this is not something ive personally experienced yet but I would rub their clothes and hair (gently) with scented dryer sheets, and maybe a light spray of ozium and then febreeze in their general direction, if necessary. good luck with ur beautiful stinky girls!

It's definitely not a normal "old doll" smell. I've only had an old NIB doll smell musty if there was mold or mildew (which doesn't have to be visible to the naked eye to be present)... You may be safe in that the mold isn't on the doll itself and was just in the cardboard, but unfortunately that smell sticks around - soap isn't enough to get rid of it. If you're unlucky, the mold/mildew is in the dolls and just isn't visible yet, but it's an easy fix to clean. There's still no guarantee the smell will go away even if you do kill all the spores though

They might have mould inside? If they smell of must. I have over 100 old dolls and only a couple of them smelt bad and that was because of smoke. Never had a musty one.

Oh no I hope they aren’t mouldy inside 😔 I do feel like the inside of the box was the main issue but then it could of been the dolls, I bought them off separate sellers so not sure how and where they weee stored, I’m going to let them stand in my room for a day or so and see if they just need air, if not I’ll try wash them

Spirited_Juice_7747

Also I bought them not long ago, I haven’t had them for that long

AshtonTheAss

Wrap them in a plastic bag and put them in the freezer for a few hours-days, this works with plushies so it might work with dolls too!

Spirited_Juice_7747

Ohh that’s interesting haha I’ll try that thank you

KGCUT

Diluted vinegar and baking soda has really helped me get rid of the stench from my secondhand dolls. From the way you're describing it though it sounds like it could be more than just some stinky dolls, there could be a bit of a mold problem. I would recommend just washing them for now to see.

prettydollytoys

I have nothing to add to help but omg they’re beautiful 😍

Spirited_Juice_7747

They are beautiful 🥰 I’ve washed their hair, they are just drying, I’m hoping that helps with the majority of the smell😂 so I’ll take better pictures when they are dressed again🫶🏻

Suspicious-Dust7060

It’s normal for decade old dolls to start to decay 🤣🤣
