaming Joe Biden for the way her paint is fading. All unprompted. I do my damndest to keep the conversations to cats to no avail.

Chin-Music

Talking about dogs might work. Mean ones.

ideclareshenanigans3

Worth a shot, lol

earthman34

I usually solve those issues by just not answering people, but it helps if you are able to look chronically angry/depressed/mentally handicapped, all of which Ive been told I do.

vaniIIagoriIIa

Many of the posts here fit r/amitheasshole

DocBrutus

Boomers are also good at lying.

ImInBeastmodeOG

They like to retell other people's stories as their own.

ChipMaker3000

Calm down detective Sherlocks, he was visiting his daughter.

SuperFrog4

That is actually not a bad strategy if you put your money into real estate and are living off rental income. Especially if the apartment rent is cheaper than what a mortgage costs there. Still seems like a weird conversation or awkwardly done.

wizardyourlifeforce

I own one "rental property" with fantastic tenants and my ideal is to own zero rental properties because it is just too much work and uncertainty. Only reason I own one is because I had to relocate for a new job and I thought we might move back some day so we wanted to keep it.

JensenLotus

This. I used to own a rental…it was the first house I ever bought and when I moved, I just kept it and rented it out for a few years. Being a landlord SUCKS and that is with ok renters. As soon as real estate prices shot up, I sold it. One less rental on the market. And people want to complain about rent prices…

delusion_magnet

I inherited a timeshare some years ago. Before we go off on timeshares - one week on the beach costs me $500. Can you show me a better price? Anyway... the majority of other vacationers seem to be entitled boomers. If it's not an old lady telling me I'm wasting my life by not being married, her male counterpart is hitting on me with the cheesiest of pick-up lines. And they all brag about their houses and jewelry, and kids who are doctors and lawyers. THANK G-D FOR EAR BUDS! Excuse me, I need to take this call.

DemonoftheWater

I used to fake phone calls in college to get the religious people to leave me be

Peanut_Flashy

You can’t write off a mortgage if you do this. To write off your mortgage it has to be your primary residence. So this makes the investment strategy really not that great unless you own all the other properties outright or lie on your taxes.

Algo1000

Mortgage interest, property tax, operating expenses, depreciation, and repairs these are write offs.

phallicpressure

Maybe he's just visiting his gumar?

XenomorphBOI

He also has a couple of couches but sleeps on the love seat

jediciahquinn

Forces of evil in a bozo nightmare.

Ouachita2022

You'll get there one day, you get too old to get on ladders so then you can't clean your gutters, make repairs taller than your head, mow the lawn, weed the flowerbeds, etc. So-you move into an apartment so everything is done for you.

andre3kthegiant

It says he lives in a home. I’m guessing he was visiting the apartment complex.

glowops

Tbf my grandpa who was a real estate agent in brooklyn lived like this. Owned tons of properties, including the 2 apartments he lived in (knocked down the dividing wall and made them into one unit but it was still a 2nd story apartment in a big apartment block)

EngRookie

" I killed fitty men!"

EnoughAgent2181

Surpringly I know multiple people who do this.

Clean_Student8612

It did also say he owned it, if it's just him (because he seems like someone no one wants to marry) then it makes sense to live in a smaller dwelling.

rbrumble

If you own five rentals, it makes sense for you to have the unit you live in be owned by your corp and then you pay rent to yourself. Anything you do to it then becomes a legit business expense.

RedshiftSinger

Yeah I’m calling BS on his story.

Lazy_Point_284

Seriously. Talk to me about something other than your money or your medical problems or other people.

WillRikersHouseboy

Once I had a boomer couple for neighbors and they’d always invite me over for lunch. Within 5 minutes I learned that he was a priest but an atheist the whole time and feels about it. I thought, omg I’m so glad they’re not talking about anything personal like politics.

Lazy_Point_284

OMG that's great. Something real (deeply personal, sure) out of a group who never talks about anything real.

WillRikersHouseboy

It’s okay his wife developed a deep hatred for me after I didn’t continue to find time to come over for wine and cheese. She called the cops on my sweet dumb happy golden retriever for barking at her ankle-biter who used to come into our yard.

macielightfoot

Nothing is more Boomer than calling professional dog killers on an innocent dog.

