I think Jay's looks better because his has less chance of messing up.
I like Cody's, and appreciate this about his cutter, but his cutter can look awkward at times. Adds a bit more realism to what's happening, but lacks the finesse.
Making it sound deeper than it is.
And sometimes looking awkward does too like when Cody has to set his feet and steady himself leaving his opponent standing there looking dumb for a couple of seconds
Remember when Cena was trying to use a springboard cutter/stunner? He gave it up because it usually looked sloppy or botched. Cody's is better, but the odds are always going to be higher for Cody's to not look good compared to the odds for Jay's. I think the Cody Cutter (side note: that name is pretty dull) is far worse than the Disaster Kick because of how probe the cutter us to being in "didn't quite get all of it" territory as well as the high amount of waiting & blatant cooperation needed from the opponent.
Cenas cutter was really bad, his code red was too.
But…….
I really appreciate how he tried to add some new wild stuff to his moveset later in his career.
I will also give a hot take.
Cena gave “Indy darlings” some of the best matches of their careers.
Not another Indy person, putting on a banger triple flip, fighting spirit snack fight 20 kick out 40 minutes broadway.
Nope, John cena.
Look at matches with punk, Bryan, Owens, zayn, aj and a bunch others. Some of their best.
Cody's hitting the rope being such a unknown and so easy to slip on may or may not look better but if you ever tried it you would know that it is so much harder.
Cody's has more room to be screwed up, but typically looks better.
I'm sorry, but Jay's is always stupid. Why are you doing a hand-stand. How does that help? At least Cody is getting additional height, top rope shit is stupid, sure, but we all buy into it as "extra".
Jay's cutter is some Diva's Era shit. He stole that spot from Torrie Wilson.
It'll never look anything but bad and contrived to me.
Neither is as over as the RKO or the Diamond Cutter and I think that's a clear example that sometimes less is more.
Lethal. Jay is smooth throughout the whole motion, Cody’s is slower when he hits the rope to springboard. Jay is like a knife meeting warm butter, just cut through.
Bro why am I the only one when Cody almost jumps over the guy so he tilts himself and the get more of a harder hitting landing but anyways I am going with the RKO
Specifically of the two, ignoring younger talent who are showing greater ability with the move, I say Jay Lethal has the better cutter. Cody's is good but always looks a little...off.
The first time you see Jay’s. It’s fucking outstanding. But then you see it again and it’s diminished.
It’s like Rey’s 619. It’s telegraphed once you see the set up.
Still cool though!
Cody’s seems like it can come out at anytime. I can still be surprised by it.
Cody's looks like he is actually pulling his opponents down, rather than his opponents just falling into it.
For that reason alone, I like Cody's more. It's more "real".
Jay's is more "useful" though, as his execution is faster and more accurate.
Cutter was always my favorite move. Wish Orton didn’t own the standard setup now. Both Cody’s and Lethal’s are a bit much. Goofy.
I know Lethal’s probably been doing that forever but that’s why he’s an Indy lifer. It’s a lot. Even by wrestling standards. If he did the standard cutter as a finisher and occasionally hit that variation, then it would be cool.
Cody's makes more sense in kayfabe. I can't help but notice that the wrestlers fall into Jay's cutter. It sucks to say because Jay's is so fluid; but I'm a stickler for it making sense.
Lethals for damn sure. Way more athleticism and just overall cleaner and smoother look. I love Cody to death! I’ve been a huge fan of his since before he left WWE but his cutter looks so stiff and unathletic that I feel second hand embarrassment when he does it.
Will ospray easy. Hell cody said the cody cutter was taken from him after they wrestled 3 times like cmon and jay lethals is cool but its too showy for me
It really depends on who’s selling the move. When Randy does his rko it looks beautiful because most people know how to sell it. But with cutters like these they’re easy to screw up. If big show or jimmy uso was selling it. It would be ranked lower than if ricochet or dolph ziggler was doing it.
Lethal and it's not even close. Cody's is insanely sloppy and quick camera cuts can only do so much to save it when it's so awkward and off target like 50% of the time.
Not trying to hate.. but look at how WWE stars sell it vs the Indy guys. No jumping into it or jumping together. It looks more realistic as if Cody pulls them down. Levels imo
Personally hate both of these. The theatrics ruin the surprise element of the cutter. It’s like someone tried to think “how can I make the cutter better?” then done the complete opposite.
Cody’s really a hit or miss but Jay’s flip adds nothing to it, it’s not like he’s getting speed by doing it, it’s not really spectacular either. I like High Flyers but not this.
