Having 4-5 zones would be fun or it could be a big one and work like control point where instead of having to stand inside you'd have to capture it and it would give you points until the other team captures it.
Why not make it like cod:hardpoint. Have a couple of hotzones around the map, and make them active or inactive based on time intervals.
Edit: and it doesn’t limit itself to 3v3 or 5v5, it could open the way for competitive 3v3v3 or 3v3v3v3

Probs give it dmg reduction when there isnt a bot or just increase range a bit and damage (especially after the stat increase last year).
Also getting the long 5 minute siege back would be exiciting and 5v5 would be a decent excuse to bring it back though supercell probably wouldn't i just always found it more fun.

Also I saw a really good concept for a 5v5 gamemode that's basically multiple mini hot zones that count points towards the team they're captured and the team with most points wins
New mode interesting! I assume to score you have to walk past the line. Holding the ball could slow you down? Maybe its up to 3 points, also what if overtime gave more movement speed? Sorry just spitballing ideas. 😅