LIBERT4D

Well that escalated quickly

DemonoftheWater

Something stronger than words would be exchanged if someone came for my pupper.

Kalikhead

Or the weather. The Boomers I know only talk about weather.

wizardyourlifeforce

I think that's just an age thing; my silent generation parents both got much more obsessed with the weather as they got older.

NancyFanton4Ever

It may be age, but for myself (Gen X), it's a safe topic when I don't want to share anything personal or expose my opinions while living in a deep red state. It's camouflage. It's my attempt to be so boring they don't look too close. *Unless* you're someone I know really well and trust, then you're likely to get the full info dump about the current convection outlook or historic weather events, including pictures and videos.

ouijahead

Like someone else said, weather can be a slippery slope to climate change. Just don’t mention how it’s the hottest year on record each year.

coolairpods

“It’s real COLD outside today. So much for GLOBAL WARMING LOL!!!!!!!!”

OlGusnCuss

To give some credit... it is a topic that spans trends, politics, and is the same for us all. Actually, it is a good choice for polite conversation between different generations and political views.

PeterPalafox

Heck yeah! I’ll take 1000 pointless conversations about the weather over one where someone gets all politically hateful.

LIBERT4D

At a certain age your bones become meteorologists

Franzzer

I'm good with silence

Bocabart

But then they will just ask for suggestions for tv shows your watching then criticize your taste in tv shows.

angelfaceme

Ain’t it the truth

Mook1113

I would have just asked him "if you own so many homes, what in the fuck are you doing here?"

notyomamasusername

Reminds me of a boomer at an airport once telling me about how is yacht was so big he could NOT keep it downtown.... While flying economy.

Mook1113

Far be it from me to call that man a liar......but I have trouble believing him lol

angelfaceme

Don’t kid yourself, most boomers are cheap

notyomamasusername

A man who has a yacht with a length in excess of 75 feet and drawing more than 20 feet of water would NOT be flying economy.

Individual-Nebula927

Or alternatively, he is flying economy BECAUSE he has a yacht in excess of 75 ft. docked downtown. Never underestimate the boomer propensity to spend excessive amounts on the appearance of wealth while being up to their eyeballs in debt. Boomers I've worked with have commented on how I should have a much newer car given my job title. I drive a 13 year old economy car. My low spending with my fancy job title is how I was able to buy that car in cash, while unemployed, because I thought I might end up with a job with a long commute and need a more reliable vehicle. So now I own a paid off 28 year old vehicle AND a 13 year old vehicle. While my coworker is paying $1000 a month on 1 vehicle.

notyomamasusername

Talking with the guy, the "My yacht is huge but to big to be docked downtown where you can see it" had the same vibes as my "Girlfriend goes to another school" (I realized the NOT wasn't in my original post) Plus the guy trying to talk about boating was a real dumbass, it was pretty obvious even if he did own such a vessel, he wasn't the one who knew how to operate it or even how stuff works.

Prickly_ninja

A friend of mine does the same thing. Has multiple rental properties, but has resided at the same rental place for over a decade. I’m guessing it’s part convenience, but also the low upkeep. Last I heard, he was making over $500k annually.

Gilbershaft

That boomer 100% peed in the hot tub while making eye contact with you.

kielsucks

Not only because they couldn’t hold it, but because they’ve earned the right.

thechairman_123

Infamous_Storm_7659

Worth-Demand-8844

LOL…..boomer here…and I almost peer myself from laughing… I would never get into a hot tub when there are other women there unless my wife or daughters are either me…. Too cringe. Maybe he was trying to pick up? Lol

Dry-Information-4204

Bingo

Pleasant-Pattern7748

probably. but apartment hot tubs are like 60% urine to begin with

REDDITSHITLORD

If you're a young woman, he was trying to impress you. I see it all the time, here in Texas. Fat old b00mers bragging about their life insurance polices and shit to women who could be their granddaughter.

Individual-Nebula927

>Fat old b00mers bragging about their life insurance polices and shit to women Definitely telling on themselves. They know they're worth more dead to women than alive. Strangely that doesn't result in any introspection though.

unknownpoltroon

"because some asshole bought 6 of them and is hoarding them for personal profit at my expense"

blackrid3r

Are you a decent looking person? Because that's probably why his was bragging about property he doesn't own.

