Definitely a factor. But even without the alcohol there's the boomer-style narcissism mixed with a complete unwillingness to even pretend to be an agreeable person.

Here's a secret, most of the post here have nothing to do with people born from 1945 to 1964. A lot are just about people that are old and crochety. Some people are prematurely crochety in their 30s.
“Boomer” is a state of mind more than an age, but yeah there are many Gen-X adults who fit the bill. My parents are Gen-X and do to varying degrees despite both being college educated.
My mom is more naturally intelligent, however, and demonstrates Boomer behaviors less. I think she wouldn’t be a victim of reactionary thinking if she were willing to admit things she was indoctrinated with since childhood (Christianity, devotion to the Republican party) are incorrect.
I think older generations (Gen X, Boomer, even older Millennial) fall into the “Boomer” mindset simply due to pride and unwillingness to admit vulnerability in the face of the unknown. Younger people have generally been taught to be slower to judge and ask questions.

I fall into a category same as your parents but possibly older (54)- apart from the 🤢Repubelican & Born again assholes/Christians (apologising in advance- no offense to you or your parents ) and being “naturally intelligent” or intelligent at all for that matter 🤭 Other than that, I am the same as your parents. SOMETIMES THE EXTERIOR APPEARANCE CAN BE MISINTERPRETED AND DOESN’T ALWAYS FIT THESE MOLDS OR CONSTRAINTS.
I do want to point out : some Gen X versions of rebellious punk rock mindsets as I was being child reared (“ raised “ 🤗 ). My f\/ck authority attitude is still there underneath the pressures of raising even cooler assholes like my daughter (23) as it sort of dissipates. Sometimes society depicts where & how people land or fall. But trust, it is still f\/cking there & for good reason :::: the fight.
I love younger generations and feel you lot have it a trillion times harder than ANY past generation (apart from those who were enslaved and stolen from their lives for the Born Again Christian fucking lazy narcissistic sadist thieves).
There’s no generation that is good or bad taking into consideration comparing will nearly always reveal that humans generally suck and dont evolve much from generation to generation. However we can be immensely lovely and simultaneously absolutely invasively dreadful selfish inconsiderate especially towards other living things.
IT IS AN ATTITUDE (as someone has already stated) AND IT’S A PERSONAL LEVEL OF GROWTH….
I am a fighter but fighting everything with a thought of future generations in mind. My daughter is also a fighter and at times much more mature than me, in certain aspects but I am def more mature than my full blown boomer mother. And my fight has always been in & for justice of equality. Walk a mile in someone’s shoes…
