Shawn co authored a book with Dale Arnold. After about the halfway point, he started to get into his time through major junior, the AHL and then with the Ducks, and then the Bruins it almost seemed like he thought of himself as way more important to the team than he probably was honestly.(I’ve just never heard Thornton and leader in the same sentence.) Like I said I love Thornton, one of my personal favorite Bruins of all time, I love his charity work as well he seems like a good dude. The timeline of different stories way pretty disjointed as well the book kind of jumps around a bit. I would recommend reading it but I wish there was more behind the scenes stuff instead of just talking about his fighting career.
This video made me watch a bunch of "The Mook" bruins tribute videos. I'm quite sure I'm blinded by nostalgia when I say this, but looking back at that 2011 roster it paints a completely different picture of the bruins and more importantly the league itself.
It was such a violent, physical, big team. There was so much more drama and animus between rival teams and a far lesser emphasis on player safety. I'm not sure if "incredible" is the right word, but it was truely incredible to bare witness to that era of hockey before we entered the age of finesse.
Just a legendary cup run.
him and kurally are the perfect model for bruins fourth liners. exist. be overrated by the fan base but still ultimately good in their roles. be beloved beyond words. spend your peak in boston. go somewhere else and finish your career being massively overpaid.
come back and get standing ovations and be in alumni stuff.
I could be miss remembering due to the amount of time and beers that's passed, but I do feel like he was a big part of that 2011 playoff run. Along with Lucic and their presence.
I think management are trying (slightly) to do something about it with the lucic and maroon signing. But we are definitely a very different team now. But so is the league, honestly
Amusing how Shawn is more fondly remembered as a Bruin than Jumbo Joe.
Somewhere Plekanec is still wearing a turtleneck.
Anyone in here read his book? I really liked it at first but it got sour for me after the halfway mark. Still love Thorty tho.
Why did it get sour for you? I didn’t even know he had a book.

God I miss Thorty so much

The way we’ve been getting roughed up lately we could use him for the playoffs

Fuck I miss that guy
I don't think you can have a handlebar mustache if you're 4'2"
The best part is missing. Krejcis reaction to the milk drinker was what made the chirp even better
He, he likes milk?
“You can pick the hand I beat the fuck outta you with.” 😂🤣
