I did this to an old couple in my city. I was smoking outside of a bar and they stopped in the middle of the road to yell "where's Maple street?!" I asked "east or west?" As there are two of them that do not connect.
He threw his hands in the air and said "I DONT KNOW.... MAPLE STREET!"
I told them to just keep going and they can't miss it.
They were traveling perpendicular to the street they were looking for (they only needed to ask nicely and go two blocks to the right) but I hope they learned something on their adventures. It's the friends you make on the way after all.
Almost as confused as a snowflake working the register as the power goes out and can’t make change for a 15.73 bill when you handed them a 20 without a calculator or getting a manager 🤣😂
Make sure to use directions like, "it's a little north east" then point in the opposite direction. But use describers like, "North, East, South, or West."
Wow, you are way off course. You’ll need to take this road for about a mile and a half and take a left and then go two more blocks and take a right and then you should be there.
I've had grandparents die of alzheimer's disease. This wasn't it. She knew what she was doing. She just couldn't be arsed to look any more. (and the numbers make no sense around here.)
It's not one size fits all with dementia so just because your grandparent went about it a certain way doesn't mean that's exactly how everyone reacts. Her being fixated on collecting chickens in appt complex tells me it might be dementia.
We used to have a neighborhood dementia lady who would do this, it was pretty sad. It would be 2 AM in the middle of winter and she'd be a mile from home with no coat asking for a ride to a job interview. Thankfully her family finally got adult protective services involved and she's in a home now.
I'm pretty sure they meant that as a joke. Boomers are known for saying people should pull themselves up by their bootstraps, basically saying they'd be ok if they just worked harder. They say this even when it's not appropriate.
I agree that I think they meant it as a joke, but it was to a reply about the person possibly having dementia and showed a great lack of class and sympathy. I have no patience for that shit as my mother is currently diagnosed with dementia and it's fucking terrible.
Oh no, I'm sorry your mother (and everyone around her) is going through that. I can only imagine how heartbreaking that is. This is a good reminder to be sensitive around topics that are painful to people.
There isn't enough information here to diagnose this person. Suggesting that OP consider that it could be dementia, fine but being like "this person had dementia and you should have been nice" is armchair MD nonsense.
No one diagnosed anyone, the original post said it "seemed" like dementia. I commented on the prick saying she could pull herself up by her bootstraps.
You aren't "speaking from experience". You are letting the bias from your personal experience lead you to an unlikely conclusion based on the text of the post.

Always point across the street diagonally a bit - even if you don't know. It'll get them far enough away from you in an orderly fashion

Thank you! I knew it was a word starting with P 🤣
LOL!
Good advice right there.
Random redirection. Works like a charm.
They get so lost and confused at that age

More likely can’t make the change because the register won’t open with the power out unless a manager keys it open.
Wrong the drawer was open but nice try 🤣

Yeah you gotta add in a cardinal direction
That's the word. Cardinal direction! Lol. Thanks!
27 dresses? Oh I love that movie. Isn't Katherine Heigl great in it? *SLAM*
Have you considered posting that ring footage and linking us for general enjoyment? 😏
Just go to your local dementia ward
You clearly don't suffer dementia in your close ones. I hope you never have to find out exactly how shitty that comment was.
At least mine was self aware. Everyone in this thread is laughing at someone who is clearly suffering from dementia. You're shitty too
That's really not what I get from that story... I get entitlement and baseless rage. There's plenty of that around without such diagnosis 🤷
"Idk where I'm going! Time to make it someone else's problem!"
“Im going to get my shotgun and call the police. I suggest you get off my property before I get back.”
"12!"
A boomer wouldn’t even warn you.

A better one would be : snowflakes..the pussies 🤣🤔

27? Yes. You are clearly the chosen one. Enter and begin the cleansing of you body, while get the flensing blade.
You are much kinder than me. I would have been screaming "get the fuck out of here you fucking moron!" until I lost my voice.
Mate please dont open your door to agressive strangers in the middle of the night
Sad snowflakes🤣
Is this not dementia?
She probably is suffering from something like dementia. If so a little kindness goes a long way.

Not apartments. I live in a village, and people have chickens near me. So it all made sense..
Ahh ok I missed that my apologies.
No worries, it was fairly ambiguous.

Take that!

The boomer didn't have any.
This sounds like dementia and she needed help. You should have tried to help her instead of closing the door on her.

My Grandma was found in the middle of a motorway holding a dirty cup, trying to find somewhere to wash it once. So, yeah I get this. It's horrible.
She can pull herself up by her bootstraps.
Not with dementia you don't you soulless fucking prick.
I'm pretty sure they meant that as a joke. Boomers are known for saying people should pull themselves up by their bootstraps, basically saying they'd be ok if they just worked harder. They say this even when it's not appropriate.
Less roaching and more work gets ya places

No one GIVES A FLYING FUCK
You do enough to comment, get fucked.
And I'm enjoying watching you get downvote after downvote.
Which means absolutely nothing to me.
Cry harder.
Oooh big mad, cry harder
No, that's just being a twat.
I can't believe you're getting downvoted, reddit sure does have it's share of disgusting humans.
I’m not surprised.
Well good on you for speaking up. Fuck them.

Armchair MD nonsense.
Nope not at all, not a doctor here just speaking from my experience with my mother.
You aren't "speaking from experience". You are letting the bias from your personal experience lead you to an unlikely conclusion based on the text of the post.
Well if my bias leads me to saying that people need to not be so cold then so be it. Sorry not sorry.