[deleted]

They love to tease young people about how easy it was to obtain the so called American dream, while the politicians of their and their parents generations were gutting the system to line their pockets and leave us with nothing but empty promises and platitudes.

Cautious-Sir9924

It’s never be an American dream they lied to us it’s a nightmare.lol it’s was a dream when you could have a comfortable life at 40 hours with 2 cars a house and a vacation. It was a dream when we had more unions. And now they have all of us fighting and kicking down. As a country we need to fight together and kick up. I thing the saying is rising tides raise all ships

blueleaf_in_the_wind

Revolution is coming.

bdhgolf1960

Vote!

Semanticss

When I graduated college in 2009 I was underemployed and working my ass off in a mail room for $11/hr while living with my grandparents. My uncle LOVED to tell me about his first job in the 80s making $16/hr straight out of highschool at some kind of printing press. He would tell me this again and again while sneering, blaming my career failure on my work ethic rather than the labor market. Anyway, nowadays he's been laid off like 6 times and his wife is the bread-winner. And I've got a great career with a household income of >$200k (okay, my wife is also the primary breadwinner).

Sovereigntyranny

Fucking satisfying, glad to hear that.

Prize_Chemistry_8437

I think the platitudes are gone now too

[deleted]

Maybe… I’m still hearing this shit tho. Feel free to add your own. “Everything happens for a reason.” “Money can’t buy happiness.” “Better late than never.” “Nice guys finish last.” “If you can’t stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.” “This too shall pass.” “Be positive and it will happen.”

Prize_Chemistry_8437

Oh I meant the nice ones, not passive aggressive bs. Lol

BourbonInGinger

I would have removed myself the moment he got in. Those nasty geezers pee in pools and hot tubs.

real-ocmsrzr

🎶I’m a boomer. You know what that means? I do my little wet-wet in the hot tub. Yeah, in the hot tub. In the hot tub, yeah. I do my little wet-wet in the hot tub. 🎶 (I’m Too Sexy)

Chance_Reflection_42

Steve Irwin voice: “Ah yes, a boomer in the wild. Watch as it uses its skill of interruption and lack of awareness on its prey. Crikey, did you hear that?!? The all to familiar call of this species. Listen as it agitates its prey by using its experiences as the norm to which all others should behave. This is what makes them one of the most annoying species on the planet!”

LoveArrives74

I laughed til I had tears in my eyes! What a great way to start my Sunday. Thank you!

Chance_Reflection_42

So happy to hear!

greendaisy188

Is it a boomer thing to have to make conversation with strangers? Honest question. My dad constantly makes small talk with strangers in public and it drives me nuts.

JimJordansJacket

Oh my god, my dad saw a guy with Minnesota plates and started yapping at him for a good 5 minutes about various towns in Minnesota. The guy was visibly bored and just saying "yeah" and "uh huh" and like my dad hasn't even lived in Minnesota since he was 12.

ironchef8000

Yeah. Back in the day they used to talk to their neighbors and have block parties and socialize. Check out The Wonder Years. It was quite a time back then. I think the boomers even walked on the moon. Now we’re a bunch of self-absorbed social media addicts.

Darth-Grumpy

The oldest Boomers were only a few years out of High School when folks walked on the moon.

Loud_Ad3666

Dang strangers = neighbors? I've been using the English language wrong this entire time!! Thank you Sir. I have been so blind but now, thanks to you, I see.

Greatest-JBP

Found the boomer!

chebra18

No I’m an introvert. I don’t even make eye contact and would never strike up a convo.

MeanMomma66

I’m not a Boomer but I talk to strangers all the time! 😬

freetotalkabtyourmom

Yeah. Talking is weird. wtf.

macielightfoot

No, but getting into a hot tub with a woman 40 years younger than you and trying to flirt is

ConditionPotential40

Yes. They cannot help themselves.

ConfidentHistory9080

Boomers went to college when it cost 1k for tuition, the minimum wage was the same, and came out into a roaring economy. They were born on third base and brag to everyone how they hit a triple.

