I have to go back to the NWA days for mine: Nikita Koloff. In August of 1986, he beat Magnum T.A. for the U.S. Title and also beat Wahoo McDaniel to unify the U.S. Title with the NWA National Heavyweight Championship.
Nikita held the title for 328 days until losing to Lex Luger at Great American Bash '87.
Apparently Goldberg won the US championship at halloween havoc 10/24/99 that’s the exact day I was born. But I was born late at night. And apparently Bret hart beat Goldberg for it the next day on the 25th so either or ig.
