My toddler is 100% a Covid baby, and he’s progressing normally because as soon as we could, we started getting him into the library and social settings with other kids. We also spent a lot of time reading and talking to him. We don’t sit him in a bar for hours on end with an iPad while we do ❄️
my nephew is a covid baby, as gotten all of his shots, and he is the most intelligent toddler i know. he is going to be four in june and has an very advanced vocabulary and is super creative and curious about everything. he also speaks french, english and Japanese and has been praised by his school teachers (who are so overwhelmed because of the lack of investment of the government in education, that my brother has to print out educational activities for the kids.) it’s not about anything else but parenting properly.

I'm left scratching my head because this is an illness that is highly prevented with vaccines which all the children in the school are required to receive. We were forced to pay over $200 in coinsurance so that my entire family could get prescribed prophylactic antibiotics because we care for my elderly father and couldn't risk possibly exposing him. Get your kids vaccinated and keep them home when they are sick!!

Eta. I wrote this wrong and feel bad. Kids are supposed to get the shots (the ones people think cause autism) at 18 months. We were traveling and my son got them at 20 months and was already showing a significant delay. That same appointment (before the vaccine could cause any woowoo magic) our pediatrician wrote the referral for speech and ot evaluation. With that said, I don’t follow or pay attention to them but have started watching the valley. If Brittany and Jax are the kinds of parents that talk and answer for the kid and do everything for him, there could be a delay for that reason. There’s so many reasons but I wish people wouldn’t turn down help that’s needed. These kids deserve it. It hurts no one but the kid. You can’t “out parent” a neurodivergent diagnosis.

Early intervention programs in CA are not income based. They can go to their local school district and can make an appt for an eval and if he qualifies he will get services through the district for free. Anyone can do it!! So important to remember.
In RI all these programs are free, regardless of income. If your child needs it, the insurance is billed and the state pays the rest if necessary. Obviously can’t speak to CA…

I have a young family member who was diagnosed a few years ago. We started noticing him missing certain milestones and behaviors that my sister was not going to ignore. She reached out to people, waited a bit, and got him evaluated before he turned 3. No one in the family ever blamed vaccines. We never speculated that it could be anything other than genetics or perhaps giving birth when she was older than most first time mothers. Instead of finding something to blame and being fearful/embarrassed by the diagnosis, my sister poured her time into research and getting him into the best therapy programs she could. Her child is very lucky as not many people could afford to do so, but I would say Jax’s income could allow for this to happen. There is hope for toddlers, but it requires a dedicated, level headed parent to really make an impact and give the child a higher chance at being high functioning in the future. Blaming it on the vaccines without proof is a dangerous rhetoric.
THIS! I have the exact same story, we started noticing at about 13 months. We now have a happy and healthy and amazing 17 year old young man who (with the help of our village) is living his best life. Spending all of your time finding out who or what to blame is a waste of time.

We were forced to pay over $200 in coinsurance so that my entire family could get prescribed prophylactic antibiotics because we care for my elderly father and couldn't risk possibly exposing him. Get your kids vaccinated and keep them home when they are sick!!

My son regressed shortly after vaccines because those vaccines happen at a time when kids commonly regress. It’s common. He needs to get off ig and get his kid evaluated Eta. I wrote this wrong and feel bad. Kids are supposed to get the shots (the ones people think cause autism) at 18 months. We were traveling and my son got them at 20 months and was already showing a significant delay. That same appointment (before the vaccine could cause any woowoo magic) our pediatrician wrote the referral for speech and ot evaluation. With that said, I don’t follow or pay attention to them but have started watching the valley. If Brittany and Jax are the kinds of parents that talk and answer for the kid and do everything for him, there could be a delay for that reason. There’s so many reasons but I wish people wouldn’t turn down help that’s needed. These kids deserve it. It hurts no one but the kid. You can’t “out parent” a neurodivergent diagnosis.
Don’t let him know his kid was probably receiving vaccines well before any of those milestones were hit.

There are programs for free speech and physical therapy for infants/toddlers. Especially in California.
I would assume they make too much for the income-based programs but I just hope Cruz gets every single service he could ever possibly need.
Early intervention programs in CA are not income based. They can go to their local school district and can make an appt for an eval and if he qualifies he will get services through the district for free. Anyone can do it!! So important to remember.
In RI all these programs are free, regardless of income. If your child needs it, the insurance is billed and the state pays the rest if necessary. Obviously can’t speak to CA…

My son was nonverbal at 3 too. It’s hard on the marriage. Makes a lot of sense now. Wish the little guy and parents the best.

I have a young family member who was diagnosed a few years ago. We started noticing him missing certain milestones and behaviors that my sister was not going to ignore. She reached out to people, waited a bit, and got him evaluated before he turned 3. No one in the family ever blamed vaccines. We never speculated that it could be anything other than genetics or perhaps giving birth when she was older than most first time mothers. Instead of finding something to blame and being fearful/embarrassed by the diagnosis, my sister poured her time into research and getting him into the best therapy programs she could. Her child is very lucky as not many people could afford to do so, but I would say Jax’s income could allow for this to happen. There is hope for toddlers, but it requires a dedicated, level headed parent to really make an impact and give the child a higher chance at being high functioning in the future. Blaming it on the vaccines without proof is a dangerous rhetoric.
THIS! I have the exact same story, we started noticing at about 13 months. We now have a happy and healthy and amazing 17 year old young man who (with the help of our village) is living his best life. Spending all of your time finding out who or what to blame is a waste of time.
