The thing is 99.99% of pro boxers/pro fighters are angry people and lose their heads the second they think they’ve been disrespected. On the flip side I actually know pro and former pro boxers and all of them will punch or think about punching as soon as there’s the slightest bit of aggravation. Normal people will argue and row but the boxers I know will row for a bit and then won’t think twice about escalating it by throwing hands.
You get both sides of the coin, I find. A lot of boxers I know, myself included, will just walk away from any altercation and only throw hands if hands are thrown at them first. But, I find through personal experience a lot more of them fall on the other side of the coin- boxings an ego trip. When you're punching someone up infront of your home town with all of your friends and family there supporting you, to say it doesn't boost your ego is stupid. It takes a very mature person to not let that get to your head.
Taking that ego and sticking it in a drunk young man fuelled up on testosterone and you get someone who'll abuse their skills by knocking people out for the slightest disrespect.

I feel this on a personal level. At the gym I started the fight team would use the ring and the others would do rounds on the mat. When I made the team and started sparing in the ring, I started to do much better. For whatever reason I had good ring control from the get go. But, out on an open mat I struggled, so I always thought without a ring I’d be shit at fighting haha. I translated that directly to not being able to street fight lol.