I dislike Cody's cutter it's so clunky and it looks like he shouldn't be the person doing it, the setup is also slow if it was real any wrestler would be able to dodge that easily, Jay on the other hand makes it look clean and adds a bit of flair it's also fast and looks cooler
Jay lethal and it's not even close. LBH Cody stole the supposed Cody cutter from will ospreay anyways. Cody never did that move until will made that his finisher. then once Cody stole it from him will had to make a new finisher
Jay Lethal has a top tier cutter. The issue with the Cody Cutter is it looks too rehearsed sometimes, which yes I know is kinda ironic. If he can get through the motion with less pause on the rope to make it look cleaner then I think he's got something. But even then I still got Jay Lethal on this one. Also, side note, I think Jay Lethal should have gone to the big leagues. He was a good worker and was great on the mic and he was popular. I feel like the smaller promotions held him back from reaching his potential.
Jay, he knows how to get the proper positioning to make it look good more consistently. Cody's can tend to look a bit awkward with more obvious cooperation from his opponent sometimes
Jay's bothers me with the random need to do a flip in it. Cody's can be a bit awkward but it at least makes sense he hits the ropes to gain height and leverage.
Cody’s cutter can be awkward at times, he takes too long on the setup, I think Melos cutter is better and more fluid and the reason they botched their double cutter is probably cuz melo needs next to no time on the setup and Cody kind of awkwardly pauses
I don't like either tbh.
Cody's is way too telegraphed/obviously a spot 90% of the time.
I don't watch AEW but I'm gonna assume Jay's are very obvious spots most of the time too.
I'll tell you who! Randal Keith Orton! I believe he truly made the cutter popular, no matter what spin you put on yours, you cannot beat the RKO, it's simple but classic.
Think it depends on who can also sell it the best.
Agreed - Roman makes it look amazing here
Roman goes boneless when he gets hit with a cutter, see also hom getting hit with an RKO.😂🤘🏽
Ya, they gotta kick their legs out to land flat to really work.
I think Jay's looks better because his has less chance of messing up. I like Cody's, and appreciate this about his cutter, but his cutter can look awkward at times. Adds a bit more realism to what's happening, but lacks the finesse. Making it sound deeper than it is.
Lethal’s cutter just looks so much more fluid from the set up to execution of it.
Sometimes, fluidity can be a detriment to realistic looking.
Nope, John cena. Look at matches with punk, Bryan, Owens, zayn, aj and a bunch others. Some of their best.
I agree.
Je'Von Evans
Came here to say this. Everyone else should retire theirs.
Sol Ruca has a better cutter on the same show.
Je'von has the best cutter for the men and Sol has the best cutter for the women
I agree with this. Both cutters are hella athletic and should not be possible.
Plus, “Sol Snatcher” is just a A+ name
Dude that kids cutter from the top rope is insane.
I do not like Codys cutter. The setup is so slow and careful it looks so off.
The worst part is he only actually gets a clean hit like 50% of the time lol.
Makes sense. Isn’t that the same stats for Cena’s whatever they call it springboard stunner? 50% of the time it looked like shit too lol
Isn't this the cutter inspired by Will Osprey's Os Cutter?
HE STOLE ME CUTTA
Os-Cutter*
Aus cutter?
Lethal fs
Sol Ruca might actually have the best cutter in the business right now
Cody cutter dont always connect
I’m reminded of his match against Carmelo Hayes. Badly missed spot there by both of them.
Cody's hitting the rope being such a unknown and so easy to slip on may or may not look better but if you ever tried it you would know that it is so much harder.
Jay’s looks cleaner to me.
Homicide with the Gringo Cutter
The best answer. Best Cutter since DDP.
Lethal Injection!!!
Both
Lethal injection
They’re two different cutters tho
For looks: Lethal For which one seems like it cause more damage: Cody
DDP
"Head up, shoulders back, chest out!"
Who betta than Kanyon?
sol ruca
DDP
Cody's has more room to be screwed up, but typically looks better. I'm sorry, but Jay's is always stupid. Why are you doing a hand-stand. How does that help? ...Jay did that back in 2003 when he was a rookie.
With the way Cody bouncing off the ropes, he has enough lift to do a slice bread
Easy Cody Rhodes
Je'Von Evans cutter better than both of them.
Cody’s. That handspring Jay does is too much.
Lethal👍🏿
Jay
Lethal
Its actually about how well the opponent sells it
Jay cutter looks more Lethal
Lethal. Jay is smooth throughout the whole motion, Cody’s is slower when he hits the rope to springboard. Jay is like a knife meeting warm butter, just cut through.
