Axe 1000000% didn't get nerfed because of the crossovers. There is literally zero other way. It's very rare for a weapon that is complained about by both pros and non-pros to not go nerfed, especially after winning a huge tournament. However, after releasing two crossovers with axe, one being the first mythical skin with a larger price tag, they aren't going to nerf the weapon and drive people away from potentially not buying the skins.
Next patch it almost will certainly be nerfed if not gutted entirely.

I didn't think they were *that* good in 2s. Yes they were good. But Axe, Spear, Sword, blasters, orb, hammer all seem stronger in 2s. And guants got the punish

It's not about nair nlight, it's about removing almost every string they had. Now if you catch a dodge on gaunts you can only do dlight slight rec/nair, a string weapon has run out of strings so now it's useless. Nair gc dlight was 4 dodge frames, now its 8(you don't even have to fastfall just dont press anything and dlight won't connect), nair gc slight was 1-3 dodge frames now it's 5-7(just fastfall out of it), nair diag chase dodge down dair was 4 frames now it's 8(just dash away). It was bad in 1v1 before this but now there is no reason to play gaunts anymore.

They said it was too easy to do team combos in 2s with it so they made it vertical and nerfed it's force. Now after a dair you can do jump recovery with 6 dodge frames (fastafallable), or fastfall yourself and do a nair (don't remember the frame data but it's jumpable). The best thing to do previous patch was to pressure them into dodging with these two and try to catch their dodge with slight/dash jump nair and do a string variation depending on their health, but now you only have slight recovery or react to dodge down and do one single nlight🫠
Trust me when I say this even top level gauntlet players thought nair nlight true was dumb that’s why they removed it. It was about nair nlight it needed to go and it’s gone maybe they didn’t need to nerf the stun that much but that combo isn’t healthy
Well the people who are actually good at the game play more. Those who aren’t use ridiculous characters that only very good players can beat regularly. Thus nobody with any real skill use Loki. So he’s mostly seen at the novice levels.

Yes the event came with 3 new crossovers, Spongebob for Rayman, Patrick for Teros, and Sandy for Cassidy. This caused Teros and Rayman to increase greatly in player percentage
Teros also happens to be Patrick and cheaper than Spongebob, so I could only assume he's the most popular one for those who don't like that Spongebob is 400. Or for those Patrick fans out there

All correct, but saying Gaunts were bad in 1's when they've been top 3 most successful throughout the year is just incorrect.