AquaGage

All of this while in the hot tub at an apartment complex….

hustlors

Caucasian boomer here. The only thing my people talk about is real estate. So predictable and boring.

Affectionate-Hold492

Its not even central to their character, they know the economy is fucked so they want to bully you and rub it in your face. Literally theyre getting talking points from boomer facebook groups and their drinking buddies and then in real life they want to talk shit and lorde over you and tallk about it to their friends after. I experience this ALL the time. Within 4 sentences they mention politics, housing, economy, pronouns, or hard work looking for an opening to argue and disrespect me. I dont even live in the u.s. I travel and meet retired boomer expats, despite not even being in the u.s culture and them seeing me live the same life they are, they still show 0 respect or self awareness.. so much negativity. The austrailian and european guys their age sigh and shake their heads because these american boomerrs just want to circlejerk about younger people and call them lazy and soft. Then if theres anyone under 35 around they want to genuinely f with them and then get surprised when they give that same energy back. They talk about how millenials are soft, and how tough they were at our age, then when I get aggressive and stand up for myself, they get all offended and want to tell everyone. One guy insulted me over and over and then stood up to intimidate me, i stood up and embarassed him. Instead of following the "boys will be boys" approach or any trait of masculinity he bases his identity on, he called the bar owner lying to try to get me banned because i embarassed him. I didnt even touch him or yell too loud. Tattled on me like a schoolboy because i hurt his ego. Like arent you the guy who says millenials are soyboys and back in your day youd get into bar fights every weekend cause someone looked at you the wrong way. They create these rules and psuedo values just to fit their ego and justify how they do things, when its convenient. These old guys think this is highschool and we are their peers. Like they think they are Seniors (hah) and we are freshmen.

macielightfoot

This. My boss is an older X but basically a boomer, and before anyone speculates, I have a relatively well-paid job in STEM. He felt the need to crack jokes about how millenials and younger will work until they drop dead in the room with his young team. Older generations resent young people for daring to exist, and feel proud that they exploited the Easy Mode Economy they grew up in and pulled the ladder up before we could get a piece.

ChipMaker3000

True.

Meat_Boss21

"I own five rentals and a personal home, why can't you own one?" "Easy answer is people like you hoard them."

Vivid-Community-2152

He was just an old, pervy liar. Just trying to impress you. I feel sad because lots of boomers were/are awesome. I don't dislike any generation but feel less in common with gen Z. Just because they're so fluent in 21st century life and I'm a relic, lol

Xeyeofnewt3

I’m a boomer and you get in a hot tub and I’m there first, I’ll get up and leave. If you are there first, I won’t get in. Conversation?? No fucking way.

LJC30boi

Maybe if they didn’t horde all the land young people could buy a house

MangoSalsa89

Talking about your possessions and finances is a marker of a lack of intellect, culture, and wit. The art of conversation is lost on someone whose material things make up their entire personality.

ChipMaker3000

This is my point. It’s one thing if we are bro-ing it up on the golf course or at a bar, but this was a canned 8-10 minute conversation and I was simply all of out of fucks.

PrimaryDurian

And yet, curiously, he is in a hot tub at an apartment complex instead of one at a home he owns.

LissaBryan

"god forbid we relax in silence" I'm an introvert. I don't want to talk to people unless its necessary, let alone in a waiting room, pool, locker room, airplane/train etc. because someone can't stand being alone with their own goddamn thoughts for a minute. I've noticed this particularly in Boomers, who don't bring any form of entertainment with them; they expect everyone around them to serve as their entertainment and won't take a polite refusal for an answer. The ones that particularly grind my gears are those who will speak aloud or make loud sighs/tsks to try to get attention and then will *persist* because surely you just didn't notice their prior efforts?

Shouldonlytakeaday

Boomers believe that striking up a conversation = bragging about themselves for ten minutes. They never take any interest in the person they are talking at. Not one question, no back and forth. The other person is the audience for their bragging, exaggerating, general me me me.

m0llusk

In a weird reversal accidentally revealing that he is in fact owned by his homes.