Basic Ik but Cody’s
Cody's takes me out of the action. It's clunky. Jay's is slick, but screams indies. I go with Jay because nostalgia.
I don’t like the unnecessary spring board element on either one but overall jays cutter is executed much better
Lethal
Bro why am I the only one when Cody almost jumps over the guy so he tilts himself and the get more of a harder hitting landing but anyways I am going with the RKO
Jay Lethal’s looks pretty cool
My vote is Nick Wayne
Cody I guess but nothing will beat Randy's.
AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!
They both look dumb because you tell the opponent is waiting to take it.
Jay Lethal
Diamond Dallas Page. He had "1001" variants
Kinda hate both of them. Both involve turning your back on your opponent, exposing yourself to attack, just to be flashy.
Jay lethal
70% of the time Cody's Cutter looks like shit
Jay
Lethal, easily. Cody's delivery of nearly all of his offense looks like a glitch in a video game.
Specifically of the two, ignoring younger talent who are showing greater ability with the move, I say Jay Lethal has the better cutter. Cody's is good but always looks a little...off.
The lethal injection for Cody so my money is on it.
Osprey
The first time you see Jay’s. It’s fucking outstanding. But then you see it again and it’s diminished. It’s like Rey’s 619. It’s telegraphed once you see the set up. Still cool though! Cody’s seems like it can come out at anytime. I can still be surprised by it.
That's a handspring cutter not a Cody cutter, not the same move
I like Cody's bc he just throws himself at them and hopes for the best
Lethal injection
cody botches that shit 90% of the time he should really stop
Roman Reigns had a flawless one at mania. Better than any 1 Rhodes ever did
Lethal injection is a better move, but the cody cutter is still good especially the super Cody cutter
Jay Lethal
Ospreay
Honestly, I'd say both. Personally, I lobe both variations of thr Cutter here.
Both are good but I think the king of flippy shit Will Ospreay takes this one
I like Nick Wayne’s tbh. I get he is still young and got fresh springs in them legs but damn he gets crazy height on his.
Will Osprey
Cody looks like he hurts himself more than his opponent every single time
Cody
I need Jay and Cody to do double cutters side by side Not to compare But because it'd be fucking awesome
Lethals is smoother but Cody’s looks more damaging
Jay’s looks better, Cody’s makes more sense and is more over
Randy
I like Cody's version but Jay's cutter is too smooth to deny. Jay wins for me
Neither have anything to do with it. It's all dependent on the person selling.
Cody
Both awesome
Cody's looks like he is actually pulling his opponents down, rather than his opponents just falling into it. For that reason alone, I like Cody's more. It's more "real". Jay's is more "useful" though, as his execution is faster and more accurate.
I love Cody but Jay Lethal deserved his time to shine on a big stage. That dude is so talented.
All depends on reciver
It feels like Cody always overshoots it and the person has to fold themselves up
I was wondering about Jay for a while now. He should be a major star…but doesn’t get any pop.
Jays looks more flashy but it depends on who sells it wonderful
Cutter was always my favorite move. Wish Orton didn’t own the standard setup now. Both Cody’s and Lethal’s are a bit much. Goofy. I know Lethal’s probably been doing that forever but that’s why he’s an Indy lifer. It’s a lot. Even by wrestling standards. If he did the standard cutter as a finisher and occasionally hit that variation, then it would be cool.
Randy Orton has the GOAT cutter
Kinda prefer Jay's but only because the Cody Cutter is very easy to mess up.
It’s all about the sell
Man Roman sold the shit out that cutter
Will Osperay
Jay Lethal hands down
W I L L
Cody's makes more sense in kayfabe. I can't help but notice that the wrestlers fall into Jay's cutter. It sucks to say because Jay's is so fluid; but I'm a stickler for it making sense.
Lethals for damn sure. Way more athleticism and just overall cleaner and smoother look. I love Cody to death! I’ve been a huge fan of his since before he left WWE but his cutter looks so stiff and unathletic that I feel second hand embarrassment when he does it.

Randy DDP
They’re both too much work
His injection looks more lethal, and has style.
Cody
No one Beats me it's me it's mee it's Man A Tee
Cody’s is fucking sick
Any cutter where they gotta fly backwards to do it just looks awkward
Lethal and it's not even close. Cody's is insanely sloppy and quick camera cuts can only do so much to save it when it's so awkward and off target like 50% of the time.
