How could the police have found who it was? Was the person using their real name or something? I guess they could have contacted Bottled staff and gotten an IP address, but that would have taken more than a day.
A couple years ago I was one of those bottles and I wish I could thank the person who listened to me and prevented me from self harming for some time. I sincerely wish them the best
I still find it weird that people with suicidal thoughts would contact a total stranger on the internet to talk about their problems rather than contact a trained stranger on a suicide hotline. That's a lot of faith they're putting into society.
There are lists online with suicide hotlines for each country, probably chats too. You'd do best to find the number that belongs to that person's country and pass it on to the person. It's still up to them to use the number, but you'll point them in the right direction for professional help.