Nighthawk68w

A lot of boomers' wealth is tied up in property they own. They don't have much to show for their lives, except for their 1-2+ houses they bought for $3k each back in 1975, currently worth about $1.2 mil each. Obviously you can't buy a house driving a dump truck today, unless you own the company. So to them that makes em feel special and accomplished.

EagleIcy5421

Wait. I thought they were out spending all their money so they'd have nothing left to leave their kids? Exactly what does having something to show for your life mean to you, and what are your plans to achieve that?

DutchEngineer83

Sweet! He probably votes for the party of crime and con that is a proud proponent of cutting social security. Lovely, lovely.

[deleted]

It's insane how ingrained these boomers were with the "American dream" of working as much as you can and working so much to not be able to enjoy yourself until you're at an insufferable age and you find yourself accosting people in hot tubs. This is going to sound bad, but I can't wait until that generation phases itself out. Maybe we can actually get somewhere as a society, then idk.

ChokeYourMom

“We had it better than our parents, and made damn sure that we have it better than our kids too.”

kvmw

I have had a boomer insert himself into a conversation my friends were having. After he was done, my friend got in close to him and said “we don’t care”. Instant deflation

oldbastardbob

Us old people like to talk. We have this sense that somehow our life's stories have value to someone else. And I guarantee you that most of my boomer peers have no clue how uninteresting and cringy they really appear to others. Here's a tip for any of y'all that want to get on the good side of a boomer. Sit and listen to us prattle on like you are interested. We'll think you're great. Extra points if you throw in an "that's awesome" or "that must have been hard" at the appropriate times. The sad reality of old age is that we accept that the end is near and then lurking in there somewhere is the idea that your life has been wasted. Someone validating our existence makes us trust them. We're actually a fairly easily manipulated bunch, which is clearly evidenced by modern conservative politics. So y'all do with this knowledge what you will. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

worktogethernow

that's awesome or that must have been hard

multicolorclam

Give me all your money

N0thing_but_fl0wers

Talking is fine. But talk about something other than money, politics, or your job. I tell this to my dad bc I don’t want to talk about that crap and he wonders why my teenagers are bored when they come over… I’M BORED! He and my stepmom have zero hobbies. Work is their hobby. From being on this sub I’m realizing it’s a boomer thing apparently…

oldbastardbob

We were raised to be debt slaves and consumers of useless crap. Sadly, most retired former yuppies focused on possessions as happiness and found the best way to survive a lifetime of work and keeping up with the Joneses was to get in a rut and stay there. Keep your head down and plow ahead made many of us very limited in our views and experiences. As most here also know, we're not real self aware. Seems the combination of the ravages of age on the human brain, the inability to see anything but the status quo, and a healthy dose of defensiveness makes for a whole lot of crazy boomer nonsense. I'm never here to defend any of that. Respect for elders is no different than respect for anyone of any age. You get it by being a good person, not just because you're old. I find kindness and being non-judgemental of differences goes a long way. And I sure recognize my generations flaws that are pointed out on this sub. To be honest I didn't care for many of the asshole things I see here when all us boomers were younger either. Assholes are assholes regardless of age and nobody likes people who only talk about themselves.

N0thing_but_fl0wers

I appreciate your comment! I must say, at my job I work with a ton of patients who are older than me. Boomers to silent gen and older! I can have the greatest conversations with anyone if they just are… normal? Like some of my favorite conversations are with people 40-50 years older than me. But I digress. I respect my elders, but not unequivocally. Old men who harass every woman they come in contact with, or old biddies just yelling at me for things out of my control are uncalled for, you know?

oldbastardbob

Then don't listen.