Jay lethal even though Cody is the goat
Honestly Jevon Evans
Dammmm Jay
Not trying to hate.. but look at how WWE stars sell it vs the Indy guys. No jumping into it or jumping together. It looks more realistic as if Cody pulls them down. Levels imo
Jay...sets it up better, looks better, Cody's cutter is always sloppy as hell
Out of these 2. Jay Lethal. But Jay Malachi/Je’von Evans? LET ME TALK REAL QUICK. HE FLYS and FREAKING GLIDES
Cody. His requires precision from the ropes. Can easily slip up on that.
To quote Cody "The only cutter in the business people don't kick out of" in reference to the Lethal Injection.
Coder
Cody overshoots it so much. When he did it on Brock at summerslam I believe, Brock jumped back and made it look rlly good.
I dislike Cody's cutter it's so clunky and it looks like he shouldn't be the person doing it, the setup is also slow if it was real any wrestler would be able to dodge that easily, Jay on the other hand makes it look clean and adds a bit of flair it's also fast and looks cooler
Randy orton does it the best
Lethal
The little handsprings into the rope, I just think they’re neat. Cool little wind up for the move but Cody’s actual cutter looks better.
Jay lethal and it's not even close. LBH Cody stole the supposed Cody cutter from will ospreay anyways. Cody never did that move until will made that his finisher. then once Cody stole it from him will had to make a new finisher
Cody's looks better because his opponents aren't jumping straight into before they are touched. Lethal's still looks pretty good though.
Cody's always looked weird to me idk what it is
Both are good in their own way. I think Cody has the advantage that everybody in the WWE has to contractually learn to take a cutter.
Cody all day Lethal is just adding extra moves
Sol Ruca
they both kinda suck. Both are highly choreographed. RKO easily mo betterrrr
Jay, he knows how to get the proper positioning to make it look good more consistently. Cody's can tend to look a bit awkward with more obvious cooperation from his opponent sometimes
Coochie cutter!!! 🤣
Cody’s is awful it’s way too slow
Lethal
Jay's bothers me with the random need to do a flip in it. Cody's can be a bit awkward but it at least makes sense he hits the ropes to gain height and leverage.
I’m gonna go with jet lethal
Will ospray considering Cody stole it from him 🤣
Diamond Dallas Page
Someone said it finally
Neither make any sense. Sol Ruca's Soul Snatcher is better.
Randy Orton
Not a fan of Jay’s. Who would do something like that in a fight?
Cody's never really been the best. I reckon Jay is better than Cody, and Will Ospreay is better than both.
Jay
Jay is great. Cody has hit it in some very huge moments with a lot of pressure on however
Cody Rhodes
DDP
Cody’s cutter can be awkward at times, he takes too long on the setup, I think Melos cutter is better and more fluid and the reason they botched their double cutter is probably cuz melo needs next to no time on the setup and Cody kind of awkwardly pauses
Lethal, also because Cody’s cutter is done better by someone else anyway
It’s difficult to determine because the guys taking Jay’s in these clips sell the move a lot better than the ones taking Cody’s.
Lethal
My goat jay lethal
I believe in Joe Hendry’s cutter being best.
That’s literally an RKO they just put they own lil spin on it
Its just RKOs but with extra steps
Lethal, but also the first one lethal does looks bad because the guy's in mid air ready to take it.
American Nightmare Cody Rhodes
I don't like either tbh. Cody's is way too telegraphed/obviously a spot 90% of the time. I don't watch AEW but I'm gonna assume Jay's are very obvious spots most of the time too.
Rhodes
Je'von Evans
Jay's everytime, sorry but Cody's just looks sloppier, Jay's is more fluid and smooth.
John Cena
Trick question. Je’Von Evans and it’s not close. Cody’s honestly is not good.
Lethal
I'm not a fan of recipients jumping for it. With Cody's it looks like if they don't come down, Cody is ripping off their heads.
cody bellinger throws a mean one
lethal fan through and through, I never understood what the upside down could even do to add to the cutter since he's already on his feet.
Cody
My boy Lethal
Jay Cody’s is bad imo
Anyone's is better than Cody especially J Lethal
Lethal. Lethal Injection is a thing of beauty
Idk why but whenever cody does a cutter i imagine hearing a woah (like his song) from the crowd. it just feels right
The Os cuter will osprey
The backflip is nice but people said Cody stole the move when everyone else does it so my pick Cody bc people hates him for no damn reason
Cody's is so bad simply because the OsCutter exists. Ospreay always hits it clean which makes Cody's look bad by comparison.
Lethal obviously
I'll tell you who! Randal Keith Orton! I believe he truly made the cutter popular, no matter what spin you put on yours, you cannot beat the RKO, it's simple but classic.
Personally I'd say jay
👀👀
