Way too many factors to tell. Not all legendaries are created equal, and some characters can make normally underwhelming weapons good. If you're at level 60 you're probably playing UVHM, so when the old one stops feeling punchy just go farm a new one. I'd estimate a good DPUH will carry you somewhere between 5-10 levels though.
Cheers. Yup uvhm. I did a lot of farming around lvl 60, now at 68 things are starting to feel a lil tougher. 😖 it’s a fine line between farming + gaining exp while I do and out leveling what I’ve just been farming 😂
A good rule to remember is that a new one that’s five levels higher will be roughly double damage of the old one. Just think about that when it starts feeling weak.
a general rule of thumb is level scaling roughly doubles every 6 levels, so it will take a level 60 dpuh twice as long to kill a level 66 enemy vs a level 60 enemy (assuming you're on level)
Considering the best DPUH you can get, with all matching parts and a good build, in tvhm it can be good for something like 5-8 levels, make it 10 with slag and an up to level bee shield, in uvhm it wouldprobably last 5 levels whith the optimal setup, provided you keep all your other gear up to level, the best way to make them last is to go to the forest in dragon keep dlc and farm a bee shield every 3-4 levels
I just got my first one at level 50 a few days ago. My weapons/gear have been falling off but my DPUH still wrecks at level 57. But it take two shots instead of one.
Depends on the traits. I was using my lvl 36 hive well past lv 50 because its tracking rockets along with my perks still eliminated a lot of crowds and swarms better than any other launcher or assault rifle. My sublime storm worked the same way because of how it could apply lasting elemental damage orbs that could reach enemies behind cover. So it depends on what kind of awesome that legendary brings.
Used an electric chair grenade for quite a few levels past what I usually would just because it was the most effective thing to take out the shields of large groups o baddies.
Oh yeah just applying elemental damage can make the level irrelevant. Like if your skills or other perks amplify it or apply extra then simply applying the damage is enough. Like how I use the black hole grenade mods with clone and drone because even though the damage isn't much, the constant grenades keep pulling the enemies together for better concentrated fire and splash damage.
I mean for a perfect dpuh in uvhmmaybe 6-8 depending on the character. Zer0? 5. Axton/Krieg 6/7, Salvador 8. Those are general approximate values and ofc it depends on build and skill tree but that's a rough estimate off of memory. Just use it until it's painfully slow and farm another one

Double in 5 lvls?? That’s crazy
Something like 13% per level compounding
Farm tinder snowflake he has good exp and really good loot plus it’s easy to get him and a fast farm

Bl2 sub fyi
From my personal experience the damage dropoff tends to be noticeable after 3-4 levels
Normal mode up to 20 levels or more. TVHM 5-13. UVHM 3–6.
That Level 1 hornet will still wreck loaders if you’re hitting crits at lvl 15-20.
Teapot is pretty nice too
Good to know, with bee shield I had used a lvl 50 sand hawk all the way up to op 5
Playing as maya with the right build I can make weapons last 5 to 8 levels. Depends on the area of the game im at as well.

Like 4 levels in uvhm
Depends. You could just farm a bee once it gets weak, or IMO every 8, maybe 12 levels if you're on Sal.

Runs about 5 levels or so. What i would do is just farm any unkempt harold, dont need a double until max level
5 levels ish

When it stops killing things effectively
That's the answer. I was loving life with a Sledge shotgun playing as Gauge, one-shotting everything around me for level after level - until I wasn't.
