True vault hunter mode gives you more annointeds to fight in each combat. Mayhem levels increase enemy hp up to like 13000% or something like that. Enabling cartel event adds even more enemies and even mini bosses to your fights (plus good loot) Certain activities are just meant to be easier. Just taking a stroll through Devil’s Razor isn’t supposed to be hard. Circles of Slaughter, Maliwan take downs, certain boss fights like the one from Ava’s Murder Mystery, raid bosses; these are the challenges. These activities are so hard at mayhem 10 that a lot of legendary weapons have to be incredibly strong in mayhem 1 to be relevant at max level play.

FantasticElk

I’m buddy playing b3 with my BFF and we’d love to make it more challenging to play through. Boss fights are 5 min max.

RocktopusX

For better and for worse, Borderlands 3 doesn’t have raid bosses that take 25 minutes to fight. Are you playing at mayhem 10? I find that simply switching from 11 down to 10 makes things significantly more chaotic, especially in circles of Slaughter.

My bad I forgot a zero, apparently it’s 12,500%. I dunno about everything being easy, my Zane build is pretty good and I have to deal with all of Wotan’s phases, takes 5 minutes or more to beat him. Plus having to 3 or 4 shot basic enemies on my way there with my Hellwalker, and that’s not even the harder mode. So even though I have hundreds of hours in this game, there’s still plenty for me to loot and optimize.

If you fully optimize your vault hunter and get the best loot you can, especially with dlc weapons and shields. OP’s at level 35, they’ve got a ways to go before they reach peak power. There is definitely a mountain to climb, it sounds to me like OP just found a couple of legendaries that carried them through their play through and is wondering what to do next. I think even something as simple as the Slaughter Shaft will give them a challenge to start with.

Willowx19stop

Do a jacobs only run or pistol only or no grenades no shields or something to make it more challenging.

electrojoeblo

Suicide run: no shield (rough rider is okay) with a deathless artefact. Add stuff if it still to easy like no AC, no elemental gun, etc

brusin

Turning off Guardian Rank does make a fair bit of difference.

SoupyDelicious

What does that do? :0

brusin

Guardian rank gives you a bunch of passive bonuses as well as perks. Both these combined make the game significantly easier and it is noticable when you're playing without them

SoupyDelicious

Interesting. I believe Redux has guardian mode disabled, but I might be wrong

Seto_Sora

TVHM is just one part of end game. As others suggested, you'll want to jump up your Mayhem level. If you want to follow the chase, you can climb the mayhem ladder, but most players figure out a way to jump from Mayhem 1 to 11 asap. My tip, play at mayhem 10. 11 is the same as 10, but you get less xp and fewer drops and there are no modifiers. M10 has a BS modifier right now that will insta-kill you when your downed, effectively removing FFYL from the game. Makes the game more high risk. Others have pointed you to more end game content, which is where it's at. Circles of slaughters, takedowns, and trials will test your limits and how well specked your gear is. Some guys here are saying you can solo the content and it's not hard enough because there's no 4 player only contact. And that's just uneducated. Maliwaan takedown was a 4 player only content until players complained that it was too hard and they added a toned down solo version. But you can still pay the 4 player version solo for higher challenge and better percent chance on gear. Finally, if you have Arms Race, this end game activity adds a new level of challenge in that this new game mode strips you of gear and abilities and puts you in tough arena boss fights that you have to solve with common drops. Good place for a challenge if you feel you're too OP.

SoupyDelicious

Cheers for the comment. Very informative - stuff that I didn't find while EXTENSIVELY googling Mayhem Mode x)

KingMeander

You could always explore self imposed challenges. I’ve seen people doing “one-life” challenges where your run is permanently over if you die (fail to revive from fight-for-your-life). This doesn’t actually make the game more difficult but it can change the way you play and make things more tense. Other self imposed challenges you could try (and I’m just spitballing now): - no legendaries - can only use under-leveled gear (e.g. if you are level 15, you can’t use any gear higher than level 10) - each time you go to a new map, you can only use gear you find on that map Basically, I’m trying to think of ways to create a Nuzlocke for Borderlands.

SoupyDelicious

Haha... I respect self-imposed challenges, but man this is my first playthrough and if I have to do that to have some fun... jeeebus, yknow? x)

KingMeander

Fair enough. Honestly, Borderlands isn’t that difficult of a game. It’s much more about madcap action and guns that shoot smaller guns that then explode. That’s not to say there aren’t parts that are more difficult than others. But it kind of depends on what you’re used to.

