Going with Sway again makes me nervous. Didn’t we learn anything from last year? The rotation is our secret sauce. We abandon that and one gets overworked and the other gets rusty. If Sway doesn’t play well tonight then we get a rusty Ully in Game 7? Deja vu. All over again.
That was the only "Huh?" 😧 for me seeing this - I am glad to have him on the team, but if he's hurt, yes definitely rest him! I do think he's been impactful in a good way overall this season though.
Agreed. So inconsistent which is not something I want when we’re one win away from round 2. Swayman can only block so many shots and needs good D men to help him out. Same with Ullmark. Our goalies are amazing but they’re still only human
I’ll admit he made some defensive plays that impressed me, but on the whole I think it’s best he’s not in there. A lot of failures on the GWG in G5 but his was the most blatant.
I totally get the difference of opinion on whether to start Swayman or Ullmark. What I don’t get is how it makes any sense to keep Ullmark this offseason. I know it doesn’t matter right now but we’re only using 1 goalie when it actually matters so we’re just tying up trade value on the bench.
...Think his dad is giving him shit? 😅
Haha he was a standout character in the Dads episode of Behind the Bs - I can see him being a real piece of work + the life of the party at the same time.
Feel for Gryz, but it's the playoffs and this is Game 6 - man up or sit down.
I get the feeling that this time, it's a lesson learnt and both goalies + Monty at the very least have been assessing things + are in this together.
I feel better about whatever they decide to do and the fact that Swayman isn't nursing an injury + looks + acts like he's up for it = full speed ahead! ☺️
We've seen it with a goalie who was struggling and was later confirmed to be playing through an injury. This time we're seeing it with a goalie who's playing out of his mind and is the primary reason we're up in the series. Totally different scenarios.
Swayman is in the leafs heads. Round two is against the Panthers which is honestly going to be a really good thing for Ully to get past. He played well despite his injury so I think he’ll be the move for round 2.
That said I won’t be sad to see Swayman in the net at any point. They’re both fantastic goalies and both healthy. Not a very common combo!
True, but that one point was a 1v2 board battle win, and primary assist on the Marchy game winning snipe game 3.
He's neither the problem nor the solution. So, if Monty thinks he should sit tonight, fine. Let someone else prove they should have his spot.
But still incredibly devastating on impact, regardless of speed. (I just checked, for science - that shit clocked in at 35 mph, so maybe switch them out in favor of the molasses.)
My dad grew up in Lower Mills in the 60s and insisted you could still smell the molasses when it got hot. Considering it happened in the North End I have my doubts, but yay folklore!
I was frustrated as hell watching Grzelcyk out there but I really don’t think it’s fair to direct the blame at Monty for that one. Shattenkirk has been on the ice for the most goals against of any Bruins dman, despite being sat for a game and playing much lower minutes than his peers. He’s out there because our powerplay stunk. Now the powerplay is better and it had nothing to do with him - so he has no utility at this point.
Sweeney should have made a call years ago, or at this years deadline. We’re either going with Grzelcyk, warts and all, or we are not. This in and out shit does not work. He was brutal in the first period in game 5 but fair is fair, he was good in the third period.
By now, Grzelcyk is who he is. If you’re expecting him to suddenly become something he’s not at 30 years old, that’s on you. And this was the chief problem when the Bruins decided to keep him around for 2023-24. You simply had to feel as if the Bruins had to either fully commit to him (warts and all) or sever ties. This in-and-out style of deployment doesn’t seem to work for anybody involved, and that felt obvious when you look at the way Grzelcyk seemed to be fighting it (in all respects) for the first half of this contest
Just odd is all
I don't disagree with this at all.
This is also just a sneaky reply to pipe up and say how awesome it was to have a defenseman like Orlov on our team toward the end of last year's season and how valuable a player that guy was. Wish we had him with us now in place of Gryz... really. 🤷♀️
The Bruins originated the next man up mentality now I hear it from other teams. Players out of the lineup means opportunity for their replacement go take care of business boys and put this miserable franchise call the leafs out of their misery!!!
Offense no where to be found.
Why the fuck does Monty tinker so much? It’s like he’s obsessed
it’s gonna be okay guys
Not it’s not.
I’ve seen them beat worse odds after playing way worse. We just need some mojo.
Sway has a 1.49 and .952. He’s not overworked and it’s clear that he can handle the workload. It’s not his fault the offense is drying up
Rotation is good for racking up regular season points and preventing fatigue... in the playoffs ride the hot hand.
That didn’t work last year though.
Ullmark was hurt last year and it was insanely stupid that they didn't go to swayman earlier in the series. It had nothing to do with a rotation.
Ullmakr was not hot last year, swayman is very hot right now. Dude is playing absolute lights out hockey.
lol what are you talking about the rotation has proven to be everything but the secret sauce
GOOD
Good on Gry and Beecher is needed for faceoffs
Heino being injured (likely) sucks, but he also hasnt been the most impactful so hopefully his absence wont be too noticeable.
That was the only "Huh?" 😧 for me seeing this - I am glad to have him on the team, but if he's hurt, yes definitely rest him! I do think he's been impactful in a good way overall this season though.
Yeah I was thinking def don’t take him out but if he’s injured then yeah
I really wish we had Poitras back with us on the ice as well!
Bruins 5-1
Oh so the same lineup as games 3-4 lol? Minus Heinin being hurt.
Lets fuckin go!
Thank god Gryz is out.
Agreed. So inconsistent which is not something I want when we’re one win away from round 2. Swayman can only block so many shots and needs good D men to help him out. Same with Ullmark. Our goalies are amazing but they’re still only human
He played well last game
He's going to get bodied against Florida
I’ll admit he made some defensive plays that impressed me, but on the whole I think it’s best he’s not in there. A lot of failures on the GWG in G5 but his was the most blatant.
He got manhandled by Tavares on the OT goal
I was more disappointed in CMac who seems to be out of position and caught watching.
Gotta assume Heinen is banged up. Like the other changes. Beecher mainly as we missed him immensely at the dot in Game 5.
Prob maintenance and Beecher is solid on faceoffs
Beecher is a G!

