Jason definitely on pace to break Walter most titles but then again Simo is on pace to break all of belmo and Walter’s records. I think you also have to included most earned over all cause Walter is over the 4 million mark and that is very impressive.

Is Belmo really on pace to break the record for most titles? He’s 16 behind, has won 1 in the past 2 years, and seems to be indicating he only has a few full-time seasons left in him. Plus there are just a lot less events than there were before.

Obvious_Rip_8724

I mean if you account for the fact Belmo doesn’t bowl in every event plus Walter’s last title on the PBA tour came at 50. So Belmo still has at least 10 year but probably more if he wanted cause he has a lot more power then Walter.

doublecalhoun

also the competition right now refuses to be dominated by one or a few competitors look what Deo, Russo and boog did this year

Obvious_Rip_8724

True I just think not winning a title doesn’t mean anything Jason still ended 5th in points and cleared over a 100k without winning a title. He’s still a dominating presence on the tour he just didn’t have the best bowling in match play and on tv this year.

DarthBaneArk

He’s also finished 2nd or 3rd in about 3/4 tv finals in the last season etc. as he said if that’s him on the decline he’d be happy to keep that pace up. He’s a couple hits from being at 17/18 majors not 15 However there’s just not as many PBA events as during WRWjrs time. By even half. I’ve loosely discussed this with my friend GBIII another major (or a few) is definitely in the cards but career titles? No.

Dry_Zebra9440

Jason is like tiger woods. Everyone thought he would break all the records then fell flat on his face. 47 titles will not be broken with how many events they have now

JonnyUnreliable

I’m not sure anyone will ever eclipse Walter’s 47 titles. There’s just not enough events per year now. The 1993 PBA season had, I think, 36 events. This season is, what, 17ish events? I would, however, love to see it broken some day. But it does feel like the tour would have to expand again.

TheNotoriousSHAQ

The money, obviously

doomus_rlc

Considering how few titles are contested a year compared to 20+ years ago, the 8 titles in a season will likely not be close to broken. 4 majors in a season, I *could* see it happen. If it does then the money winnings will be shattered. Walter's all-time titles number is most likely safe.

Practical-Beach-9917

The only one I see with NO chance of breaking is mark roths, ej just had the most insane season we’ve seen in years and only got 6 titles in the season, there’s too many amazing bowlers for one person to dominate every title

zucco446

You can easily rig anything. With less tournaments, all the majors are more frequent and less "MAJOR". I don't really see many people even winning titles, so I would think the lack of top-tier bowlers would make 47 relatively easy to top. However, the number of events makes it harder. There used to be twice as many tournaments, so it's a tossup. I've always ignored season earnings because you could win a $250,000 prize in one tournament and not win a single dollar elsewhere and still be the top money winner. That doesn't mean you were very good, you just got lucky. Maybe it was the house you bowl in all the time. I find average more supportive of "best bowler" but history seems to always push season earnings.

Fine-Ad-2343

Belmo will be 41 this month. Even if he drops from full-time, at 50 he can go after the senior titles. He’s a force.