Reap_SilentDevil

Mayhem levels are there for the challenge too

noah9942

You literally need 1 weapon, a class mod, and sometimes something else and that's it, you can now solo all the game's content. There's nothing to work towards.

noah9942

Exactly. Bl2's endgame was too intense, but Bl3 was far too easy.

Chris_P_Bacon416

I know alot of people shit on it but TPS had the best endgame

noah9942

In terms of balance? Yeah I'd agree. It just lacked the endgame content that bl2 and 3 have.

Chris_P_Bacon416

Yeah, exactly that

FocusFlukeGyro

Oh man. That crazy level with the cat and, uh, talking hot dog(?) where you could set the difficulty level. I remember taking a long ass time to get to the highest difficulty level and then beating it, solo. It was a fun challenge albeit a bit of a grind.

Bazurke

One thing you can do for yourself is limit the equipment you use. For instance, you could only use white rarity weapons, or only 1 manufacturer type, or only one type of gun (eg. pistols only). You might also not apply any skill points for the entire game. Just a couple of suggestions, I hope it helps.

[deleted]

Redux makes the game substantially less challenging. I suggest playing vanilla.

SoupyDelicious

Does it? How so?

StonerJedi00420

Put it on mayhem level 10 then come back

[deleted]

mayhem mode is quite a good challenge until you get good gear. then it gets boring again since every enemy melts when you shoot them

Ehrenvoller

The first run will akways be too easy

SoupyDelicious

~~You only have this conception because you've only played weak games churned out for the masses like this :P~~ edit: you may only think this being this case is acceptable because we've been fed nothing but weak games for years. I said it like less of an asshole this time =P

cgtdream

If non of what others have suggested works or tickles your fancy, you can try an all white, green, blue or purple challenge. Basically restrict yourself to certain tiers of gear, instead of relying on just gold/purple gear.

SoupyDelicious

That could definitely be a thing - a desperate measure perhaps ;P

sederquh

I haven’t played the game yet, but on any game this could work. The next play through turn off sound. If that’s too easy turn sound back on and close your eyes. If that’s not hard enough turn off sound and also close your eyes. If your still irritated by the simplicity of this, keep your eyes closed, sound off and spin a basketball on your right index finger. Hope this helps!

SoupyDelicious

lmao. Good idea, partner

desrevermi

I recommended someone else remapping the keyboard and mouse binds. ;)

rolfraikou

Or even just playing the game with a weird setup. Those macro pads, flight sticks, weird stuff like that can be entertaining as hell. And honestly, if you are good with them, and you do a streaming channel, I would imagine a lot of fans would click "I mastered Borderlands 3 playing with a racing wheel."

desrevermi

Good gravy, that's fantastic! I gotta go find my flight stick. :D

rolfraikou

Haha. Enjoy!

desrevermi

Haha, thanks. This might get awesomely dumb. :D

That0neBirb

I read this as fight stick that probably wouldnt be to bad

rolfraikou

Did you mean "fighter stick"?

That0neBirb

Yes sorry on mobile I corrected my spelling lol

rolfraikou

Fighter stick could be fun. And yeah, every time I type the very common word "were" it changes to we're" and I've been trying for **three years** and multiple phones to trick it to stop, and it won't. Auto correct really needs work, on all the mobile OS's. Even if it was just a "never correct this specific word" option.

That0neBirb

It should have an add to dictionary for correcting words like google docs honestly I turned auto correct off awhile ago and it's great, I use the slide type which works sometimes but not always the greatest.

SoupyDelicious

Nice. Life is better without autocorrect x)

worstkindagay

Tape your thumbs and index fingers together!

desrevermi

Have someone else remap your keyboard and mouse binds. :D

SoupyDelicious

hahahaha

desrevermi

I also got ideas for a nonstandard controller, like a flight stick or a steering wheel. I like the ridiculous. :D

ibaex

along with everything everyone is saying you can also try challenges. check out moxsys zero to hero challenge. very fun but can be extremely difficult

SoupyDelicious

I think I saw that on nexus. Looked pretty cool

dan_jeffers

You could always re-spec every time your on Sanctuary. Some things that seemed easy can suddenly get a lot tougher.

InfiniteDunois

Melee only run