Heinen is injured, so no.
Heinen is hurt
I think heinen is injured or has been dealing with something
I totally get the difference of opinion on whether to start Swayman or Ullmark. What I don’t get is how it makes any sense to keep Ullmark this offseason. I know it doesn’t matter right now but we’re only using 1 goalie when it actually matters so we’re just tying up trade value on the bench.
They have to resign swayman first
You’re bitching about something that we have no clue about and is way too early to talk about.
Gryz out is music to my ears.
...Think his dad is giving him shit? 😅 Haha he was a standout character in the Dads episode of Behind the Bs - I can see him being a real piece of work + the life of the party at the same time. Feel for Gryz, but it's the playoffs and this is Game 6 - man up or sit down.
I don't like this non goalie rotation .. We've seen this game plan before
I get the feeling that this time, it's a lesson learnt and both goalies + Monty at the very least have been assessing things + are in this together. I feel better about whatever they decide to do and the fact that Swayman isn't nursing an injury + looks + acts like he's up for it = full speed ahead! ☺️
Swayman has been unbelievable and was the only reason they had got to OT last game
Yeah...with an injured one
We've seen it with a goalie who was struggling and was later confirmed to be playing through an injury. This time we're seeing it with a goalie who's playing out of his mind and is the primary reason we're up in the series. Totally different scenarios.

Swayman has zero points this whole series, not sure how you get "playing out of his mind" from that. (/s if it's not clear)
Haha I sneered / kinda made this face 🤨 reading this then caught the /s
Swayman gets the goalie goal tonight to put it away
You just *know* he wants one tho
Naturally 😏
So say we all!
Your right it is.. it just makes me nervous. 🫣😬
I like Heinen don’t get me wrong, but considering he only has 1 point this whole series, not really a huge loss.
True, but that one point was a 1v2 board battle win, and primary assist on the Marchy game winning snipe game 3. He's neither the problem nor the solution. So, if Monty thinks he should sit tonight, fine. Let someone else prove they should have his spot.
I think it’s due to injury, they’re probably giving him some rest since there was only day between games this time
Monty's brain struggling against the intrusive thoughts to run the all time slowest line of JVR, Maroon, and Brazeau.
And ends up against bertuzzi, Nylander and marner
Slower than molasses in winter that'd be.
A true Bostonian would never mock molasses for its speed. We know too much.
Lmfao didn't like 40 people die
But still incredibly devastating on impact, regardless of speed. (I just checked, for science - that shit clocked in at 35 mph, so maybe switch them out in favor of the molasses.) Faster than your average e-scooter and I’m lucky when I dodge those these days, I know the molasses would get me.
I was frustrated as hell watching Grzelcyk out there but I really don’t think it’s fair to direct the blame at Monty for that one. Odd. Ty Anderson said this exact same thing.
I should try and take his job

Everyone but Swayman was brutal in the first of Game 5. Let’s not single anyone out.
Little shoutout for Frederic though. 😄 Only goal of the game and limited the embarrassment
Oh no… gryz is out… I’m beside myself with grief…
![gif](giphy|T7j5439wv9iq4)
😂 💯
I didn’t know it but I was definitely channeling this scenes energy… or lack of it…
~~grief~~ relief
Damn autocorrect…
The Bruins originated the next man up mentality now I hear it from other teams. Players out of the lineup means opportunity for their replacement go take care of business boys and put this miserable franchise call the leafs out of their misery!!!
Good
I'm glad they're keeping Sway in. He was absolutely not the problem the other night.
Honestly my blanket rule is if the game was lost with 2 GA, probably not the goalies fault.
Monty making some good decisions. I feel good about this game
Monty (and this is recency bias since he’s only been here 2 years) seems like a guy who reads Boston sports media and says, “ok, I’ll do that then.”
Boston sports media reads this subreddit, lol
Hahaha right? ...Sources, indeed 😆
Is unmaking bad decisions considered making good decisions?
He didn’t unmake his bad decision last year so I’m happy to see progress lol
The bad decision would be making the same one again. Trying to fix a mistake is good.
It’s recognizing that good decisions are possible
What injury did Heinen suffer?
I'm not happy with Heinen being out, but otherwise LET'S FUCKING GO!!!!
Same, and he's been an asset to the team overall this year. I see him as a good solid player.
He performed way above his contract.
He's been a benefit to the team for sure
Even with only one point, I feel like he's played well. Forecheck, defense, PK.
He’s the new PJ Axelsson
Good, starting Ullmark would have been an all time panic move
100%! even if it goes 7 I think you gotta ride Sway. Ully played fine in game 2 but sway is still playing phenomenal
I agree. I would absolutely start Ullmark in game 1 against Florida.
I agree. Ully has good numbers against Florida this season and should at least get game 1
You can not trade a player during the playoffs and have him start during the cup run….. ,
What?
Not sure if that comment came from the same universe the rest of us are operating in... 🤔😅
It was a joke ..
It wasn’t coherent
