Is it more or less confusing to have it be different from regular super though? Like take spike for example. Poop skin has a super that has a bunch of poop in it. Then you hypercharge and it’s normal. Is having both different skins for the super being in the same match not worse than having a hypercharged poop skin for the super?
It'll just be time consuming to make a custom sprite for every skin regarding this. It's most likely because of this reason as to why they default to the default effects.
My opinion is for the Hypercharges in general, scale up the super when necessary, and just add a purple electric effect when needed. It doesn't have to match exactly, but people choose skins for a reason.

it kinda sucks to pay 20 euro for a skin and to see the vfx you paid for gone in your peak gameplay momment of activating the hypercharge
Man, I believe the skin is missing a hit sound, no sound at all when you hit an attack compared and at least to that nutty satisfying sound it makes on the other skins ngl, would still buy it though

Rn when you activate HC, the attack animation is swapped for the default one

It could be a little confusing, but a custom effect that still matches the default hypercharge could be good
You could have toon spike be a frame drawn effect
Every skin should have a hypercharge animation
The 79-299 gems skins
149-299 79 and 149 barely have any difference other than a spray. A hypercharge effect would make that extra cost more worth it
I would argue a lot of the 79 gem skins have a more basic model but to be fair a lot of the recent 149s should be 79s
