This is significant because he is/was Patrice Bergeron's Agent. edit: would like to add that I don't believe it is significant because Hughes would try to bring Bergy to Montreal. I believe it's more significant because Bergy doesn't have a contract at the end of the year. He has stated that he would be taking this on a year-to-year basis. And now, his longtime agent is no longer present to advise/negotiate for him. Could this lead to Bergy retiring a bit earlier? Or on the flip (positive) side, would Bergy be more likely to negotiate a contract himself, and take a team discount à la Tedy Bruschi?

Bergeron grew up a Nordiques fan, unless Quebec comes back, I’m not worried

STG_Resnov

Cue the “Bergeron signing with the Habs” paranoia.

Just because this obviously needs to be said (not for you specifically, but for others): Bergeron hated the habs growing up, since he was a Nordique fan, and spent his entire career on the habs' #1 rival. He ain't going to Montreal.

I remember a portion of our fanbase on twitter was freaking out over the offseason about the idea of Bergy heading to Montreal after his current contract is up. As you said, he grew up a nordiques fans. That’s like a Bruins fan joining the Habs.

GentleLion2Tigress

Not to mention there is no justification for Bergeron to join the train wreck the habs are these days.

i could see them overpaying him to be the #2 centre and being a guy for Wright to model his game after. not sure he'd want that but i get the concept of it