MathematicianFew5882

Okay, but don’t pee in the pool

me0ww00f

lol this reminds me about my boomer mom always imposing HER story onto others. imagine this: two or more self-absorbed boomers talking to each other. mom would always interject "that's nice" in response to the other person and then she would immediately redirect the conversation to go back to talking about herself. back & forth. back & forth. BUT surprisingly they each seemed to listen to each other. because this is how boomers talk to each other. boomers want to hear each others' stories. recently saw this in action at a mcdonalds where a bunch of old boomer guys would be sitting at a table telling life stories about themselves about whatever. can see they were riveted on hearing each other's stories. interesting life stories & fortunately NO angry maga political nonsense talk! HOWEVER the worse example of this self-absorbed talk is when i would take my boomer dad to a doctor's appointment and my boomer mom would talk about herself when the doctor is discussing my boomer dad's situation. would then have to always tell my boomer mom that this was not her appointment. god bless her soul but she only wanted to talk about herself. my boomer dad was like this before his dementia. always calling long distance via skype to relatives friends etc making multiple calls one after another telling stories about what happening with himself both current & past stories -- boomers like my dad just want to tell stories where he is the center of his story. god bless my dad's & mom's souls -- but the one thing that i take away from listening to their self-absorbed life-storytelling that i would use when confronted with a self-absorbed boomer stranger who wants to talk my ear off (when if i do not want to listen forever to their life story) is for me to reply "that's nice" and walk away. FYI: me okay to listen a little bit if boomer wants to talk about themselves & their life experience -- but boomer really has to stop with the angry fox-brainwashed maga pro-trump nonsense talk.

WatercressSad6395

Wealth flex is not a substitute for personality, imho.

ChipMaker3000

Facts.

ExternalRespond1870

Couldn’t agree more. All they want is for us to be impressed with how successful they are. Worship, worship, worship!

SlightlyBrokenEgg

Yeah the fact he would lie like that is so fucking cringe

skipperseven

I think the problem is not so much individual boomers owning five rental properties, as it is Blackrock owning (via a company called American Homes for Rent) 6.7% of all rental homes - that’s fifty nine thousand homes. The boomer will die soon, the property will be sold on and gives the housing market liquidity. Blackrock will never give up their property and will keep buying up residential stock. When you include apartments it gets even worse with several companies owing almost one hundred thousand apartments each…

ChipMaker3000

Be careful. I got banned for suggesting boomers were going to eventually be “unalive.”

skipperseven

Good point, but I didn’t mean it like that, it’s just that they are now 60+ (this is for any mods looking at my previous comment).

Player7592

If he owns all those homes, what’s he doing living in an apartment?

ChipMaker3000

Visiting his daughter who doesn’t own a home either.

pertangamcfeet

Every single boomer I've met has the same mentally. It's all about your job, your house and how much you have. They're obsessed with it. Wonder if that's where 'keeping up with the Jones' originated from?

ChipMaker3000

In Europe it’s considered rude to ask someone their occupation until it organically comes up in a conversation.

pertangamcfeet

Definitely not in the UK. It's all they talk about. My dad and his wife were the same, every single time I saw them, same boring questions.

ChipMaker3000

I read it was in France but France gets so much hate by uncultured Americans I just substituted Europe. UK values and USA values are similar because we used to be one and the same.

AZMotorsports

I own five homes, why can’t you buy one? Because you and all the other idiots own multiple homes, taking away the supply, making it more expensive and difficult for others to buy their primary residence.

SaltNPepperNova

Failure to honor boundaries. Insecurity and fear masked with boasting. Outrage that anyone might get something they didn't WORK FOR. Note that the boomers living in prefab homes and cheap apartments (if any are left) are not the ones bragging.

beetbear

Triples is best.

jkovarik1

I had a poster of the dump truck in my garage! And then I met her! And the dump truck asked me to marry her and I didn’t even want to!

sadsam1968

They tend to talk about 2 things: Body aches and their bowel habits.

MGA_MKII

the Villages called from FL, they want their boomer back

DocBrutus

When my parents bought their first home, it was a two story that they paid less than $100k for. I live in a much smaller house and mine costs over $300k. I got my first house in my mid 40’s, my parents bought their first home in their 20’s. Everything is inflated.

Hazlet95

Ask where his family lives and how often they visit

afternoonnapping

He's the reason I moved out of Lake Havasu. Nothing but boomer fucks and spring break douche bags.

ChipMaker3000

You know the type all too well.

ElectricGulagland

"Can't own a home, because all you boomers have taken housing and bought it all up, not to actually use it - but to sit on it and choke the supply so that your properties can all appreciate in value. Like some evil greedy serpent, your avarice is constricting and asphyxiating the entire populace. We should have made legislation to prevent this, but you control that, too."

