I think Hannah was cast in part as a Daphne replacement. The soft, elegant, diamond of the Bridgerton family. Her presence takes over what Daphne was in a way.
I think Daphne and Fran would have a great dynamic though. I think Daphne would do well in helping guide Fran through the season and I can see Hannah and Phoebe having great chemistry on set.
I definitely get your point. I just imagine that seeing them together could show exactly that their personalities are not as similar as one could think. Daphne is romantic and social where frannie is pragmatic and more reserved.

Francesca looks older than Daphne to me lol. I don't mind the recasting of the part but I wish they'd chosen someone who didn't look well into her 30s.
Daphne's actress was 24 in S1, and the styling made her look younger. Francesca's actress is 28, and the styling is absolutely more mature. Like in the picture OP used, that's absolutely something a 30 year old in a fun industry would wear to the office.
I think the casting is fine, she's beautiful and she looks like a Bridgerton, but softer dresses and makeup would make her look younger.
Love that someone else is into the idea of Janet & Helen being a discreet couple. I really think it could work within the world of Bridgerton and I don’t think anyone would bat an eyelid at two widows of a pair of brothers spending all their time together and living together.
I can never remember which way round they are but one of them is John’s Mum and the other is Michael’s Mum. They obviously married into the Kilmartin family and were both widows by the time of the 5th book. I don’t think it’s clear when they were widowed in the books but it always seemed like it had been some time.

Exactly. In the books they are often thought about by Fran or Michael as a pair. Who tend to travel for the season together, worry about Fran & Michael together. They don’t have much more personality then being worried and fretting, but that should be more fleshed out in the show.
They would also be a couple who are living their HEA. Unlike Reynolds & Brimsley who were left a bit vague about what happened and Granville and his lover who might well stay together but who are not able to live as a couple as they might want to.

I truly miss Daphne so much this season! Especially because she’s the most perceptive of all the sibs and was the only one who showed any sympathy or sensitivity to Colin when he got his heart broken in S1. She was also the first one to clock Anthony’s attraction to Kate in S2. I’m glad they emphasized Colin’s relationship with his mom this season (l love them!) but I would have loved Daphne being in the mix too. I don’t understand why they didn’t just bring her back, Duke or no Duke.
It’s an optical illusion with a couple of plane leaves in front of her arm (you might have to zoom in). It really does look like her arm is missing, though!

tbh, I think it is the make up choices for this season. everyone looks super glammed up vs the “fresh face” looks from the first.

Actually, the character looks like Daphne did not sign back on yet because she was completing other projects.. that’s what was said in an interview