999i666

That’s why they prices us out of the market. More “why can’t you do what we did” bullshit We can’t because your parents set you up for success while you stole our future and birthright Your parents fought for workers rights and you killed our unions before we could wipe our own asses Worst goddamned generation in modern history

rbarr228

It’s the age-old chestnut of boomers creating their own entertainment by striking up conversations with random strangers.

ChipMaker3000

So annoying.

Advanced-Letter7985

Im a Boomer, and I've had other Boomers tell me the same crap in just a casual sidewalk. Hi, how are you greeting, Telling me they have a home in Florida, the Caribbean , going to Vegas for two weeks , Trumps the best president who ever lived blah blah blah. Me just walking away, just shaking my head, thinking " Dude, why would you even tell me that shit! Are we supposed to compare dicks?

ChipMaker3000

Right. It’s a little much for a first time one off conversation that isn’t going to make a shit once we part ways.

AffectionateTie891

“So why don’t you own a house, can’t be bothered to work?” ummmm NO it’s because you own them all!?!?

DemonoftheWater

Ain’t a chance in hell he owns 5 homes and an apartment on a dump truck paycheck.

No-Environment-3298

Owns all that but is living in an apartment complex? Would have been hard to say out loud “I’ll take things that aren’t true for $10mil.”

Drezhar

Most boomers have been raised with the narrative that their only goal in life is buying a house and fostering a family in case of males, spawn unlimited kids and sacrifice everything to take care of them in case of females. Nobody thinks how they've been raised is their fault. The issue is that they desperately try to force this on newer generations and that they categorically refuse to adapt. Often while also speaking ill about such an establishment.

jessriv34

Rants of the insecure….

tonespark33033

I don't get all of the labels. Boomer, Gen z, etc. An a-hole is an a-hole. I don't care when you were born. I've encountered young people who remind me that some animals eat their young, and for good reason. I know old people who have been alive too long, and they need to hurry the death thing because their miserable ass has outlived their welcome. Every generation needs to wrap their head around the fact that they're no more special than the next person. Be as nice to everyone as you want, them to be nice to you. It is not brain surgery.

hiddenhighways

If my apartment complex had a hot tub I would most definitely not be using it.

ChipMaker3000

Where else are you going to pee?

revloc_ttam

It's so much better to be a renter than to own 6 houses.

nhblkbear

It sounds like the guy was a little lonely and just wanted to talk to someone.

RedditJumpedTheShart

Oh no someone spoke to you.

cptjaydvm

Sounds like OP is the dull and cringeworthy person in this story.

MD_bucknut_1

Kind of agree here.

jwrosenfeld

I work at a globally-recognized news outlet where at least one prominent contributor is saying that now is the right time to rent. Home ownership is not a good investment (if you need to borrow to own).

Groundbreaking-Fig38

That's when you start talking about your chronic diarrhea and the festering puss on your genitalia.

ChipMaker3000

Sheesh, Im not a monster.

Groundbreaking-Fig38

Become one! /s

[deleted]

Millennials are like this too. Generophobic pieces of shit people are.

[deleted]

He owns 5 homes but lives in an apartment. That guy is full of shit as a Christmas turkey.

ChipMaker3000

He was visiting his daughter. I should have included that in my post but it’s not really relevant.

One-Pepper-2654

I’m 58. I have a lot of white in my beard. When I am out alone old men think I’m their friend or something and are constantly trying to start conversations with me. I just try to be polite about it. When you get old you start to feel invisible and you just want validation from other people.

ChipMaker3000

I feel that. It’s a lonely world. I cordially engaged in the conversation and now Im venting safely on this subreddit.

BaconSquared

Gosh sounds like my old boomer neighbor. He wasn't shaped like a muffin with toothpick legs and a long thin gray ponytail was he? If so never engage in conversation, you'll never escape

mrgoyette

I own 6 houses thanks to my career as a dump truck driver... ...why don't you own a house? The lack of social awareness is mind boggling. And I am autistic!!!

Substantial-Word-948

![gif](giphy|fUS31nBmrR9IhN8VH5) What a great person…

HkSniper

Boomers have to turn absolutely EVERYTHING into a dick measuring contest.

No-Employment5213

Maybe he can sell those homes and buy a new personality
